This has been discussed a couple of times but no one had actually gone out and tried them. i decided that since i was getting my wheels refurbed i didn't want to damage them and i also wanted to add a red lip, and this was the easiest way. other benefits include the fact that 1 wheel had a slight flat spot from the previous owner. so it ticked many boxes. here are my rims pre rim protector so these are what i bought: Alloy gator rim protectors fitting takes a bit of getting used to, first i bought myself an electric pump for the job and also a rubber mallet i used a pair of garden secateurs for cutting as they gave the cleanest egde. the first wheel took a good half an hour, but that was down to getting the technique right. the other 3 were a lot quicker. i reckon it took me about 20 min per wheel after that including jacking, deflating, fitting and re pumping. i think the hardest job is cutting the second edge to make sure it meets well. mine or ok, but it was a pain of a job. here are some fitting pics this is the website for them http://www.alloygator.com/ out of all the versions available i preferred these as they fitted all the way round and not just on a few clips. love or hate the look of them, at the end of the day they should stop my rims from being curbed. yes i have wing mirrors but occasionally crap happens, and these are for those occasions.

body shop won't touch up, but will charge you by the amount of panels they'll have to do, so if its just the door, they'll spray the door. if its the front wing, door and rear wing, they'll probably spray the whole side of the car. a cheaper option is to look at some of the smart repair companies. they do just the damage and blend it in to the car. its meant to be invicible once done. i've never seen one done, but have heard good things from other people who've used them.

sterling job i think your right with wheel spacers would help and lowered suspension. tint the rear out and jobs a goodun. can understand your reluctance to kit up. and then late ron upgrade the rims and sell on the spacers. people always wont them so they sell easily

forgot to mention they did them in a day, drove up to beccles for 8am and collected at 6pm all finished. only problem was i had no other transport so they dropped me off in town where i sat in the local cafe with my laptop doing marking from 8.30 till 3 pm and then spent the last 3 hours in a pub with my latest top gear mag. day went surprisingly quickly got shed loads of work done and a gentle relax in the afternoon. i did drink something like 10 cups of tea and 5 pints of orange juice and lemonade. to say i was urinating like a race horse is somewhat of an understatement. i never drink tea, but by god i reckon i could have had a good go at filling an Olympic swimming pool from empty

they're not pink they're anodised red, which happens to come out with a very slight lighter shade of red

i know there not going to be to everyones taste but i fancied something completely different. always had silver wheels so its new to me, and i didn't think that the gunmetal look would work on the wheels on the silver.

thanks ian hadn't thought about that need to sort out the handles and mirrors, but thats already being planned etc. only other issue is what to do with the calipers, the gold looks really out of place, but not sure that going red is right, i think the red might be to much with everything else going on there.

well this has been in the planning for ages, but only really just got round to sorting it all out this is what i started with a lovely set of stock Rays alloys, mine had been kerbed and were starting to bubble, this is a common problem with the rays, and to be honest most jap wheels. i loved them so much i have decided to keep them, so without doing anything that hasn't been done on the forum before i've had them refurbed not done anything spectacular and i know others have been there before but it was just the look i was after. i spent ages searching for somewhere to do it for the right price. found several places on the forum with good prices, but once you added on travel costs etc it wasn't cost effective. so i went old school and go the yellow pages out... well i went on yell.com and searched for powder coaters in my area. my search lead me to Buckenham Blast cleaning services, they do all kinds of things, but have actually been doing wheels for 20 years. had a good chat with them and they bake wheels at just under 200 c and have experience in this area. all in it cost me £210 for the powder coating and i'm very pleased with the finish

i'd go for HFC's over decats, the gains might be slightly less but the noise is far less raspy. if your fabricating them yourself then make the neck for the O2 sensors longer to pull them out of the flow. should stop the lights coming on, basically building in yourt own antifoulers. personally if you had to go the decat route i'd go for resonated ones as decats make the exhaust note horribly raspy

good effort, but i wouldn't do more than 2-3 coats at most. to thick and apparently it can lift. was reading some painting guides for brake calipers recently. although those guides were talking about spraying.

as yokomo said, spacers would fix the offset problem

yeah i used them on my last car as well, wasn't worried about chrome as no one will see it

painting can look good, but pesonally i don't thin it will hold up to long term wear and tear. when painted at home; paint jobs will always be more prone to chipping. the vinyl has a bit more give in it, especially the DI_NOC stuff as it was designed originally for kitchen tops and work surfaces.

if you guys want to set a time limit for this and i'll see what the best price is i can get them for on the number we have. saves you guys waiting 6 months for 2 more people let me know what you think

the closest i came in price to camskills was tyre men http://tyremen.co.uk/ but camskills were still the cheapest. tyremen weren't far off and they are i think one of the main uk distributors of vredestein

yeah not my first choice i just like those particular ones, i don't mind split spokes, but 5 solid spokes can look a little sparse,
