so whilst waiting for the skyline chap to reply, I have been looking at the alternatives, and found this on eBay: RX7 Seems a good one, with a compression test looking ok. Any thoughts or suspicions? because as Rhian kindly put it last night 'im not manly enough for a car like a skyline'..
-
Good news, just been going brought the jap cars showing Rhian what they car, and she points to the bugeye Subaru and goes 'ew ugly supras', so I quickly showed her an actual supra 'oh that's pretty!' All this time she's been trying to stop me get a supra because she thought they were subarus!..she was actually protecting me! Utter madness

Well that's nice

The coupes are good fun, I had three gen 1 F2 Evolutions and they were quick for a 2 litre, pretty light I guess?
-
I love how happy the supra looks, its like 'yippppppeeeeeeeeeee..oh a hedge, time for some blackberry picking!'
-
Good spot, I did look into conversion, costs about £700 quid, a few have done it. I will double check with him though
-
I have never looked into importing before, but basically once I give him the go ahead, I pay him, it then takes 2 months to get to his HQ, then it gets fitted with fog bits, then its ready to get picked up! I had someone on facebook offering for the zed yesterday but I said I am using it for the wedding in May, he seemed happy to wait for it though. I am just waiting for more info on the R34 I do like the red interior though!

notice the stick in front of the handbrake

If your planning on taking the kid with you just make sure what ever you buy has space in the back for a child seat. UK law is currently kids have to be in child seats till 12 or 135cm, there's also talk a new law mandating kids stay in rear ward facing car seats till at least 15 months. Also don't forget to take account of baby sick/poo on the interior....There's a reason why we're keeping the child seat in the lease car that is going to be handed back to the dealer Yes, well im pretty sure the R34 would fit the bill, and actually Lilly (baby) makes less mess in the car than Rhian (partner) no marks at all from Lilly in the focus, Rhian has spilt a whole mug of tea in the footwell, and lasagna on the seat! We have found an R34 GTT (manual) which looks bloody nice. I am waiting to hear back with more info, but I like it! never had a proper black car either.

I notice in your sig that you had one..did it end badly or did you not get on with it?
-
I turn my nose up at Subarus, I keep getting shouted at on Facebook for it but I just dont see whats to like about them, Evos on the other hand.. ok ok, what about Silvias? a nice S15 would be ok. We will find a car suitable!
-
im not keen on the 300x, and sorry to say same goes for the 32 and 33! Spurs seem relatively bullet proof by the sounds of it, but do tend to cost a bit more
-
I owned a GTT but never driven an RX7 its too small inside for me I paid £4600 for mine , yes £4600 but it needed a little TLC Great looking car , i regret selling it but someone made me an offer I couldnt refuse perfect Ill take it

Ok well my mates supra may possibly be up for sale, he can't bring himself to do it but I'm pushing! He's a mechanic come sprayer, and has really tidied it up. In a lovely metallic sky blue as well. But anyway.. Has anyone owned the r34 GTT, is it worth still concidering?
-
Yes see that is just amazing, why did you get rid of it if you don't mind me asking?
-
I'm probably going to get asked to leave but, did you ever have an auto? I'm a big fan of autos but never had a sports car auto, apparently the supra twin turbo auto is amazing?
-
I have never driven either, my mate has a supra twin, and its a stunner but sorned at the moment so i cant get a ride in it. I really like the interior of the supra though!
-
yes see thats the point, mixed stories, which is why your experience of owning them is much needed. The money issue with the GTT isn't as bad as I have made out, I am still considering them, but looking into its competition, I joined the skyline owners forum and it seems a bit quiet.. I can take it for a drive to put it to redline every week thats not an issue for me really. I just want something I can take the daughter in when I fancy it. Budget given to the chap looking in Japan for a GTT is 9K, but I could go to about 11-12k if it was the perfect car. Theres no point buying a dud because it was cheaper.

I have been in two minds whether to sell the zed or not. Days like yesterday (the Llangollen meet) show just how amazing a car it is, and I would be truly sad to see it go. BUT I am still uncomfortable about the lack of seats. My partner has the family car, so with the 5 month old it isn't an issue having the zed, but I miss taking the fun car to the beach etc to show it off! So.. The first plan was R34 GTT, but I am struggling to get a decent one at a reasonable price, the yen is high so importing is difficult, and being generally expensive insurance etc is it worth it? The other two options on my dream cars are the supra twin turbo, and rx7. Rhian doesn't like the look of the supra, so that is a working progress.. The RX7! This is probably the one I find the most beautiful. Amazing sound aswell. But I am put off by horror stories of them blowing up.. Now I only drive 10-ish miles a day, and not at a fast pace so heating it up would be tough. I also keep on top of oil changes etc. You can also get a veil side one at a nice price. Has anyone owned one? Are they more reliable than people make out? Obviously every car needs attention, the zed has been no exception! But I don't want it for 4 months and finding I need an engine rebuild. Also not planning to track it George

It has been a productive day today, my birthday on Tuesday saw the arrival of a snow lance from my partner, and a plenum spacer from my family - not that they understand what it is! The plenum spacer was put on yesterday. I am so relieved you can't see the orange gasket - it would clash with the rest of the bay! whilst it was apart I decided to go ahead and spray the top plenum and throttle body black. I also ordered bonnet dampers which I put on as soon as they arrived this morning, since the misses is out for the day, fare play, the dampers make it look much more professional, and are fun to use! I also did another much needed car job, I finally fixed the passenger window! This stopped working the week I got the zed, and have been avoiding taking the door apart, but with the house free to myself and the wedding less than 50 days away, I needed to do it. I followed a 'how too' on this forum and it was amazing, as suggested all the motor needed was a good clean with electrical contact cleaner. I reset it and its all working as it should - including the little auto shut/open with the door. I even managed to retrieve 3 bolts from inside the door! success

yes those are in the pipeline, need more funds before that!
