Depends on how you drive your zed, if you need more/better braking, aftermarket would be ideal. If just normal driving, they should be good enough.

Zed need to be really clean before putting a cover on. Else the movement of the cover will scratch your zed. And for that reason, I don't fancy putting one on.

Are you 100% sure it's from the gearbox? Have you tried to rev to 2000-3500 rpm without any gears engaged whilst stationary or cruising?

I used to send my zed to ATS Euromaster yearly when they do recharge and anti-bacteria cleaning for around £35 via Groupon. Since they stop doing it, my next aircon cleaning will summer next year.
