  1. I have previously done the international long here with Lotus on Track. This is a really great track you'll have lots of fun.
  2. Hi. Increasing performance is about reducing temperature of the air (the standard intake is well shielded against engine heat) or trying to get more air via some kind of air ram effect (used on many sports bikes). This system moves the intake away from the engine: AEM 350Z Cold-Air Intake
  3. All performance replacement panel airfilters should sound about the same. I think someone on this site is selling a K&N filter and I have a Blitz one available for a £13 inc p+p.
  4. Be aware of unofficial Jap imports when buying. Look up the differences between UK and Jap imports - you have been warned! A 350Z is one of the lowest depreciating sports cars you can buy. Most owners of TTs and Boxsters have to add £5-10,000 worth of extras to get the spec that they want. 350Z come already loaded with most of the options you should need. This site will provide all the info you will need about 350Z http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/350Z-TECH
  5. Just a reminder that this event is taking place this weekend http://www.japshow.co.uk/
  6. Hi. Fitting something like a Utec piggy back ECU will give you around 10% power increase above your gains by bolt-on mods. Lots of people can fit and tune the ECU e.g. Thor racing. Utec = £700 tuning = £300 approx.
  7. Thanks for posting the independent tests showing the sort of gains possible with various mods. Great write-ups by the magazine.
  8. US 350Z forums have a wealth of info on flywheels. It seems the noise level varies. Some people have found it to be not too bad others have found it to be so bad that they have put the original back in. Another coment I noticed was that you need more revs to pull away - like a racing car I suppose. My advice is to read the experiences of US owners.
  9. Hi. You will never get a change like your S2000 which is just about the slickest gearbox in existence. The 350Z has a meaty change which suits its character. Be aware that changing the existing dual mass flywheel to a lightweight one will cause low speed noise and vibration. What most people refer to as a cement mixer sound. Enjoy your Zed!
  10. Hi. If your into modding then 350Z is a great base car. Zillions of products from the Europe, USA and Japan.
  11. Handling has been criticised in the motoring press, partially due to a lack of a LSD. It looks naff but is pretty quick due a great motor.
  12. Hi. A standard 313ps can run 1/4 mile slightly quicker than your mini. A few mods and ECU mapping will see a good improvement in bhp. There are more tuning parts available for the 300 and 276 versions because they have been around longer. 350Zs have a LSD which means they are often a choice for drifters. US tuners are running 700bhp + TT and APS has just launched an extreme TT kit priced at $9000 (1000bhp potential?!). Ungraded internals required past 450bhp. Various superchargers are also available. Chris
  13. 1. The progressive oversteer 2. Ride is a great compromise between relatively flat cornering and ride comfort 3. The speed - especially after tuning 4. The torquey engine 5. Vast variety of relatively cheap parts to mod your 350Z
  14. Probably the cheapest way to proceed is to buy your exhaust off the internet and then get your local exhaust fitting place to fit it.

    Brake pads

I did a search before buying and EBC yellow seemed to be favourite. I have found them to be superb and they do not squeal at all. Performance friction also came out well but are twice the price. Lots of people seemed to find DS2500 to be squealy but i have not tried them.
  16. There was a nice new white Gallardo LP560-4 at Silverstone, the first I have seen. The owner didn't take it on the track though.
  17. EVO mag did an interesting track comparsion. The 350Z is faster round Bedford's circuit than the BMW M3 CS. 1.29.1 vs. 1.29.95. Just for interest the 350Z GT-S (supercharged concept) did it in 1.26.95.
  18. The car that I sat in was a prototype. So interior was for show only. From the look of it expect a clean design style and use of very high quality materials. Chassis construction is similar to the Elise/Exige.
  19. I had a sit in this car at the Motor Show. Think of a more refined Exige. It will be powered by a 2.0l turbo-charged Ford engine: 240bhp. Designed and built in Mexico with further chassis work carried out in th UK.
  20. I'm 6ft 5" and fit in fine. Even ok with a helmet, although its a tight fit.

    RX 8 buying

Mazda claim to have improved the RX8's heavy oil consumption in a very recent engine update. My brother-in-law had the starting problem issue with his.
