Hands up...Who cleaned their Zed this weekend..??
Z_Lover replied to WhackyWill's topic in Car Detailing
I would use a garden hose, a sponge and clear water to get the dirt off. After that u can dry it with a shammy leather.....................i do roundabout 15 washings like that when my Z is waxed...................no probs at all I think shammy (chamois) is a swear word around here! Using a sponge on bodywork wish equally as frowned upon. Not sure if it's a wind-up post or not :/ Good ph neutral Shampoo which won't affect the wax, towel dry, quick detailer with some clean microfibres. Thats only my experience,............washing vehicles since 1983 To be fair the pictures of your car look amazing! Thanx bud -

Times in the detailing world have changed quite a bit since then Michael. I used to use a sponge on my cars as well but after seeing the damage they can do to your paintwork and taking advise from people with much more knowledge on the subject than myself I have changed my ways. My basic quick car washing method is now as follows; Pre-wash: Firstly using a jet washer, followed by snow foam (left for 5 minutes) then jet washed off. Wash: Always use two buckets ~ one with my Meguairs Gold class shampoo in & the other with clean cold water for washing my woolen wash mitt (not a sponge as this can leave swirl marks ). Rinse off shampoo using a jet washer. Dry the entire car with a GTechniq drying towel (no chamois). Then I clean my alloys separately at the end using the same techniques but with their own wash mitt/drying towel. Sometimes I do other things but that's my basic wash cycle. Link for info on snow foaming; http://www.350z-uk.c...m-gun-can-make/ i am not a friend of that modern expensive stuff because if u use enough water(jet washer) to get the dirt off neither the sponge nor the shammy will make any swirl marks. We speak of a fresh waxed car! I saw a lot of presentations of cleaning products at german Z meetings,......yeah the guys want to make money with their business so most of them tell u what u want to hear. if u had no waxed car its maybe different- as i mentioned before i washed all my cars and motobike this way and i had no scratches or swirl marks and i have saved a lot of money for my 2nd hobby,...."drinking beer" -
a name is not a criterion,..........most producer started as a low budget brand,....e.g Toyo,Falken,Kuhmo,Hankook and so on A few guys from the german forum had Nankang tyres on their Z,...........critical at wet conditions but supherp at dry conditions,.............so u must know what u want
