  1. Driving style will also have a huge influence on your fuel economy irrespective of the speed you were doing.
  2. Just another example of anti car Labour policy. Their justification is that it will reduce road deaths yet according to their statistics "the fact we are killing 3,000 people a year on our roads, it would be irresponsible not to do something about it." Yet they state in the following paragraph that " New research by the Department for Transport has found that reducing the speed limit could save 200-250 lives a year" So if speeding accounts for only 200-250 lives a year, what is the cause of the remaining 2750-2800? So called drivers who can't drive and non-nationals that haven't even had any driving tuition most likely!!
  3. You've answered your own question. Totally different compounds front & rear means totally different grip levels, that's why your car tried to kill you. I suggest spending a bit more cash for Falkens all round before you end up in a ditch. +1 on that. Mixed compounds equals mixed handling characteristics.
  4. I've got a 296 bhp face lift model and have also driven the earlier 276 version. I have to agree wityh most thet the 276 model does pull slightly better and is argued by some to be a better engine due to the oil consumption issues of the 296. To counter that however, most will agree that the interior is quite a bit better on the 296 and other mods such as the led rear lights, double zenons, etc make for a better car. Overall, I would suggest if you are looking to heavily mod your car then go for the 276, if not, then the value of then later model is likely to be better in the long term
  5. I dont like them at all personally. I used to use them on the full harness in my single seater to prevent the straps digging in to my shoulders, but now that I have a track car that I don't need to be strapped into quite so tightly, I don't use them
