My experience so far is that this forum is filled with a fairly small but very friendly bunch. Something I have never understood however, is the people who apply bias in their thinking towards the marque they currently own and hate towards others. Surely any true petrol head can appreciate the pro's and con's of any decent car without comparing it to their own to make themselves feel better?

This kind of thing is scary. I once saw a car gently veer (at 70 odd mph) from the outside lane of the motorway in front of me, all the way across three lanes of traffic, the hard shoulder and eventually, fly off the side and down the (roughly 30 foot) embankment, all without a dab of the brake pedal.

I have real problems getting my shopping (or anything for that matter) in the boot when I need to. I have the dividing boot screen and end up lining the bags up along the bit right behind the seats.

I went from a mk 2 ST2 to my zed and they are totally different types of car. Focus is FWD turbo with a high seating position and imho, really boring. Also, I'm surprised you were anticipating many problems in a 6-7 year old car, 5 years old is the youngest car I've ever owned and have never had any serious problems. Could be lucky I guess but I like to think I buy well.

I'd have thought you might find it easier if you can take a couple of photos with multiple light sources to get rid of some of the shadows. The auto masking in photoshop will probably be kinder to you then.

Welcome, my first mod was also spacers. 20/25 fills the arches nicely and def. the way to go imo.

I think this is as the OP described, lady in the left hand lane going beyond 180 degrees. Sounds like she is in the wrong but there are cases where the roads signs and markings indicate otherwise. Many people seem to have no idea how to negotiate roundabouts, I've avoided collisions on many occasions by anticipating some muppet cutting off the roundabout in the left lane or attempting to take an incorrect exit.

I think you need to set your sights a little lower and accept that it takes time to get in to a nice big house in a nice area if you don't currently have the funds. Inheritance is a large part of it I think unless you happen to have a brilliant job with bonuses in the tens or hundreds of thousands. Wife and I have been in our first house 3.5 years now and desperately keen to get the mortgage paid off as soon as possible because we're thinking about the long term. A big house would be nice but I'd rather be mortgage free in a smaller house with the prospect of early retirement!

We all know I'm new here. Back on point, I guess 'best' is all down to interpretation. If you're talking about something measurable like reliability or power then there are probably statistics somewhere that would close the discussion and that would be no fun at all.

It's just the Nissan designation. VQ35DE and VQ35HR Supposedly the DE stands for: D - Dual Overhead Cam E - Electronic Fuel Injection and the HR for "High Revolution". Not sure how much truth is in that. Thanks, I figured someone would know.

Only a very small issue but, on occasion, if I press the boot release button the boot will unlock and pop open but is then stuck if I try to lift it. I have to press the boot release again. Any ideas why this happens? Is it just the weight of the boot not allowing it to lift properly or do I need to hold the boot release button slightly longer?

Too much black for me so I'd change the wheel colour and go back to standard colour bonnet.

What does the DE / HR stand for?

Mine came with the correct adapter for iPhone 5 so no complaints there. The iPod option is also greyed out for me but, after reading the manual I discovered this was intentional behaviour. Still not sure I understand it though.

Just thought I'd update this thread with my observations of the AppRadio. Have had it a few months now and although it looks quite nice in the dash I'd say the unit is a little slow and unresponsive and the range of compatible apps is pretty poor. I really only use it for radio (which is good) and playing podcasts occasionally, spotify I don't really bother with as the ec touch app has a tendency to crash. Bluetooth connectivity is good and making/receiving calls works well. I also have a big irritant with it asking permission to launch the control app every time you plug your phone in or want to switch to apps mid-drive, makes it really awkward as you're driving along as you have to get your phone out and press the screen.
