  1. haven't spent a penny, and won't be, this was a free thing i did. didn't buy anything, haven't added anything, but i think its pure genius. Follow Martins route! i will be following martin, or using him as a reference, but i have found myself another reference point as well.

  3. i'm tempted by this, but can't commit until closer to the time, it may jst be me or it could be me and the wife. will have to see how it pans out
  4. i had contemplated torpedoes but after checking the rule book it put my boat over the weight limit for entry, so i have something else up my sleeve. can't say what but i'm hoping its going to be my ace in the hole. will have to see by about feb 18th if its paying off
  5. i've packed a secret weapon for the next leg
  6. just checked the kick off time for the next leg on the 14th of feb. its 1 pm qingdao time, but there 8 hours ahead, which means a 5am start for us in the UK
  7. finally made it, i think that makes me 4th or 5th out of the Zed crews. 56471 16 days 11 hours 20 min. not bad if i say so myself. hope to improve on that placing by the end of the next leg
  8. i like to play them off one another, cos then i ring them and tell them the quotes i'm getting, must admit admiral have been my best bet at the moment, because i'm doing there 10 month multipliers to regain my NCB's used to use adrian flux, but found them more expensive last time. will have to do my usual ring round in august when the renewal comes up
  9. Wouldnt count on it these days. Mine hardly fell at all at 25. Just keep your license clean and make no claims, thats the best way to keep the quote low. Also keep it in the garage if you can. My insurance quote was £150 higher if I kept in the garage i found being married and a putting my wife on the insurance made mine plummet. insurers thinkif your married your wife must act like a safety function in the car, hitting you if you go to fast or are stupid (like mine does ) miles covered each year makes a big difference. i dropped from 12,000 to 9,000 a year and that helped. i spent ages on confused.com playing around with different options to find out how much each change dropped my insurance. i thought taking my wife off my insurance when i got the zed would make it cheaper, i was shocked when it went up in the quote, so i put her straight back on (doesn't mean i let her drive it, but the options there if we go out and oi fancy a drink. )
  10. my wife had done the same thing, bought a car, and then never checked the tyre pressure. we were in a petrol station not long after we got together and i offered to check her tyre pressures. her first response was "why do you want to do that" i told her that your're mean to check them every week. she looked very surprised. when i checked them they were at nearly 15lbs all round, i think one was on 10 lbs. when i asked her when she had them last done, i found out it was when she had bought the car brand new nearly 18 months ago. to her surprise when she drove off her first comment was "wow thats made a real difference, the car feels lighter and easier to steer. " and about 1 month later she noticed her fuel consumption had got loads better as well.
  11. well may the duel continue on the next leg this time there will be more compertition, as we have an equal start with the rest of the zed racing crew.
  12. i want the officals to check chris's boat for V8 powerboat engines. well done chris, good leg on your half, found all the good wind and produce a great overtake and finish
  13. chris, how the hell are you making 17.5 knots, i'm on the same heading in the same wind, and i can only make 5.2 knots. i have tried every sail config to no avail. i think your feeding your crew copious amounts of beans to produce your own artifical breeze. i thought i could smell something a bit eggy down wind.
  14. you've dealt with glynn hopkins in ipswich as well then
  15. having a laugh, 20k i had this problem back in october, i went passed the dealership recently and the car that they told me would be easy to sell even if i wasn't going to buy it... well its still sat there and still £5000 over priced whos the car genius know
  16. i don't slam mine, but i do drop it from just the right height, (i suppose thats slamming) if you push the bonnet closed you run a high risk of denting the bonet. i've always been a slammer. not from a great hwinght but just enough, normally takes me 2 or 3 adjustments till i get it right
  17. School finally got closed at 2. But we didn't get to leave till 3. Have been re enacting out the Matrix, had to clear all the kids off the field. Was then shot at with a volley of nearly 15 snowballs from the year 11 and Sixth form. Dodged every one but they got. Bloody close.
  18. sorry no its not, i got the boys to trash it and tow it away, you'd left it in a 2 hour parking zone last time you were here, and that was 6 months ago.
  19. thats alright martin, i own it, i'll get them to upgrade you to the presidential suite.
  20. i only have 1 nautical miles lead on you, its going to be a bloody close finish
  21. didn't log on till this morning, forgot to last night to change my sails
  22. i nearly got stuck at my parents last night, driving back from essex into suffolk was a nightmare. did 20 mph through most of essex, 30mph on the a120 and 35mph on the a12. i had control of my car, but what worried me was the other d1ckheads on the road. i had several people following behind me that were almost tailgating. even though they could see the back of my car swinging around like j-lo's butt. essex don't seemed to have gritted properly. as soon as we hit the suffolk border, it was still snowing but the roads were clear. loads of sideways action, scared my wife to death, even in 6th gear the rear kept kicking out, thank god for traction and esp. must admit nearly worn bridgestone re040s didn't help. they were bloody useless in the snow, have about 3mm of tread on the rear, i might as well have had slicks on. and to top it all off my school seems to be the only one in suffolk still open. managed to get in, but its due to snow heavily later, i'm more worried about getting home.
