  1. I forgot to add - they definitely got the immobiliser installed by Skidz in Falkirk, so they may be the ones to ask about getting rid of the voice. Don't hold your breath, though. I want to get rid of the reversing beeper which is pointless and drives me mad, but nobody seems to be able to suggest a way of doing it. Do you have this feature on yours?
  2. Enjoy the car and don't worry about the minor niggles! I bought mine from MacKay Trading as well - they treated me well even though I could have got the car a bit cheaper if I had been prepared to either a) travel a long way south to buy it or import it myself. Mine has an after market head unit which I've left in because it's pretty good - the satnav doesn't work of course, and I have tried unsuccesfully to get a disk for it for the UK from Clarion, so I've given up. It plays NTSC DVDs, CDs, Minidisks and the Tuner works fine with the band expander that Mackays installed so I'm happy with it. I think they got this work done at Skidz in Falkirk. The only thing that I regret is that I did not join this forum until after I had bought the Z. The stuff that I have learned from these guys is incredible! If I had known about the speed limit defencer, for example, I would have insisted that they installed that before I took delivery. I'll look out for you on the roads. Watch out for the cameras!
  3. Sorry Ming if this takes it a bit O/T, but I was wondering about the benefits of powder coating. Have you ever watched "Overhaulin'" on Discovery Real Time? They seem to powder coat the chassis (which they can't pronounce properly, by the way) of every car they restore. Does it offer good rust-proofing protection? Jim the perplexed PS Even though it's always Yank tanks they restore, they don't half do a good job of the cars.
  4. Jessica: Allman Brothers Band (Top Gear theme)?
  5. As all previous posts have said - glad you are in one piece and can smile about it now. Like the notice!
  6. Was there another one apart from the "could'nt" which is still there.
  7. Bloody hell! I took a look at that website - I never realised just how complicated the business of polishing cars could be. Any idea how much they charge for that type of work?
  8. You should remember that well-meaning amateurs can spoil things for the true professionals sometimes.
  9. When did you quit Top Gear, Stig?
  10. You're right, Andy, this is probably the most engaging thread on the forum right now, and one which promises to hold our attention for many months to come. I am also in awe of the quality of the work you guys do - I wish I had the nerve and commitment to emulate your efforts. More strength to both your elbows!
  11. That will be 2 Zs in Larbert then - that's where I live so I'll probably see you on the train!
  12. There's no such thing as a "bog standard" Z. They are all special!!
  13. Geoff and Monkfish. I'll keep an eye out for you around Glasgow monkfish. What colour/spec is your Z? Jim
  14. Thanks a lot for the list. Unfortunately it tells me that there are no Tesco 99Ron retailers anywhere in Scotland!!!!! I am about to write to them to complain.
  15. Is the 99 Ron only available in a limited number of Tesco outlets? My local one only has 97 Ron at the pumps.

So far so good. My car had just over 20,000 miles on it but was in very good condition throughout and I have been really pleased with it. It had very few stone chips on the front and the paintwork is in very good condition. Everything works well, it goes very well and the tyres are in good nick. I took the standard seats to start with, but I was thinking about going back to them to upgrade to the leather option they offered - the quality of the example I saw looked very good at a very good price. As stated before, they provided very good after sales service and I am thinking about using them for the next main service.

That's where I got mine. I was pleased with their prices and service. Proved very helpful in getting a spare key cut and sourcing a handbook etc.
  18. After what I said recently about exclusivity, too. I spotted a Sunset roadster heading for Grangemouth yesterday morning, and a GM or Blade coupe this afternoon on the A9 heading for Perth. Waved to both but I was heading in the opposite direction in each case so they probably missed me.
  19. My son's needing a replacement auto 'box for his late model 2.2 Prelude. Any body know a reliable supplier of secondhand or reconditioned units?
  20. Thanks, Tim - another job for the list!
  21. Do you have a brand name for the cleaner?
  22. Yeh - think I'll just leave it where it is and forget about it.
  23. ..this afternoon heading into Falkirk from Stenhousemuir. I was in the wife's CRV so didn't wave or anything. Reg looked like FR53 *** and was an import.
