  1. Hello and ! I believe there are quite a few around your area, got any pictures???
  2. Identical to the sound I get. And as you said only on cold starts, I have had it since I bought the car so I'm not too worried about it.
  3. I have a rattle upon ignition, and when the engine is turned off, sounds like it is coming from the transmission. I don't have any 'thumping' however.

    which wheels

I prefer the 19" staggered, love the black on chrome lip rather than the gold on chrome
  5. ................... I work in a garden centre....... Planteria being my department, used to run a few websites and do some graphic design on the side
  6. Private roads of course..?
  7. The owner Kenny Wan has a brand new gtr sat in that little garage! His wife owns LJ'S Chinese and Jo Jo's Gelato in Fareham!
  8. So have they damaged the seal on the ball joint of a brand new arm from not fitting the cones !? They have indeed
  9. Tell me about it! From now on I will be doing the work myself, or traveling to horsham!
  10. It was indeed, they are supposedly a Japanese car 'specialist' and had worked on many 350z's....
  11. Sorted the problem, the garage had 'forgotten' to put the bushing cones back on the new arms. I went to sed garage with new cones and explained that he had not fitted them, he even showed me my old arms with the cones still on. He was adamant that he had put the cones on?!! (He was Japanese and english not his first language) He wanted to replace the hub carriers both sides which would not be cheap. I jacked the car up today and put the cones in myself, he had put 2 washers on each side to supplement the gap caused by the missing cones. It was too late for one of my arms as the bushing had split on the drivers side, grease everywhere! Car drives amazingly now, absolutely flat and no knocking at all, will see how long the damaged bush lasts....
  12. I believe it is the compression rods otherwise known as banana arms, mine was the same up until about a week ago week ago, had all the same sounds and symptoms you are experiencing. And the noise rattling/clunking normally goes away under braking thats why your not hearing anything, something about weight distribution I think, all the front will be hunkered down and solid.
  13. I was coming out of the road just next to the leisure centre, you rolled by in front of me. Was dark so I am guessing it was black and a 55 plate.....
  14. Hello and ! The clunking noise could be either drop links or compression rod/banana arm bushings
  15. I normally get attention from other 'performance' cars.. On the way home I overtook an M5 V10, got to traffic lights and he came along side me, as soon as the light was green he absolutely booted it probably expecting me to do the same. A few weeks ago I had a Corsa vxr with a rather loud exhaust just driving along side me on the carriage way, he kept speeding up and slowing down whilst the passengers were shouting at me. and before that I had a 6 series bmw sat behind me just revving constantly, even whilst moving.
  16. Never heard of a squeaky rattle... any chance you could record the sound?
  17. Definitely in need of some new cones! who can deliver the quickest?! When the car was on the ground the bolts thread was visible, a good few centimetres from where it should be sitting flush against the hub carrier.
  18. Was just passing in the opposite direction by the traffic lights near the go karting place, I was in a blue corsa as I had just left my zed at the garage We locked eye contact as we passed each other.. I thought we were having a telepathic moment...
  19. Does sound that way, will give them a call tomorrow to see if they can get the old cones off, thought they would have known that really....
  20. The cones were on the old arms and were rock solid, do the cones come separate...? I can't remember now if they were already on my arms..
  21. those are what I had installed today, do they not already have the bushing on them? Can someone post a picky of what you mean, is it a separate bush?
  22. Car was down at Mission Motorsport, getting my compression arms/rods fitted which was hopefully going to solve my knocking noise which I have had since buying the car.... I got down there as they were closing, thinking it should be done (only a 2 hour it job), they were getting it back on the ramp and invited me in to look at there findings. This is not a picture of mine but best picture I could find to describe my scenario.. He grabbed the wheel and was able to move it back and forth with ease, all the play was in the bolt circled. The bolt was done up fully and had it pin in place. It was freely moving in the hole. What seems to have happened is the old compression rod had lost all its bushing until it was just a steel cone like thing, steel on aluminium.. from what he was saying I'm guessing the socket has just been eroded/hollowed out???? They have said that the whole (not sure what it is called) thing that holds the bearing/abs sensor/thing that all the arms are connected to needs replacing. knuckle? is that the right word? both sides were loose, drivers side being the worst. He did not advise driving it as under heavy breaking it could go badly wrong. They have given me a diesel corsa free of charge in the mean time. any expert opinions are welcome!!! He asked if I wanted the garage to sort all the parts needed out or if I wanted to do my research and get back to him, just want some ideas before paying out.
