  1. You should get a BIMTA certificate with the imported car; this will confirm the kilometres as recorded at auction in Japan, prior to export to the UK. This should be retained and can be used as proof of the converted mileage thereafter.

Yes - I think that spoils an otherwise good looking car.
  3. Not that many - see some of us on the member map. I can go for several days without seeing another one, thank goodness!
  4. 8. My JDM has mirrors that fold in, but you have to press a switch in the driver's door console to operate them - they don't do it automatically.
  5. IPA? When you're my age that most likely stands for India Pale Ale! Nevr heard of it being good at dissolving glue, just brains.
  6. Ditto to all the above, except I've never been near the M25 in the Z - the M8 is just about as bad at times, though, and the tiptronic allows you to relax as you crawl along.
  7. 04 car, think the reg was EEZ. Outside Pret in Bothwell street at around 12.30. Pulled away just as I reached for the flyer!
  8. Buy a JDM - no washers, never been a problem!
  9. Likewise a GM - I found one guy, Jonathan at Model Marque, who could get a silver one (from AutoArt in RHD at 1:24 scale), but not the GM standard car. I would be interested if you could find one.
  10. I haven't tried this on the Z yet, but on a previous car with similar trim, I managed to do a very good job with a light spray-on interior cleaner and a soft nail brush to get into all the dimples. It helps avoid the streaky marks and patches you tend to get with cream-type cleaners. Finish off with a soft dry cloth.
  11. Because it's light and strong and fairly easy to use so in a sports car that's a good combination?? And it looks pretty? I've no argument about the light and strong stuff, but I'm not convinced about these applications where clearly it is just being used for its appearance. I don't think it looks particularly appealing. Each to his own, I suppose.
  12. [quote="Emperor MingThanks for that mate. I fell so much better for that bit of information. I hope your next SH*T is a hedgehog
  13. I agree, Ming. I can't understand the fascination for CF.
  14. Did you also change the coils at the same time as the plugs - or are they expeected to last a lot longer? I know that they can be very expensive to replace if they go wrong.
  15. clear coat on the strut brace cover , but left the air intakes with just standard finish as it was a better match to the rest of the alloy coloured plastics on the car (door handles etc. ) And they're less likely to suffer any scratches or other damage, given their location. Makes sense.
  16. My experience was that gettng the right key cut was fairly straightforward if Nissan UK can be provided with the exact code from the driver's door lock. What took much more doing was getting the key programmed to the car - I had to get it done at a dealer and they had eventually to clone a code from another Z to get the job done. Fortunately my supplier was footing the bill, but I reckon it would have come to more than £100 all in.
  17. I think they both look good. Did you finish off with a clear lacquer top coat? On both items?
  18. I'm glad I'm not the only one.
  19. I'm really happy to have triggered a thought. I look forward to the outcome!
  20. I eventually found a Richbrook set with the Z logo on from KTM auto sport on ebay - shold be arriving soon.
  21. The way I see it, it is of interest to site members what we do as we do it so to speak. I have plenty of ideas and just enjoy working on the engine bay. H5 said from day one he would do his all in one go and i said I would do it bit at a time. I looked into the bay today and found something else to polish that I am SURE no one has polished on their car yet and although it is not obvious when it has been done properly it WILL be noticable It is little things like that i am sure will make all the difference. For once in my life I believe that it is being in the race that counts and winning is second!! Ming the Happy It's probably nothing to do with the bits you're thinking about polishing up, but it occured to me as soon as I got the Z that the material on the top of the radiator and the surrounding area is particularly dull. Is it made of a thermal plastic or something that it has to have that strange finish?
  22. I was travelling every day last week from Falkirk to Perth, Dunkeld and Crieff and back, and saw none. And, as my wife will testify, I rarely miss a sighting, because I'm so sad. It's been the same with every car I've owned. But I'm pleased really - the Z is still an exclusive car around here.
  23. Bet your neighbours think you're mad - mine do!
  24. Does that make mine the shortest? I originally intended to go for "Just Jim", but I finally decided that brevity was more desirable (and anyway it would have sounded far too modest for a z owner ) .
