  1. So for the last couple of weeks i have been loosing coolant, noticeable mainly from the heater suddenly deciding to run cold....so in the interim I've been topping up every couple of days with distilled water.....not a major problem, but because of the cold snap, i figured i may well be limiting the antifreeze properties......time to get it sorted!! had a good look around all of the usual suspects for leaks, top bottom rad hoses, the rad itself..everywhere...and no obvious evidence of leaks.....no coolant stains or anything on the drive. i was beginning to fear the worst...head gasket anyway so after returning from work last week and had been driving in the M25 carpark for about 2 hours, popped the bonnet when I got home....well, i could hear this faint but noticable whistle, like an old fashioned kettle going off.......had a good look around to see if i could spot the source...nope nothing visible . so after a bit of youtubing, and googling....decided system needed a pressure test.... so onto ebay, and purchased a fairly cheap pressure testing kit £37 with free postage!! and ordered some new coolant so drained and refilled radiator, topped the reservoir up to max line and connected pressure tester. got close to the correct testing pressure as detailed in the workshop guide (23psi), then the noise happened....i could hear liquid coming out... quick check of all the hoses and rad...nothing....break out the iphone light..have a good look where i could here the whistling coming from the previous time.....aha...the culprit located!!! arrowed in the picture...the small pipe under the plenum...the clip was in the wrong place and not actually clamping the pipe (you can actually see that it looks too far back down the pipe ) relocated clip...retest..pressure holds!! top up lost fluid, then go through the long and boring task of removing airlocks!! anyway...all sorted!! so if anyone in the South East wants to borrow a cooling system pressure tester..let me know I have one!!
  2. Mine has the sticker, but as mine is black, if there is stuff under there, i can't see it. i think its prime purpose is to prevent the rubber seal on the underneath of the roof, rubbing through the clearcoat on the roof cover. you could probably replace it with a decent PPF
  3. gents, i can definitely vouch for this mod...i have it running in my car now, sounds great...about a billionty times better than my FM modulator ever was...pair it up with a bluetooth media button for track advance and all is great!!

    car cover

Hi, There are mixed opinions on car covers on here.....i'm in the don't bother camp!! the car has to be spotlessly clean before you put a cover on, as any crud between your paint and the cover will act like a Brillo pad and scour your paint nicely!! I'm sure #ricey will chime in soon....... have a search around on the forum for car covers, as the subject has been covered many times.. however if you do decide a cover is for you...i hear good things about the Stormforce breathable covers Paul
  5. nice!!, green or orange!!

  9. Or if you don’t have a metal box to hand. Leave your key fob in the Microwave (don’t turn it on obviously). Microwaves have very effective RF shielding
  10. Sounds like a plan. Midweek would be best as weekends are now pretty stuffed right up to Xmas now
  11. Hi all cs2000 and I did the install today. And I’m happy to say it works perfectly. Sounds superb. Chris had already assembled a module and fixed it onto the tape section of the Bose radio so it was a simple case of dismantling the radio (a few screws) and swapping out the tape module. If you have already done the aux hack then this should be no issue to you. Once reassembled and put back in the dash the module paired with with my phone with no issues. Clear and loud tunes!! Much better than my FM modulator i also use a BT media button to give me fingertip control for forward and backward skip i use this one Satechi Bluetooth Button https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RM75NL0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CKAgAb4YV8HXW a bit pricey but but looks good and works well. There are cheaper ones this is is a great solution for those that don’t want to change out the Bose many thanks to Chris (#cs2000) for having the knowhow to assemble everything and for basically doing the install even though he’s just moved house
  12. I’ve got the nikfisk shown above. Works really well, with a couple of notable additions 1/ a decent foam cannon. The one that comes with it is for garden fertiliser!! 2/ get a longer pressure hose. It comes with a 6m hose. I got a 8m one from amazon and the extra length means I can get round the Zed without moving the pressure washer
  13. to the forum and Roadster life!! with the overheating issue, once its up to temperature, see if your heater can produce heat when the engine is on idle...if it blows cold, its a sure sign of a airlock in the system.....but fan failure is also not unusual!! these cars have a very slow and time consuming method for topping up and avoiding airlocks....i think #ZMANALEX has written a method for doing this, so a quick hunt around should find it
