  1. Exactly. Considering the number of miles I cover in it, others often say, "Why not just get Rep-mobile to run round in and save the Z for weekends?". My *head* says that makes perfect sense. I'm not sure I could live with myself though running round in a Vectra whilst the Z sits in the garage! B-roads would just not be the same
  2. You're not driving it properly mate It's all good knowing that other people think highly of your ride. The real satisfaction of Z ownership, for me anyway, is in my own knowing just how good this car actually is. The only way you can know within is if you push it and drive it: the only place you can do that is on a track. Forget driving quickly on public roads if you want to properly explore the car. Track is the place for it. Within the first few laps, I guarantee you will have a greater understanding of what the Z was designed to do, and just how well it does it. On my last track event (Elvington), I was passing Imprezas, Porsches and Ferraris: not many cars could do that with a novice at the wheel When I'm pootling around and folks notice my Z, I think "yeah, you might think it's cool, but I *know* it is!". I've had the Z for 18 months, and every time I jump in, it's like the very first
  3. "Your current tax disk ~ runs out on: 31 03 2008" "The earliest you can apply for a new tax disk is 15.03.08." "2008-09 rates take effect from 13 March 2008." Cunning.
  4. Exactly the same for me. I was getting some rediculous tyre wear issues on the fonts (i.e. inside nearly bald and mid-outer loads of tread). Had a 4 wheel laser alignment done at Harratts Wakefield and the car has never felt better, especially at higher speeds.
  5. EDIT: I am such a clown. "Donny" refers to Donnington, not Doncaster! There is a Doncaster annual car show/meet, and I got confused with the two.
  6. Do we have a web-link to the official show site? I assume there is one. Google searches for "Doncaster Car Show" just returns lots of KrOoZiN sites. I'm not far from Donny, so will probably visit for a couple of hours.
  7. LMAO Sucker punched! Got to admit, I did fall for that I've just booked a day at Elvington (York) in January which I'm looking forward to!
  8. 1:38 is a nice time I learnt a lot from Graham on my visit to Dunsfold and have since then been applying his techniques/pointers to my regular driving. I'm pretty sure that I would beat my old time on my first hot lap, should I decide to visit again (which I might ). My tyres were at the legal limit as well, and having recently replaced mine again all round, you notice the difference is grip straight off.
  9. I'm sure that would depend entirely on which rules applied. Fighting under MMA rules, FM Jnr (or any other boxer for that matter) would most likely loose. FM Jnr would surely win under Marquess of Queensbury! I don't think you have made a fair comparison there, it's like saying Lewis Hamilton wouldn't succeed in WRC. As for the fight itself, it reminded me of the GB Lions rugby league Tri-Nations final (2004) against Austrialia at Elland Road. Lions lost 44-4. Sitting there watching the game, I felt bitterly dissapointed in that we were being so heavily and comprehensively beaten, whilst at the same time, appreciating the simply fantastic Australian play. It felt the same this morning. I was gutted to see Hatton loose, yet had to appreciate the brilliant boxing work of Mayweather. FM Jnr showed why he is widely regarded as pound-for-pound the world's best boxer. Awesome skills!
  10. I had a regular 1.8 Focus a number of years ago, and the handling really was superb. Very light and easy to turn in. Does the ST have an LSD as standard? The one thing that annoyed me about my previous car (Celica T-Sport) was coming off RAB's or tight bends, the wheels would just light up and it really missed an LSD. Anyhow, here is the *real* test that every car is judged by and is universally recognised as the absolute authority in automotive coolness: http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/show/powerlaps.shtml
  11. +1 I'm running on a new set of Potenzas (2 weeks) and have had the TC come in numerous times over the few days, with the road being wet. Coming off roundabouts is where you need to watch it. Don't worry about the arse end breaking loose though Dicky, you'll get used to it It's a bit of a heart stopper first time it happens though!
  12. OMG tell me it's not true! http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2007 ... ati-p1.php
  13. :bye: I'm from Leeds but don't actually live there now (not far away though). Always there on a Friday mind, supporting the Rhinos :-D If you are interested in a local meet, there is a Jap car regular at Squires (Sherburn) first Tuesday of every month. Haven't been myself for a while as my buddy's Supra is sick at the moment but I might make the next one. In terms of local dealers for servicing and such I use Harratts Wakefield who I would recommend without hesitation. Welcome to the forum!
  14. +1 Of course it has always a close run thing, in both styling and performance, between the Impreza and Lancer Evo. Subaru had best hope the Impreza has as big a *performance* advantage over Evo X than the Mitsi currently enjoys by way of styling. http://www.mitsubishi-cars.co.uk/evolutionX/gallery.asp Personally I could never choose between the last generation of STI/Evo. Subaru just made that choice a whole lot easier.
  15. Wakefield Nissan (Harratts) - All good. Had a bunch of warranty work done there: replacement wheels (with no fuss even after 30 months), replcement BOSE HU, rear axle and some other stuff I've forgotton. My GT4 has been in for some bodywork repair which was completed good as new. I use this dealer for my regular servicing too. Mathew is very helpful on the service desk, and Dave in Sales if you need anything new.
  16. Top stuff! If you decide to post the remainder of your photos on a pic-hosting site, be sure to leave a link here. You have earned the right to a Nordschleife bumper sticker! Makes me wonder how many people who have these stickers have in fact driven the circuit (for real, as opposed to on rFactor, GT4 or Forza). Great write up, looking forward to a drive there myself one day.
  17. Other than the curve on the front skirt I think it looks the muts! I bet these things are expensive too........
  18. http://www.nihoncar.com/en/review-464-N ... +HDTV.html I WANT ONE OF THESE!
  19. Probably the best way to play the Neo Geo (and all the other classic arcades/consoles) is through a PC emulator. Have a look around the 'net for emulators and ROMS for your PC, then get an XBOX 360 controller with PC adapter and you're off!
  20. Hope you enjoy your holiday in Coatia sinbad Whilst you await your new friend's reply, have a giggle at the archive on www.419eater.com
  21. Very cool Twin intakes? Dig those GT4 wheels too
  22. When you are next in a multi-storey, drop your drivers window and listen out when turning a slow tight circle. I noticed it first in this circumstance as the enclosed car park amplified the noise somewhat.
  23. If you are in Chesterfield, you are not a million miles away from the dealer I use, being Harratts Nissan in Wakefield (Denby Dale turning off M1). They have been excellent for me and warranty work. My Z is in at the moment for the rear axel clicking problem, and they are replacing my GT4 alloys with a new set as well (starting to bubble and flake). Never had an issue with warranty work and the guys there always give a good service. If you decide to use them, talk to Matthew (Service) on 01924 290390 and he doubt he will help you out.
  24. Can anyone recommend a reliable bodyshop in Yorkshire? I put a lovely pair of scratches down the side of my Z today but have since decided they don't fit with the car's image and want them removed. [/crying] They don't look too bad to my untrained eye though the door panel is pushed in about 1.5" long by a few mm (hopefully can be popped out).
