Is the Nissan extended warranty worth getting - 3yr old Z
H5 replied to glastoveteran's topic in 350Z General
I opted for the Nissan Warranty on the basis that they underwrite it (so is more secure than a dealer / independent company that may fold) and I know I'd get Nissan parts. As has been said though, it could well be dead money but then my gearbox work in parts alone cost £650 so it could easily pay for itself...... Welcome btw! -
Exactly, and thats the way you would have to play it...... Basically by firm but polite and put your point across in a constructive manner and then hope you get someone receptive! They made the same point to me, until I got to the MD who acknowledged it shouldn't be applied in those cases.

I've put my comments above. I'd add a grit guard if you can, and some interior shampoo for carpets. I use www.cleanandshiny.co.uk As for cleaning it yourself or having it detailed, that's up to you, if you want to spend the time doing it yourself. In a fairly short space of time after trying different products for yourself you could get some pretty impressive results.

I hope you got a discount off your new carpet. Got some chrome thresholds put in.

Well my letter seems to have had an effect!! Spoke to a very helpful lady today by the name of Mary who had been asked by Gary Figaro to investigate the case. She apologised for the way I had had some of my questions answered over the phone and has asked for some pictures of the current state of the wheels. It seems they never received any...... Letter wording below - Dear Mr Figaro, I am currently the owner of a Nissan 350Z, registered on February 19th 2004 as XXXX XXX. Your records show a change of plate to H5 XXX. This was purchased from the Dan Perkins Slough dealership as a UK GT specification car from new. You’ll be pleased to know the product is generally good to own when it is not touching the dealer network, or more specifically Dan Perkins Slough. Last year, when the car was being serviced at Dan Perkins Slough, I reported the optional Rays alloy wheels were corroding and I wanted them looked at. These were checked and Mark Burton, Service Manager, agreed there was corrosion but claimed it was not a fault. I disputed this and asked a claim to be put in on the warranty that exists on the car. After much chasing to understand how the claim was progressing, it became apparent no claim had ever been submitted. Finally, one was put in. I then received a letter from yourselves dated 12th January 2007, stating that the dealer had submitted the claim, but also said that the dealer had included the comment that they didn’t feel it was a ‘manufacturing defect’. I am unsure whom at Dan Perkins Slough is qualified to make such a decision, but it clearly shows no intent of sorting the issue out. At this point, I was getting close to the initial warranty period ending and passed photos of the corrosion to Mark to submit for the claim. Apparently this went in under reference number XXXXX, but I have had no response from anybody. As you would expect, I would appreciate an update on the progress of this claim immediately. Needless to say, I am no longer having my car serviced at Dan Perkins Slough, and have moved to Rowstock Reading, where I was surprised to hear their Service Manager ask me why my wheels hadn’t been replaced. Sound inconsistent? He explained it was a known problem and that it should have been resolved with no issue. At this point it is worth mentioning that I have purchased an extended Nissan warranty that I handed over approx. £900 for, to extend the cover by two years. I have subsequently been told that the initial claim under the original warranty was rejected as ‘it had expired’ (no thanks to Dan Perkins for the delay in raising the claim in the first place), so Rowstock Reading attempted a claim under the extended warranty, but again to no avail. Finally, a claim as “goodwillâ€

You could keep your Zed, add £15k to it and put a nice Elise / TVR in the garage for top down action mate. And you'd lose less cash and look much more
-
That's not a convertible, it's a £40k jack of all trades, master of looking fugly. http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/index/?serie ... odyID=CA07 There must be other proper rag tops on the list??
-
I can't put my finger on it, but they don't quite look right to me. Nice lip, but the spokes don't suit it. I think all silver would look better maybe.

If you put the fader all the way to the rear, what happens? If you play with the balance, what happens? There could be a wiring **** up. The only other reason couldbe amplified front speakers. If it's aftermarket, then the fronts could be on a power amp with the gain turned up and the rears running off smaller / headunit amp, so at any one volume level it sounds wrong. Finally, if the rear / front speakers are the wrong impedance they will need more / less power to run them, potentially giving the same result. Sorry if that doesn't make any sense!!
-
Not on my UK spec. If you prefer the sound to come from the rear then this is a problem. They shouldn't really be 'heard', but just provide some rear fill. The sound should come from in front of you as if the music we being played there.

I had a new carpet fitted the other week and the guy unrolled it straight into the side of the Zed, leaving scratches all down the side. I started off with AG Super Resin polish, and then moved to AG Paint Renovator. Non-silicon and did the job perfectly. Then bought the shine back with AG Super Resin and then added a few layers of P21S. In place of Super Resin you could use any other polish you fancy, but I suggest doing it that way rather than going straight in with the more abrasive stuff. You'll end up rubbing for longer with a more abrasive compound and risk damaging the surrounding area. HTH.

I suppose that depends on the disability You'd like to think the licence would be taken away if it does. eg. lack of sight etc. Could be the passenger?

It seems these people exist in their rep mobiles, believing they've mad it in life. I'm surprised he was in a Saab, they're normally the most inert drivers on the road. When I'm getting done with the Volvo, I'll put a post up here and people can bid for it's 'use' to be sacrificed in just one such moment. A sort of, pull along side and swerve into his door moment, or whoever comes up with the best idea or deserving prat on the road. Sorry to hear about it, maybe we need a new section and a map so we can plot where has the biggest concentration of self important jumped up idiots?

London to South coast trip - Sund 12th August 2007!!
H5 replied to N15MNO-Daron's topic in Meets, Shows and Events
was planning on making it a Saturday night to see some action on the coast From July onwards, it's a student / holiday makers paradise so makes little difference on the day of the week. Do both!! Plus, some of the other 'entertainment' falls in price then..... -

If it's a Sunday then staying down there on a Sunday night in the summer would be good and not too pricey......! -

Bournemouth way would be good, or the New Forest? Am up for this if the date is clear. -
They're not legal as they're not reflective IIRC. My mate had one on his TVR and he never had any issues as it used the right size font etc and you wouldn't notice it IS a stick on unless you were looking for it. Cheers Sarnie, that's why I put mine back on after I'd cleaned it all up... Let us know if you find something that does the job.
-
Sarnie, have you had any problems with the curve of the bumper and the plate pulling against the pads and it coming away?
-
Welcome to the clan!
-
If it's still needed I'm not far either, keep us up to date in case there's any mini-meet going on!! I can see a shocked Beetle owner as 6 Zeds turn up outside to look at a car!!
-
It'd be a shame to let this become a big point on here. We've all taken exception to posts (mods included) but at the end of the day it is just a forum and you never know what the emotion is behind the comments. If Sarnie has offered an apology then lets move on and we can all enjoy the meets etc.

Can't believe that's the case, wouldn't that make filming your kids in the park or taking photos illegal? I thought the law was the pictures were the property of whoever's camera it is? Ming?! Here is some sort of background http://www.nfh.org.uk/resources/Article ... part_2.php and here vis-a-vis hooking up a VCR http://www.nfh.org.uk/resources/Article ... part_3.php As I say I'm sure there was a recent case under the DPA and/or Human Rights where this was tested, perhaps in court, doubt I would've made it up - can't find the specifics ATM. I'm not condoning it, in fact it's cr*p if it is the case I'm not implying it was made up, just shocked if that's the case. Surely that would also make the sale of cameras for that purpose illegal to?! The law is most definitely an ass!

Am thinking about heading up, not sure yet.
