  1. Yes - I saw these ones, but they don't appear to be the locking type. I think these would be an even better target for the little b*****ds that took my ordinary ones last week.
  2. Anybody know where I can get a set of locking valve caps with the Z logo on them? Don't appear to be any on ebay.
  3. Jobo. There are quite a few of us on this site in Central Scotland, and at least one other in the Aberdeen area. Enjoy the car, and visit the site regularly - you will learn a helluva lot about the Z very quickly, and get access to a lot of useful accessories at discount prices. Cheers
  4. So's mine, but there seems to be some kind of resistor or thermostat device within a clear plastic shield and attached to some wiring underneath each of the seats. Any idea what these are?
  5. And a bl**dy good suggestion at that. Think I'll pursue that line of enquiry when it gets near the time for a service. Jim the skint!

    White face clocks

Good idea. This is the kind of thing I might be tempted to try. I'd be interested to hear how the finish stands up to wear and tear.

    This week's Autocar

The Z features again in their best handling car item. The overall winner was the Cayman S but the Z was the editor's choice. It gets a good write up and the model they tested was the chilli red - I take it that was the one they are planning to do all the modding to?

    White face clocks

The match looks excellent. I take it you just masked up the Z badge?

    De Badge

same on my 03 JDM coupe.
  12. I have been trying to locate the dipstick and filler for the autobox transmission fluid, Tim. The US manual is not very helpful. Have you any idea where it is?
  13. Maybe the importer added it? I'm not complaining. Anyway - I like the colour coding - the car looks really good like that.
  14. I've just looked back at the earlier posts on this thread and picked up the points made about the towing eye cover. My JDM has one - didn't know this was an issue.

    City Parking

Has the Polo gone then? Did you hit the driver? We need more details.
  16. Well done, Janoof. Brings it all back again - that wonderful feeling when I drove it home for the first time and parked it outside the house. I had the camera out straight away, too.

    SAT NAV

I was wondering what sat-nav everyone recommends. I know a lot of members seem to have Tom-Toms and they are very popular, but I notice that there are some really tidy-looking units now available from Garmin, Navman and other manufacturers with the latest GPS receivers that should work very well in the cubby without the need for an aerial booster. I'm not bothered about things like bluetooth and maps beyond the UK. Any advice? Edit - now seen an example - Navman iCN 510 SATNAV Re-worked - online for £140.

    I Got It !!!!!!

Fabulous - making me think again about the Nismo kit for mine. I'll keep a look out for you if I'm in the Edinburgh area.
  19. Thanks again, Ming. I'll PM if and when he gets to that stage. Always better to go by recommendations if you can. Cheers.
  20. mate. I live in Larbert and work in Glasgow and Livingstone. Might see you on the M8. I don't see many Zs up here so I wave and flash at them all - some must think I'm daft! Mine's an import too. The Japanese auction standards are very high so the quality of imports tends to be very good.
  21. Thanks Ming - as ever a full and comprehensive explanation. I have a colleague who is comtemplating a restoration and I now feel confident in suggesting the powder-coating route to him.
  22. What's the difference between VDC and TCS? That's what my JDM has.
  23. 1. I agree entirely - even though it was cheaper than the equivalent UK car, on my salary this was a lot of money to spend on a car, however good. 2. One of the reasons I was initially drawn to this forum was that I did not get the impression that anyone turned their noses up at JDMs. I still think this is true, even though some of the posts on this thread seemed to be going that way - I'm glad to note that later posts have clarified the views expressed. 3. Import insurance is not the problem it used to be - I am paying £346 per annum - that's less than I paid Admiral for my Honda Prelude. 4. While I agree that the tiptronic is very good and is probably less likely to fail than a clutch, it will be expensive if it does. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I'm going to check the oil levels regularly. My son is in the process of replacing the 'box in the Prelude which failed after losing oil via a small leak which was not picked up before damage occurred. 5. The car is way overpriced.
  24. Pleased you made the sale, Dorian, but sorry to hear about anybody giving up a Z. Stick around, though. Your posts are always worth a read.
