  1. Actually with the Megs Quick Clay I got from Halfrauds, I got Quick Detailer and some wax P21S is awesome wax, but it is also soft and wears off quicker than others. Be prepared to keep waxing it if you want to keep the awesome shine it gives - which I do! No pain no gain!
  2. I'd reccommend P21S wax and then Speed Detailer inbetween times to keep it topped up. As has been said here:- 2 buckets Wash mitt (no sponge) Decent wash (not a combined wax - Chemical Guys Maxi Suds 2 is good) Grit guard (not essential but put in the bottom of your bucket gets the grit out of the mitt) Rinse Clay (not point drying it as the body needs to be damp) Rinse Polish / cut where needed Wax / Seal (huge range of products, you'll find your own favourite) Lots of microfibre clothes and about 3 hours for your first time. Job done!
  3. If you want to change it to double DIN then there are a few around. Alpine seem to have the best range of true iPod ready units, but you will need an interfaace to work it with the rest of the car. You can also use a single DIN with an adapter plate to widen your choice.
  4. I'd also put JL Audio ZR's and Morel into that mix for consideration. I was running JL XR's from Slash series (JL) amps, Alpine front end and 10W7 sub. Am about to go for the new install in the Zed but not sure how to go - probably still JL front end (through an H701), JL amps and 10W7 (I love that sub, gave me 19/20 on sub bass a couple of times! ) - main reason being I can't see anything having moved on generally to better it. The Focal Berylium stuff is hugely pricey for what you get IMO, and would go Genesis before that. Focal / JL / Morel / Rainbow / Genesis would give you a great sound IMO, and all are proven in competition.
  5. And also potential customers, I need to get the Z serviced soon and am currently choosing between Reading and Basingstoke. Let me know how you got on. I can vouch for Reading, a world apart from Slough.

    New rear tyres

I have two RE040's (rears) in my garage from when I changed all four of mine to Toyo's. If you're interested PM me.
  7. That's why I drive a 95 Volvo 440 - don't look like a rep and my piece of Jap exotica sat in the garage. I rest my case... lol - not sure where the Lotus comes into it! I agree with you though, things like that should be in proportion. The Volvo really is a battle wagon for abuse and keeping the Zed and Lotus away from bad weather, use for those servicing times and because it's cheap. I could buy another car, GF wants us to buy one but there's no need for two people to have 4 cars. Sarnie, buy an RS4!
  8. As with Louis' comments, most of the things I'd do have been outlined here. Except turn old oil platforms into offshore prisons then we don't have risks of people escaping. Plus, they'd be suitably mixed - paedophiles and rapists in with the murders and gangs. Fraudsters in with the burglars etc. Oh, and ban the Human rights thing if you break the law - it automatically means you waive your rights to it.

  10. Agreed as mine has done this a handful of times.
  11. Equal rights in the work place now. Labour and Europe said so! Of course you can let him know you're serious, you can't play on a disability. Advise him that without the money you will be coming to collect goods to the value of. You have the receipt when you bought it? Does he have a receipt saying he paid for it?
  12. A real demo would need to be in a car with all other things being equal. Having competed for a few years I've never seen Kenwood used but have tried swapping a few in. I've not heard of any new developments but will take the option if it arises....
  13. Ah, OK, if you're talking about flashing lights then I see. A lot of Alpines have options to switch all lights off so it does what it needs to best - reads the CD. If you want a lasting sound quality, get yourself an Alpine. The DAC's are superior and the units really do last. Plus they have the best iPod integration if that floats your boat.

  15. Each to their own, but don't say I didn't warn you! (look up IASCA and EMMA competitions worldwide and see how many use Kenwood - you'll see a theme of Alpine, Pioneer and Nakamichi... )
  16. Don't let your ears deceive you, especially if you were listening on a board in a shop. The Alpine will be superior.

    diesel

Modern day diesels are streets ahead, but they all rely on turbos to get going anywhere. Audi wouldn't be using them in Le Mans if they didn't have the ability to race with them. By the time you get them running as quick as petrol using a turbo there's no real gain in fuel consumption anyway, the Audi still only got 6.9mpg over the race as opposed to 6.5 for most of the others. Get something small and nimble IMO. A3 doesn't handle of feed much back, well made but old tech.

You didn't say if it was £20k on a new car, or used?
  19. Welcome! I've never been to the OC so I'm neither banned or bothered.

A Seat Leon maybe or some sort of Focus Sport probably. They have the chassis and handling to give something back IMO.
  21. For my warranty work on my gearbox last year, my P1 service and (attempted) warranty claim. All came to a head when NMGB intervened with my more recent postings about my corroding wheels at the beginning of this year.
