  1. Yes 5w30 for the Motul and the XTR was the only Fuchs container I could find down the entry, used some years back for the wifes Note - but made the picture. That's great numbers, interested to see how you get on with Nanodrive.
  2. That's what we're here to find out, the kit or at least the picture shows that of 5w30 C4 designed for diesel engines and not a petrol..... https://h-dev.co.uk/product/nissan-350z-p1-service-pack/ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Nissan-Litres-Diesel-Engines/dp/B00BSBHTFO
  3. Following on from a discussion on my build thread, as most of us now have more free time I wanted to collate our experiences and preference towards oil and why. We all have our engine oil changed every 12 months or sooner, so there should be plenty of info/subjective data among us. - Generally the type of use your car gets, ie daily, weekend toy, show car, fast road, track or drift *combination. - What oil & filter do you use and why? - What oil did you use previously and if different, reason for the change?
  4. Same for home schooling, we've had a teacher's training day
  5. That's a very good use of time, I'd give the throttle body and pcv valve a clean out too.
  6. Cheers for the post, never known an engine be so temperamental to oil velocity index. Lad on the forum with owns a garage near Oxford, advised the same Millers Nanodrive 5w40 is what he uses in his DE and it since doesn't use a drop. Depending on what this does to warm idle pressure, might be just the ticket. I would rather use a bit of oil and have to top up and maintain a lower pressure. Lower pressure results in better performance, lowering the resistance inside the engine. It's very much a trade off between performance and protection. For the last 6 oil changes ive swapped oil brands to feel which i liked and got on with in terms of response, consumption and engine quietness. Looking back ive tried the following: Fuchs Titan GT1 5w30 C2 Used previously in a tuned SR20 and rated it, hence it being my first choice for the service. Used a noticeable amount oil, ish 800ml until the next oil change however i had been on track a few times that year so its to be expected. Overall very happy and for the costs, big thumbs up. Shell Helix Ultra 5w30 AG Used for all of 1 month and did another oil and filter change as it was absolutely shocking!!! During the first drive to work and once warmed up, put my foot down on a slip road to join the A45 Meriden and it honestly felt like i had the handbrake on 2 clicks. The engine felt so gutless i thought the newly fitted magnetic sump plug was attracting the crank. Wouldn't recommend for any application, other than a Vauxhall Combo van. Motul 8100 eco-nergy 5w40 A5/B5 Heard very good thing about this oil so of course gave it a try, now being very aware of the affect oil blends can have on the VQ35 if you're paying attention. Felt ok, nothing special - a country mile better than Shell Helix AG however engine didnt feel as fruity or as eager compared with Fuchs Titan. Few more track sessions and the 10 litres bought initially (engine consumed 1300ml of it) was discarded into family members engines as top ups over the coming years. Used more than i would expect as i found out that one of my cam solenoids was all gunked up from sealant, plus made the mistake of starting the engine for a moment with these removed in an attempt to flush out any remains. The pressurised oil fountain was something to behold Fuchs Super Syn 5w40 Back to what i knew and went for a 5w40 grade. Engine felt great again and had minimal consumption. Warm idle oil pressure went up noticeably on the gauge compared to all other 5w30's and i do prefer a slightly lower pressure for engine response and feel it must work the pump a tad less. No track action so weren't able to really compare with that regard, however routinely im happy to check and top up as and when needed. Again another very good showing from Fuchs. Castrol Magnatec Stop-Start C3 Again used Magnatec in my old SR20 for years and years and never had an issue with it. Paying attention to the blend, visually to shake in a clear bottle (500ml left under the boot floor for top ups) the fluid has an almost elasticity/slime charater about it. All other oils I've used would come to a gradual rest slopping side to side in the container, this would come to rest abruptly as if it had memory. Very bizarre and never experienced anything like that this side of Nan's Sunday trifle. Funky magic fluid business aside, engine felt great and last year getting back out on track engine felt great. Warm idle temperatures higher than with the other 5w30's which peaked my interest. On a plus note, @cob1980 mentioned at the last midlands club meet of 2019 just how quiet the engine sounded being right up close. For the costs, very oil consumption would recommend for any daily VQ35 owner. Millers Trident 5w30 C3 This will the 6th different oil ive tried and not much to report as yet, cars not come off the drive sadly. Will be looking for warm oil pressure, engine repsonse, engine quietness and road daily driving consumption. Catch can is drained every other year due to the low annual mileage. EDIT - almost 6th months later using trident 5w30 and it's a keeper. Warm idle is exactly where is should be 12-15psi and the engine feels nice and lively when pushed. Topped up by 400ml in this time, no commuting due to lockdown mostly nice drives out/fast road. Also the oil is starting nice and clean when checking the oil level which hopefully is a good sign of being well looked after. First couple of oil changes I did it came out very dark. For the price and as well, £22.50 delivered for 5ltrs it's a very good oil for the VQ35DE.
  7. Props to all the key workers out there. My wife being a private carer has worked the last 7 days straight, break yesterday *hence the oil change update and is back at it again.
  8. For a daily it's tidy, a basic oil change takes me ages and I'm always busy cleaning and having a good poke round underneath. Servicing and routine maintenance, I've luckily always done myself since owning my first car almost 20yrs ago as I enjoy it. Plus if you do an oil change yourself, you can drain out more old oil compared to a garage. https://streamable.com/0ux7f
  9. Annual service carried out while in lockdown, 13 months since the last service however it's normally done every March - so today has brought it back into line. Millers Trident LL 5w30 C3 K&N oil filter Air filter clean Mileage 86646
  10. Technical Service Advisor for a vehicle leasing company and currently working from home, juggling home schooling with 1 Link authorities. Very lucky to be able to do so during this time on full pay.
  11. Looks unreal, saw this last year at C&M and totally don't know how you managed it up the entry ramp lol
  12. Nice mods fella, it's really doesn't matter which side the fault relates too as OE cat re-fitment or remap are your only long term remedies
  13. Death toll breaks 1000 in the UK, 260 in the last 24hrs alone. Hope everyone on the forum are ok.
  14. Hi Dan, Just renewed my second car with yourselves, spoke with Chloe just now and the service was fantastic - policy 259209205 beating Footman James by very nearly 20%. If you can pass on the feedback, that would be great. Cheers David
  15. Knew you'd go air sooner or later as we sadly don't live in Austria. I'd always thought mad camber would result in tyre scrub on the inner edges or have you flip the tyres for prolonged life? Love that spring time detailing session too!!
  16. I work on 1 link authorities and it's super quiet too
  17. In an Iceland by us, there were two bags of pasta left and I picked up one because I'm sure the person that picks up the other will be just as happy as I was. We've known our society for years, when do you ever arrive at a buy time jet wash and find the hoses untangled ready for the next person, hardly ever. When is a person truly happy towards another person doing well? How many folks car ding another person's vehicle and couldn't give a $hit. Happens daily everywhere, people don't have common sense these days and it's bought on by stress. It's fact if you look it up, stress makes a person less intelligent and more susceptible to ill. The media creates panic and stress to which folks make dump choices, it's very much scripted. The average Englishman is a negative Nigel and bought on by years of stress programming. For a youtunber which video would get the most views, 5 things I love about my 488 or 5 things I hate about my 488
  18. Another option might be to visit your local BP to use their 'buy time jet wash'. Bring your prewash spray bottle, apply to the vehicle and using £1 worth, jet wash the vehicle off getting into all the arches and door shuts. A vehicle with a decent wax or sealant, most of the road grime will come off - but do work methodically. Then once home I would then go over the car with something like this, which will safely remove the last bit of dirt left and topping up your coat of wax at the same time. The drive home will have also dried up alot of the water ready for when you get home. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meguiars-G3626EU-Ultimate-Waterless-768ml/dp/B006FUT0CS/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=waterless+wash&qid=1585295355&sprefix=waterless+was&sr=8-3 Question, how do you normally wash your car?

  20. The knack is to apply pressure with the palm of your hand to the joint on the arm, which pops the arm off the wiper motor splines *if having trouble with removal
