I had a quick chat with a mechanic I know (well, my dad knows) and his response was that they would charge a flat rate to fit a clutch and flywheel, I just had to spend whatever silly amount I wanted and turn up with the parts for them.

I don't think I'm quite due one (yet) but have people got recommendations for I guess what we call 'fast road use'? I won't be doing donuts or go on tracks but you've got to have fun sometimes. I've got a 07 DE. http://clarkmotorsport.co.uk/parts/Clutch-Kit--Single-Plate-Organic/KNI25525-1A That one looks good for everything you get. However, if I couldn't spring for a clutch/flywheel combo how do the Exedy clutches stack up? Clark has them for less than £300.

I'd be inclined to keep my Z and pay for a new/rebuilt engine. Your car is a known commodity. You could get a great HR that winds up needing a new engine itself anyway. Maybe it hasn't had the oil gallery gasket done? It could develop/have any number of issues that yours does not. If you're not overly attached and would like a bike then perhaps option 3 is the way to go. I wasn't aware that 100k was a death sentence for Z engines?

I've been using Momentum 99 for a while, but I'm switching to V Power for a few months to see what the performance and fuel economy are like.

I might be in the minority, but I'm not a big fan of the HR bulge. I'm biased but I like the look of the OEM DE bonnet. I also think that the front end of my Zed would give yours a run for 'worst paint job'. The bumper is a totally different tone of blue and it's absolutely littered with stone chips (bonnet included). A front end respray is a must as soon as I've got 'necessary' fixes out of the way (such as deciding between standard shocks or coilovers).

I've done this a few times and once due to impatience in traffic because I'm a massive tit. C'est la vie.

Currently single fortunately/unfortunately so this doesn't come up. Any future SO would have her hobbies and money drains and I will have mine; that's just how it needs to be, I have had female friends in the Zed and they've all liked it, aside from just not being used to how low it is. A couple actually liked the noise and acceleration. Just hope the next missus appreciates my baby too.

Just ghetto enough to be genius.

I can kind of relate. Sometimes you just want to have something or do something without being part of that community per se. Or some people just have enough money to drop their cars into dealers and garages without asking questions or doing their own research.

That's ace to know. Banking that info for later.

It's not the sort of car you get on a whim because you need a box that gets you from A to B. Anybody owning this kind of car takes pride in it, so I'd be confident in saying that we would all have the same reaction.
-
At least you get it cleaned somehow. A friend of mine bought my Civic when I got the Zed and he's just abused it; always filthy, scratched, dented. Shame.

Turns out being 'Zed-bros' isn't as universal as the 'biker nod'.

Most new head units will have their own bluetooth built in and work completely independently of anything built into the car. The adapter in my GT just sits in the centre console doing nothing; I link my phone straight to the head unit itself. I then assigned the steering wheel controls to active the HU's phone feature, which talks to my phone and brings up phone options. Unless you're planning to stick with the stock radio, there's not much point taking the car's own bluetooth into consideration.

Fit an android double din unit. Cost around £200 from eBay. It's not branded but it suits my needs really well for the cost. (image linking isn't working for me at work but this is the same as what I have) http://www.ebay.co.u...IkAAOSwwpdW-h1U You'll need a fascia adapter (that you may need to file down so the unit will fit) to suit your year of Zed, a wiring loom adapter and a steering control adpater. In Car Tec is your friend. https://incartec.co....io/Browser.aspx If you know what you're doing (or can follow one of the guides) you can trim out a lot of the cabling I believe. I haven't done this (didn't want to f**k up) but I may do so in the future.

I dropped by the site looking at coilovers and saw the deal. Stop trying to get in my wallet.

The majority of people I know either don't clean their cars or they take them to cheap hand wash places. I don't avoid that to simply save the paint, but washing my car is therapeutic (particularly on a nice day). I've had people say I only do it because I 'have a nice car'. Then explain I did the same to my '94 Micra and my '01 Civic . Some people just don't get it. I do need a lot of my car respraying to be honest. The bonnet and bumper have a lot of stone chips and the roof has a rust spot or two. Need to have a word with our paint guy.

7000? That really doesn't seem like a lot. No wonder you don't see them around all that often. Definitely time for a poll. I joined the forum in advance of getting my Zed to gather some info. Admittedly I mostly post to get info or if I'm being lazy at work *cough*likenow*cough*.

I keep meaning to knock up some of these. I use blocks of wood we have laying around but I would be better to have something made for the job. Envious of the lift to be honest. I'd do bad things for a pit or lift.

I ticked mine over to 96k and there haven't been any real issues so far. I believe it's got the original clutch and 2nd can be a bit...notchy, I guess, (unless there's a gearbox issue I haven't diagnosed yet) but aside from consumables and parts that generally wear out I haven't had to do much. Really the only things that come to mind are loose/rotted heat shields and I had to replace a dead cam sensor. Revup drinks oil a bit, but as far as I am aware that's got nothing to do with the age, just the type of engine it is.
-
I'll probably have to follow suit some time next few months. A 'misting of oil' cropped up on the MOT a couple of weeks ago. I believe they're the original front shocks, so will have done 96k which is pretty good. No immediate need but it's something I'll be needing to budget for soon.

I'm hoping to get a PC sorted early next year. I'm on the fence about going with a 980 for less money or a 1080 to be future proof for some time. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it I suppose. Gotten well and truly lost in Witcher 3. I think I'm into the third act now, but I've got the DLC for when that's over (and there's NG+). I've even ordered a physical set of Gwent cards because I'm a loser.

I'm in the same boat and I saw these also. Very strange. If a local store had them I'd be tempted to go and see what we would be getting. That price doesn't seem right either way. Right now I'm looking at the shocks Torqen has for £300-ish (full set - fronts for now and rear for later down the line). I'd like to fit coilovers but I don't think it's an expense I can do right now.

With limited access and no speed limit. I mean it would be private land. Worlds longest drag strip? It would be great for bedding in brakes.

There's multiplayer but I don't play it. Much more of a single player person with a few exceptions. Most non-RPGs don't go very far into double digits when it comes to single player length, particularly with modern gaming where so much of the focus is on the multiplayer. When companies like Activision see players skipping their single player and going straight into the multiplayer, you can't blame them for shifting focus. And then you have the Witcher 3 which breaks 100+ hours without even trying, apparently.
