  1. If you want the car to go faster then reducing unsprung weight is key. As you increase wheel size and tyre width the unsprung weight goes up. The forged Rays are just about as light as you can get in 18" wheels without spending ££££. Bigger wheels can look better though!
  2. I think that it could be a loss leader to get people in to buy petrol and groceries. I now think that it is £15 not £16 that I paid. Bought some about 7 weeks ago.
  3. You can get Texaco Havoline 5w-30 fully synth for £16 from Morrisons. It is 5L so you don't get ripped-off by having to buy a 4L and a 1L.
  4. Utec is around $800 (£600) Tuning would be around £250
  5. UTEC piggyback is tried and tested. Various people can map it for you to give 10%+ power increase. Mine was tuned by Thor Racing in the Midlands.
  6. I have been to see it. A great horror film with some good jumpy moments. The 3D effects were great - really added to the movie. It is a bit corny in places but then some of the best horrors are.
  7. Dear Run What Ya Brungers Ok, so it’s been a bit of a stalling start to the Run What Ya Brung year, with a couple of red lights from the rain and a lane violation by the snow, but just in time for Santa Pod’s first Saturday Night Special of the year, the weather has sorted itself out and dry weather is forecast for the coming weekend. Saturday 21st February is our first Saturday Night Special event of 2009, and if haven’t experienced the thrill of racing up the strip at night and hurtling into the darkness after the finish line, you’re missing out on an atmospheric and exciting RWYB experience. The darkness might get the better of your fear or it might heighten your senses, but either way, it’s something different to the usual RWYB experience, and a range of tickets are available depending on how long you wish to stay at the track. Full info available here: http://www.rwyb.co.uk/sat_night_special.php Sunday 22nd Feb is a normal Run What Ya Brung event for those who simply cannot get enough of that “Full Throttle Feelingâ€
  8. I am going to Donnington show, yes to track time there and possibly at rest of shows too.

    Wider Tyres

You would get increased drag and rolling resistance from the wider tyres - making your car slowed in a straight line. The suspension set-up would need to be reset to get any real benefit in cornering from wider tyres.

    Tyre mileages?

General running costs are pretty low. They are popular in the states so parts can often be imported at much lower costs. Tyres are popular sizes so availabilty widespread - priced from less than £100 fitted and balanced. This forum is great for anything that you want from dedicated traders or second hand from members.
  11. Their new 5.0 V8 engine sounds amazing. Reports about it in the latest Top Gear and EVO. Available with 4 doors (XF) or 2 (XK)!
  12. Yellowstuff work well when cold and hot on the road. They are used in one of the motorsport formulas and so are great for the track too. They do not squeal like the DS2500s potentially can.
  13. Lots of forum members have reported that these pads squeal - it is a known problem. Mysteriously some do, some don't.
  14. House prices are likely to fall further. Barclays have said 15 % this year. This is what the IMF said in Oct 08: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) became the latest body to predict a recession in the UK, when it radically downgraded its forecasts for British economic growth yesterday, and declared house prices 20 to 30 per cent overvalued. Might be costly to get into the market too soon.
  15. The difference is the higher octane fuel used in Japan (100). Octane in US varies state to state. They use a different system of measuring octane so although a US octane rate might seem lower it could be the same or higher than ours.
  16. MPS have now been replaced with the improved MPS2 - not sure about availability.

    Brakes

Yellow stuffs are brilliant - don't bother with red go yellow.
  18. Love the two tone white on black paint job, first that I've seen!
  19. Thanks. No mention of special tools. Wonder why two experinced mechanics told me they needed special tools.
  20. Thanks but I think this is a more general guide to bleeding brakes. I am happy for garage to do it but I prefer not to give it to my Nissan dealer because of previous lack of care shown.
  21. I need to change my brake fluid. Has anyone done this or had this done my someone other than Nissan? I was told that you need a special tool. (UK car)

    RIP S2000

I owned one when it first came out and loved the rear biased chassis and brilliant gearbox. If you are not much above average size and after a soft top include this on your list.
  23. It is the general view that the JWT popcharger does not give power gains but that it does give an increase in noise. The only space that fits under the strut bar is the 5/16 motordyn
  24. 5-30W is the grade stated by Nissan for the UK
