    20"s on a Z

Sorry I thought you meant you had £2k to spend on rims not rims and tyres. Volk do a number of their designs in 20". Here's a thread with lots of ideas... http://my350z.com/forum/wheels-tires/11 ... hread.html

    20"s on a Z

£2k on rims and I would be looking to buy Japanese wheels - Volk, Advan, Racing Hart, Work etc. I wouldn't spend anything like £2k on Mania's own wheels.
  4. Convoy? Definitely the best colour too Phil. If anyone wants to arrange a meet at our place we will lay on the food and refreshments, test drives etc, anytime after next friday, even a Sunday is fine. Will you adopt me, please?
  5. You're kidding, right? They're funky little cars and even rarer than the Zed! Some might say for good reason. Each to his own I suppose.
  6. The 3 most random request ever!!! I don't think we can accuse him of not searching!
  7. http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default ... ryId=18822 For all you Z fanatics out there.
  8. Apologies if I've missed it but who fitted it for you?
  9. Git! Actually my Nismo was wonky when first fitted but a bit of banging around with a mallet and tinkering by the by the fitter sorted it out. It shouldn't be impossible to fix.
  10. The point is though, a 430 has LC, use it, **** up your car and YOU foot the bill, just the same as Nissan. If you read on fchat or clubscuderia, NO-ONE dares to us the LC for fear of breaking their car. LC is there, ready for them to use, but they don't because Ferrari wouldn't pick up the bill. I don't see how this is any different to Nissan's stance? And no less deplorable as a result. Are you answering you own(non) post? No yours. Just having a bad day....

It is shocking what they try and give you. I agree that they cant really give you a Zed as most places dont even have one in, but you should get something better than a micra. My mate has the same with his Evo, and last time he got given a brand spanking new top spec L200 Even a Cash-Cow would have been better... After years of Nissan customer service I was expecting very little from Honda when buying a 6 year old car and they have been brilliant. Best service from a car dealer I've had in years.

I had one of these as a courtesy car last week and thought it was great. Mine had the 1.8 petrol lump which seemed pretty pokey. Best bit was the interior which has a real sense of occasion and felt really good quality. It looked great and had loads of gadgets. As an aside, I was taking in my 6 year old CRV for some warranty work and got a pristine, loaded Civic but when I've taken my Zed in I've always been given a base spec Micra (in Arnold Clark's case resembling an ash tray) - go figure!
  15. People have, of course, been banned from the OC previously for advising users of the existence of this site.
  16. Hi and welcome! Some people are just greedy!
  17. The more I read about this the more I think Nissan wants its cake and to eat it. Launch control has one purpose (unless anyone can suggest any others) - to be able to perform consistent full bore starts. Several other manufacturers offer it on their high performance cars and AFAIK (and I'm happy to be corrected) they are happy to market it as a feature of their cars. This bloke has been pilloried for "abusing" the car but full bore starts are clearly accepted by other manufacturers as something an owner might reasonably want to do in their high performance cars. I don't personally think that its so crazy to want to use launch control for the purpose it was designed for and if its there one would expect it to work without killing the car. I'm not naive enough to think that Nissan didn't want people to know about the launch control and the video above just reinforces my view. What they have cleverly done is incorporate and publicise through a more than willing press (and some of their own people) a feature in their car which to the uninitiated puts it in line with other (usually) more expensive performance metal. At the same time, it would appear that other components aren't capable of withstanding the forces when this feature (which Nissan have incorporated and fitted) is used for its natural purpose, so they've hedged their bets by saying its a "secret system" and that flicking the switches that make it work invalidates the warranty. Then when someone uses it and lunches a very expensive gearbox they can pass the blame to him for using the self destruct function that they designed. I probably phrased my question wrong earlier when I asked why Nissan would allow the VDC to be turned off - what I really should have said is why have Nissan fitted the launch control at all when the rest of the car can't withstand its use?
  18. Welcome aboard, mate! Nice Weds wheels there. Did it belong to the bloke on here who only recently bought them?
  19. Don't drive with the VDC off then I never took it off in my zed's or G as I didn't drive them like I stole them and didn't want to be hit with a massive bill. The only reason to turn VDC off is to thrash it beyond the parameters of what the VDC allows. Its a machine, it has limits. If you don't want to see what happens when you go past those limits, don't turn the VDC off. If there was problems with the transmission on cars that had never turned the VDC off then yes, it may be a chocolate gearbox, but thats not what happening................. Its a bit like having a big red button on the dash saying don't press me. If using launch control or turning of VDC is going to cause so much harm then don't allow it. Except then they couldn't hype their car up with unachievable figures.... If the big red button said press me and it'll cost you £10k, would you? No but I would question why the button was there in the first place if its purpose appears to be self destruction. This reminds me of when Simon smashed his zed up but wouldn't say whether the traction control was on or not.......it was obviously off but wanted the insurance to pay up......... Its purpose is to allow you to drive the car without the restricting gadgetry. As per the warranty though, you do this and it breaks......your on your own........ Were not talking about defective parts here, were talking about abused cars. Warranty will pay out on defective parts not trashed one, as any warranty on any car would. ...or to entice you to drive the car in the manner in which it is marketed and hyped and then coin it in when you realise that it can't take the abuse. I think your being too cynical. Nissan are only going to lose sale and owners from the negative press from this. Anyone who thinks you can drive any car like you stole it without breaking it probably isn't intelligent enough to have a license...... Its my job to be cynical.
