Glad there is someone else that agrees with me, I love the Nismo kit with the OEM spoiler. Love red Zeds, my fav colour, Leemiks red zed is damn sexy too I think my next Zed might well be red

So was it a bungless test after all?
-
Get those bung out and a mate to hold it while you do a 4.5k reading

Awww poor Stew! How about you make it yourself Pfffft, this is my third day on and he hasn't bought me a subway yet either. I'll be complaining soon!

And when you have, I bet you will change your mind - as i did. It would be interesting to see if anyone has done a back-to-back test by putting a standard 370 against a standard 350 (any of the 3 engine sizes) round a track by the same driver to see how they compare. I know what my money would be on. Nobody is disputing that the 370z is the better car. It should be, being the latest car. The point being made is that its not a big enough step up from the 350z to warrant the £15k+ you'd need. IMO, 350z owners should have been the hardcore customers that Nissan targetted. Another thing that would put me off is Nissan's insistence on bring out facelift versions almost annually. How long before they bring out a new version with an extra 15bhp. When you buy a new car I'd want it to remain the most current version for at least 2/3 yrs. The facelift version they will bring out inevitibly next year or the year after, is the car they should have released initially. The 350z was never an out-and-out sports car and was more of a GT. People saying how great the interior of the 370z is and how comfy it is on long journeys shows tht the 370z has veered even further away from being a sports car imo...... Again, that shows you havent driven one. All the feedback I have had from people that have driven them in anger state that they are way better than a 350z in both handling and interior. Why cant you have a better sports car with a better interior? Ferrari manage to pull it off, so why cant Nissan make it a better on both counts? We're not saying its fat american type interior, its leagues apart from say the G37 (which I have also driven). The G37 is much more a comfy, loft about, type car where luxury is key over out and out performance. The 370z is a lot more sporty, but its no Caterham! There is a lot of area to work in with a sports GT car. Before I drove one, I had the same oppinion as most on here (as Colin did) and didnt think it was worth it. Now I am looking for a new car, I will quite happily pay the £20k I need to make it up to a new 370z. The changes are more than worth it, plus mine will likely need more maintainance as it gets older with more expensive parts needing to be replaced. On paper this makes no sense at all, but buying a car is an emotional thing, and thats what drives it at the end of the day. What is worth a £15k upgrade to some, isnt to others, and we will never agree on it. Logically, no one should ever buy a Lambo, as they are not 3x better than a 370z to warrent 3x the price IMO I'll get to experience back to back driving in some anger on Saturday, when I get to take a 370z MT6 out on my fav local road and then again with my 350z straight after. Then I will see how much better the handling really is in real life.

Generally no where near as extreme over this side of the pond. Everything is more expensive, so we are quite a bit more conservative on all fronts over here.

Nice one Mart! I too have realised that Dealers are the weakest link. Speaking direct to NMGB is the way forward on all matters me thinks!

I think you better

I normally get a "you're on there so much, you must run it by now!" and I just reply "yup"

Ahhh to be a contractor, no politics, just turn up, do some work your given, give unbias honest opinions, then after 8hrs, feck off home without a care in the world, other than remembering to get a timesheet in on a Friday Its remarkable how much fun the workplace is when you are not involved in the politics. Just being able to laugh at all the nonses and if they annoy you, just tell them to go away

Seriously, get it done somewhere by people that know what they are doing and you will be fine. I have seen loads of people get wheels powdercoated and all have been fine. These images pop up from time to time with no explaination of what has happened. Same as those that bash Rotas for being crap, its just not justified. If you look at those wheels and see how thin the spokes are compared to solid ones on most wheels. The only Zed wheels this has happened too consistently is the GT4 wheels as they have thin spokes. Make sure they keep it under 200C when baking and they will be fine

Yup, I saw a review on youtube of a 300ZX vs 350z vs 370z and one of the guys said he prefers the 300ZX the most! I guess the biggest difference here that Sarnie and Digsy are trying to point out is that the change isnt all that much. I think for a newer model 350z that is true, but for an original like mine, there is a world of difference between them. Whether its worth the extra £20k to get, its up to the buyer.

Do let me know where they are hiding There arent any on PH that I can see (although 370z isnt an option in their list) and on autotrader they seem to start at £27.5k for a GT without Nav. I agree it will depreciate far more than £4k in two years, more like £10k I would say if the market is stable and no more freefall that we saw on the 350z's. And that £27.5k one is a main dealer They are out there. The 370z, as with most cars, will be doing well to be worth more than 50% of its new price when its three years old. Just a shame I dont like the blue

Ahh, but the point you missing is when Mr X trades in his 370Z in a couple of years time to buy his Lambo he will recoup much of that £15k. Yes, I realise that newer cars depreciate £ for £ more than older cars but its not just £15k down the drain that cannot be recouped. So if it boils down to losing an extra £3-£4k in real terms but you get to spank around in a 370Z for a couple of years it suddenly becomes a much tougher decision, for me anyway. What you really dont want to see is how much you then lose when you chop in your Lambo for a family car

Yup I think there are better quality ones on youtube than that

Check out the US forums. They are quoting numbers of 17-20HP for the intake, dyno proven. As per usual, take it all with a pinch of salt, but from what I have seen, the stock car runs very rich over there, so whereas on our 350z's the mods run it lean with only a little increase in power, these bring the 370z into good AFR zones and make it run very nicely with consistent power. Should be noted that this is with the Stillen Gen 3, which is quite expensive and puts the filters out of the engine bay but high up in the bumper, so away from puddles. Does require the bumper to be removed to clean the filters though, but its meant to be easy

You guys crack me up In la la land where the 350z and 370z are the same price, no 2 ways about it you would have a 370z. Back in the real world where you can have a 350z nearly new quite considerably less than a 370z, you will be hard pushed to justify a 370z, but I think the case can be made. Now, agreed, its not a Cayman S, but its also about £15k less than a Cayman S! Second hand Cayman S teritory, yes, you could even get a second hand Cayman S and turbo it for the price of a 370z new if you picked one old enough. Theres just too many option to look at it logically. Buying a car is emotional, thats how you decide. I cant justify stepping up to a Cayman S or BMW as they are just too expensive for what they are, whereas I can justify upgrading to a 370z which has 50HP more than my Zed (70HP if you factor in an intake and exhaust - not inc a remap), has a much much nicer interior and drives much more like a Cayman - albeit losing some of the fun of the brutishness of the 350z. Plus you can have a decent auto option. This arguement will just run forever, and you wont ever reach an answer as its all based on opinion.
-
Another thing to consider, which might get me shot down, is the new auto box is rather nice. I drove a couple of weekends ago and its pretty damn good given its not a dual clutch job. I've never liked autos, even newer ones like the G37, but the one in the 370z is quick enough for me to not get annoyed with it and also good for lazy daily driving too and from work. I know the box is the same in the G and Z but the Z seems to change gears much more how I like it, I guess the electronics have been mapped differently between the two. The 350z tiptronic was a bit pants from what I've heard. Might sway a few more towards the 370z

Best of luck with the sale Ricky, looks a cracker! Saw on FB that you've just finished it, cant believe its up for sale Sure someone will apprecaite the dedication gone into it and give you a good price for her

GT4 Zed is well placed to answer that - you hear of some who find no issues with the handling etc and others who get the TCS kicking in which has always puzzled me as I thought it only picked up rear wheel slip. Personally, given the differing ways tyres are made - as GT4 Zed has said, I would never mix tyres for road use although there were known advantages of doing that in various forms of motor sport. Takes me back to autotest days when 'mud and plug' tyres would be used on the front wheels on Minis but for the rears it was a case of using anything near bald I have heard of more people saying they get thrown off balance than those that say its fine. TBH in this weather I wouldnt want different compounds on my car. WRT TC, it will measure wheel speed at all 4 corners, and it will use the difference between front and rear wheel speeds to decide if the tyres are slipping and also how to apply the VDC. I think most people experiencing these problems are mainly down to tyre ratios being incorrect though. Dunno what Colin is on about being a hoon, I find hes a bit slow ........ just kidding buddy! Was good fun in the Trussacs loosing the others and turning Amanda a bit green
