  1. Ah - good point. I think he did indicate that this included the adaptors, whereas the model I have seen priced at £470 doesn't mention them. Thanks for that.

    Missfire?

Hi Jim, As Adam states no need to reset ECU. If fault only started after plug replacement I would tend to be looking towards the new plugs or coil packs. Of course it may be only coincidence and maybe some thing completely different. Have a look at current stored fault codes. Alex. Thanks to you both for replies. How do I check the codes?

    Missfire?

I put new plugs in mine last week when it was serviced. Since then, I have noticed a slight irregularity rather than a full-blown misfire at idle, which disappears when the revs rise. Does anyone know if you should have to reset the ECU after new plugs are installed? I was thinking about trying the idle air volume learning procedure to cure this - is that likely to work?
  4. I have been looking online at sites like car audio direct mainly. The W202 is still a bit more than I want to spend at roughly £570 at the cheapest suppliers. I spoke to the guys in Skidz (my local car audio dealers) today and they recommended the Kenwood DDX5024 - it meets my needs as I'm not bothered aboout SatNav as I have a good portable unit which mounts in the cubby quite neatly. However, they wanted around £550 for it and I can get it online for £470 or thereabouts. Skidz would fit any unit for around £25, so I may go down that route once I decide on the right HU. I'm still tempted by the JVC unit - it looks good, seems to do most of what I need and is a good price.
  5. What make of hose were you fitting? SPS? Samco? Oh, and did you drain the whole system before starting? (I've been putting off fitting mine because of the need to refill and bleed the system)
  6. That's my one gripe about an otherwise excellent new site. Well done to all involved. Don't know if this is only happening in Firefox, or happens in IE too? Edit - just noticed that the quote box didn't work in this post. Any ideas why not?
  7. Martin. Glad Alex got you sorted so quickly. The car looks mint. Although based in Larbert, I am over in Fife quite often so I'll keep an eye out for you. Cheers, Jim
  8. I think. Mind you ---
  9. I agree about the benefits of wax - even by hand, the P21S or the Dodo Juice really make a difference to the depth of shine. Is it the Megs starter pack you use?
  10. Tim, I never thought I'd see yours up for sale! But what a bargain for somebody - I think everyone on here would vouch for the loving care and attention you have applied to the car over the three years. Best of luck with the sale.
  11. Stew, I take it the you use the Blackfire Wet Diamond as a final finish? Or do you add wax on top of that?
  12. Thanks for the advice, guys. I normally use Meguiar's Gold Class shampoo, two buckets and wash mitts (separate old one for the wheels), SRP (occasionally) and P21S or Dodo Juice wax. I am just about to try clay for the first time, and I thought i would go for the Meguiar's kit. I am also wondering about using a cheap Halfords polisher I have had in the garage for years and which has never really been used. I know you will probably all say to get a Porter Cable and learn how to use it properly, but is it worth trying the cheap alternative? Or would it be just as well to polish and wax by hand?
  13. Brilliant, as ever, from Ronnie Barker.
  14. Great stuff - glad it all worked out well.
  15. Is he selling the car or the wheels? The ad is a bit mixed up (apart from the wife bit, that is).
  16. I did the same on Dan's advice in an earlier thread and am very pleased with the performance of the Monster cable. Got it from the States via eBay.
  17. Welcome - whereabouts near Glasgow? There's a few of us on here now from this area.
  18. Excellent news - I can feel a visit to Ayrshire coming on! Let me know if you are going ahead with these plans, Paul.
  19. Thanks for the positive reply. Do you have the bluetooth adaptor, and if so, how well does it work? Also, do you use an iPod with it?
  20. Anybody know anything about the quality of this product? http://www.online-caraudio.co.uk/shop/m ... 30067.html
