  8. I should be fine at that time of the day!
  9. This always gets a reaction and I agree. They annoy the hell out of me!! Technically they should get tickets by not adhering to the rules of the road! Or flogged........

In order to be able to compare fully I'd say so. It doesn't have semi-slicks fitted, that's the Exige and very few Elise owners run anything other than your Toyo / Yokohama tyres. You'd have to learn how to drive an Elise as the MR set-up is completely different to your FR Zed. Apologies for going off topic.

Have you driven one in both conditions?
  13. Both might be cheating, but you ain't gonna get caught........ By much anyway!!!

As helpful as ever Its just that it is always easier to blame the equipment than to blame the person controlling the vehicle All tyres loose traction at a certain point, some earlier than others. Its a matter of learning the limits of your car. Or e.g. when you crash your car coz you missed a corner coz you went too fast are you also gonna say your Z is @*!# and you are going to buy an Elise to solve that problem? I ve encountered some fun ones myself with the Z on wet roads, with ESP on, simple straight-line acceleration on the highway and the back started moving when going from 2nd to 3rd, but hey, this is no FWD vehicle, RWD needs to be treated with respect Saying "my tyres are @*!#", "my suspension is @*!#", "my car is @*!#" is just too easy imho. Everything is @*!# at a certain level then (by which i do not mean you should not put decent tyres on a car or never do things to increase its performance. You ll just move the limits, but they ll still be there, you cannot change the laws of physics Jim ) Front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, 4 wheel drive, whatever, if there's a decent amount of power then there will always be a few moments. But I don't think there was any blame being put on the car or tyres, simply comments about how the different bits of the car work together. I'm sure the question was based on whether it was normal and to get others opinions, not sure why the comment needs to be so blunt! BTW, an Elise won't solve that problem. A mid engine rear wheel car in the wet isn't easier to handle than the Zed. It's a right handful but fun with it!
  15. I think it's quite a good way of testing the engine before giving it a big boot.

I've had this, and with my Toyo's in the wet, but only while they're running in (they've still only done a couple of hundred miles). I think the Bridgestones did it with a bit less control, with the Toyo's it is more of a twitch. I quite like it though as it shows the traction control isn't grabbing too early and it only does it a low speed. Maybe Nissan put an 'Ego Allownce' in!!!
  17. I don't know of any on here. I had a lot of discussions with the Wizard of NOS a couple of years ago, about the time Top Gear did that test with the Jag that blew away all the supercars. His approach was to put nothing more than a 5bhp 'shot' on a car, and he insisted on doing tests on the engine before selling you bigger jets to allow more power. At the time, he also offered a warranty on your engine at a cost of £1 per bhp shot you had on the car. He wasn't the cheapest but certainly seemed to know what he was talking about and had a very good reputation. Have no idea what's happened in that two year gap though. BTW, the only reason I didn't go for it was due to the fact my diesel dog was mechanically fuel injected hence not possible without a lot of other work........
  18. Sorry to hear it mate. At least you can spend the time on the Zed guilt free and then it will assist you in replacing the aforementioned girl friend. 2006 has been pony for me too.
  19. Auto Glass repair it now and apparently you don't have to pay the excess with most insurers as it's way less than the windscreen cost. So costs you nothing. IIRC, their advert just says to call them, they give you the details and contact your insurance company for you, and come to your work to do it!

    Got One

Nice, still not seen one in the flesh!
  21. Buy a trickle charger for the battery, a decent one will control itself and just keep the right amount in the battery, and keep all your alarm / immobiliser operational too.
  22. As with all the comments above, don't use a sponge on the paintowrk, wash mitt only. Sponge is on the list for wheels and arches to get the worst off. Clay bar is a very occasional thing agreed, and it's not overly harsh. If used properly with a decent lubrication then it does exactly as intended and pulls the contaminants out of the paint. I then add polish after that and only then, and then add Extra Deep Shine and then a clear coat. Then I top it up through the year with a wash and show shine, with an occasional coat of Extra Deep when the glass feeling is lost.
  23. But those 150 miles must leave a bigger grin on your face than any of the smileys on here!!!
  24. Kit list is something along the lines of:- 2 buckets Wash mitt Sponge (not for paint work, wheels etc) Shampoo (not with any wax / shine promises!) Water magnet / drying towel Clay bar (and water sprayer / lubricant) Polish (very mild cut) Wax / Protector As many lint free clothes you can afford Microfibre cloth for proper shine As for the wheels, personally I wouldn't use any cleaner, they're all acidic and all ruin wheels IMO. Use water. As Sarnie said Halfords do Meguiars, I mainly use Auto Glym stuff at the mo, both have offers at the moment too with gift packs for half decent money. EDIT: Jusr re-reading your post, you can drop the clay bar if you're waiting to get other stuff, but with the black it might be worth it.
  25. And if anyone wants some nearly new rears I have two on offer!
