  1. If somebody has fiddled with the strut in the bay and hasn't been tightened enough, that can rattle. Bit of a long shot but you never know.
  2. Update: Mark's been round and sorted out the problem on the drive way. It appears that he used a map for a GT car which mine is not. Even though it shouldn't matter it did. It doesn't have cruise control and that was what was causing the ROM error. A quick flash of the ECU with the right data and it was done. Superb!!
  3. You may have to get it mapped so that it does that. i recently got my DE mapped and was asked if i wanted pops and bangs/flames, so i said yes. The mapper just made sure the ECU drops a little more petrol into the exhaust so it pops/bangs or ignites when the accelerator pedal is lightly touched.
  4. The E92 330d is an awesome car!! Eats up the miles and wafts around on a cloud of torque. You can always have it mapped for less than a couple of hundred quid and get 500 ft pounds of torque Rapid!!
  5. Tough one. Of course check all tires to find the offending stone. if it's a sticking caliper, that wheel will be the dirtiest, that's one way to identify a sticking caliper if you didn't already know. If it's not that and you think it's a clicking axle then i know there is a sticky on this forum somewhere that tells you how to DIY.
  6. i wouldn't be too harsh on 0 - 60 times. it's the same as 50 -80 and so on, it's just an indication of what's possible in a particular parameter. Would i buy a car based on it's 0-60 time? No i wouldn't but it's an interesting factor of a car IMO.
  7. Excellent work!! You're young and have the car of your dreams, i know you're gonna love it and what better time to do it, when you're young! Enjoy it and pull as many birds as you can in that fanny magnet.
  8. Funnily enough, it was only this morning on the way to work, going down the dual carriage way in the fast lane that the traffic slowed down to 60 mph. Everyone was pacing the same speed as the slow lane and there was a perfect sized 4x4 gap between me and the car in-front and, lo and behold! Here comes misses KIA who wants to squeeze in between me and the car in-front and that indicating makes it o.k No, it doesn't not when you have to speed up because my front bumper is past your back bumper you absolute f&*king cretin!
  9. Yeah i know!! He said it's nothing serious and the car is still fine to drive if i want to prior to his arrival.
  10. Update: Spoke to Mark at Abbey. He has had a look at the codes and thinks it's a little odd but he has offered to come to my house and sort it out for me free of charge.which is fair enough. Top man! He has said that maybe the tolerances are not quite right.
  11. i'll get the codes checked out again tomorrow and see what's what. if this is in reference to the cruise control switch, mine doesn't have cruise control. Mine is the boggiest of the bog standard zeds.
  12. Nope! EML came back on after a 20 minute run. Is there anyone that can show me the way forward? What should i do next? Lambda sensors?
  13. ok so here are the codes. 3 of the buggers: P0605 P1564 P1283 Apparently P0605 means that the PCM/ECM has a fault. i read that sometimes this code is thrown up after a re-map. P1564 means there is a fault with the cruise control or cruise control switch. the funny thing is, my car has no cruise control P1283 is something to do with the lambda sensors. i have had all errors deleted along with the EML, so i'l take it out for a spin for a while and see if it rears its ugly head again.
  14. Ok but, people who come up to you to talk about the kit on the car are going to be the ones who like it. No one - unless they're really rude - are going to walk up to you and say " hey! that kit!! it's awful!"
  15. Going to do that this afternoon with a friend's snap on tool. i'll report back
  16. I had the re-map done @ Abbey who cancelled the O2 sensors could be, but after a re-map? seems a little odd.

    EML

Yes, that dreaded EML, and after a re-map too!! Car still runs fine though. So, i'm going to try and reset the ECU, should i try disconnecting the battery first? So annoying. Has this happened to anyone else after a re-map?
  18. Mine is on the original clutch too, still nice, 85k, it does use a bit of oil but that's because i give it some wellie
  19. Everyone knows the DC5 is a sensational car that responds well to modifcation in terms of an N/A. But it depends how open you are to suggestion in replacing your Zed gumpy. Would you have an early 90's weapon or would you prefer something more modern? Would you stay Jap or do you fancy going Euro or American?
  20. i think it's hard to judge a program from it's first broadcast, but from what i saw, the banter between Le Blanc and Evans was a little wooden, nice try though, but the format does seem the same which is fine if you like that kind of thing.
