  1. I can only assume you are not very tall Dan..... We had one of these as a courtesy car while the Elise was being repaired last Xmas, and I had a lot of fun in it too. So nimble and easy to slide around and was very capable on the twisty stuff. The engine was a great improvement over the last one too. A great intro into rear wheel drive roadster fun. However, the Elise strips it for pace and handling, and the Zed is a different class.....
  2. The finish on the plenum, especially the detailed bits around the intake, are mightily impressive! Where did you get the polishing done?
  3. Yeah, I thought the corner thing too...... Was poodling behind an Evo MR FQ-blinding fast seeing how many gear changes it was before I couldn't read his number plate, when my rear view mirror was full of white. I couldn't believe it when I focussed on what it was. Pulled over and spoke to him, a Nova with 215bhp with uprated brakes, suspensions, gearbox and clutch makes for a potent challenger. He did acknowledge that the Zed was 'f*&king fast' though. Beware of the stealth warrior..... I've got an old Max Power somewhere with a guy in his mid fifties who manage to get a 2.2 litre Cosworth turbo lump in a Nova and he used to go out blitzing anything. Completely standard to the casual observer too! Nuts!
  4. I recently found out that stripped out 2.0 litre turbo stealth Vauxhall Nova's are quite fast.
  5. Looks like a tough life....!! May be up for this, will check the dates.
  6. Do you want a parade Tim?? We can all oblige!

    driving technique

Rather than something that is going to have dips and varying road surfaces, a sweeping bend that you know well may be a better point to start. There is also less chance of a horse / cyclist / stationary car too.

I tend to find that the exits of motorways and their tight bends the best test. You can normally get through at double the speed that they warn you is maximum. I'd start with trying at 10 mph under then build up. You'll soon touch the limit not realising how much speed you were carrying through the corner.
  9. Gentlemen, we have a winner! +1 hands down! Not too jealous.....
  10. No they don't. The input levels of the BOSE amp are between RCA level and speaker level. You will need to replace it. Which is a good thing!
  11. Welcome!! Even with the mileage I would say anything under £17k is a good price for you.
  12. Have you changed the front speakers? If not, I would recommend changing the front ones, fading the head unit forward and be done with it. Ideally you want the sound stage in front of you, so the rears should be unstressed and simply there for ambience. If you must have some different rears, I'd recommend something like these. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_comp ... comp_id=60
  13. Phil, Thanks for the heat shield - see pics below for fitting issue with the Injen - any ideas?? Cheers.
  14. Great news mate, well done!!
  15. You'd think so Zzzz.., but I think all of the clever stuff is inside the unit. By the time you've messed about with the wires you may as wwell just replace the existing one.
  16. I can get it shinier - want me to pick it up Sarnie?
  17. Not unless you're using standard issue Vauxhall paper coned and pressed basket speakers. Given the position of the door speaker, you'd be best off doing the build on the door card to create the angle. Would also mean a better position for the speaker to fire into, almost certainly raising your soundstage and helping the imaging. Just remember to do listening tests with a passenger in the seat for set up.
  18. I can recommend cold cathodes too, give a much softer light but very effective.
  19. Having spoken to my ICE installer and dealer I think the short and unfortunate answer on this is no. It's all integrated into the head unit so don't think it can be done. Unless someone on here has any light to shed.....
  20. Welcome to the site. Nice choice of Zed.
  21. I loved my crappy cars. They still got cared for as best I knew how at the time and was proud I could drive.
  22. I have to say you've done a better job than those three ladies.... It looks like you've taken your time and used the stuff properly. Did you clay it before at all? Try a few things and see what you prefer. The P21S seems to be a current favourite and very easy to use. You can do the bonnet in about 45 seconds. I've not used Zaino yet but have seen some of the results and it looks very good. Unfortunately it's been on non-metallic finishes and I love the way the flake in mine appears to be on the surface. As another alternative, try AG Extra Deep shine as a polish - designed for darker / new car paint finishes. Was very impressed with it. Top job either way, nice reflections along the lines of the car.
  23. Looks very good mate. I personally fine the 3 stage wax better than the Gold Class stuff. As an alternative finish I can recommend P21S. To keep it buffed to the shine you've got, get some Meguiars Speed Detailer. Keep it looking
  24. First car was a C plate, Beige Escort 1.1 Changed it to a blinding A reg 957cc Mk2 Fiesta a few days before I passed my driving test. Was brilliant and became my gf's first car. First car written off, Volvo S40 2.0 Sport, put it end over end after a full turn mid air......
