  1. Opposite end of the country.... Kent. I think SVM offer a collection/drop-off service (they are only 100 miles from Sheffield). I would definitely spend as much as possible on the best car you find. Thats why its so hard to change from the GTR, its so good all round. And dont think that you wont take it on track.... you seen realise that the car is wasted on the roads and the only place to truly see what it can do is a race track
  2. I think there is 2 red ones that go to Sly Mine has the duckbill
  3. Interesting findings.......... missus and I track a MK2 MX5 (pretty much standard) as well and after a day at Thruxton we decided on:- 1. seats (unbelievable how much we both move around in the car) 2. suspension - watching a friends video while he followed the MX5 is just comical.... its really does look like a boat 3. wheels and tyres - we are running a mix of tyres and 1 is losing pressure and the current tyres dont seem to like getting warm, at all 4. on the braking front, I have already done braided lines, brake booster bracket thing and a fluid flush and the brakes were good, never had an issue 5. (in the winter)....... SUPERCHARGER!!!!! Interesting.... let me know how you find these pads (if you try them), know I am going to need a set soonish Looks rather nice
  4. Where are you located? Might be a bit over the £40K budget still Stu I'd guess ~ had a look after me, SMD and ATTAK Z were chatting about them & they were around $45K+ used. Personally I'd go for the GTR especially as I've heard prices for them seem to be going up rather than down for the most part so could be a good investment. Sad state of affairs yes, the price on the 2009/2010/2011 cars is holding pretty steady (at least for the good ones). They are great cars, but they are expensive to maintain... I have had mine for 3.5 years now (from new) and it runs a little over 600hp. Its the longest I have ever owned a car and have no intention of selling any time soon. I tested a C63 and I found it underwhelming............ the noise was nice, but that was it. Then you have to deal with Merc dealers Technically, yes.... Nissan used the 2 service schedule purely as a method of "keeping an eye" on cars to see if anything was outside of tolerances, parts had excessive wear, etc. Considering the miles you are doing, 1 service a year is acceptable, but I wouldnt go as far as recommended. Personally, I like the fact the Sly sees my car at least twice a year. Even if its just a small oil change. I dont know the cost of servicing alone as I have never had just a service done there is always other parts going on changing, etc. I have had 4 adults in the GTR, but its not comfortable and I wouldnt go very far like that.... we were all quite short as well. I plan to remove the rear seats and put in a small rear half cage............ eventually. Not necessarily, you really need to speak to a specialist and see what they about servicing. My car is tracked and its not that bad on the tyres and oil, its the brakes that take a beating!!! Usually my red one, right? Car spends way too much time there.... Most definitely.... Sly has been servicing my car from day one and is fantastic! In fact, I am collecting my car from him tomorrow morning. If you are serious about a GTR pop over and have a chat with him and if you are there between 0930 & 1000 I can take you out in my car
  5. Normal sale time for property in Switzerland is 2-3 years, no one there is in much of a rush.
  6. Im not far from bletchingley. Im in horley Cool, dont own a 350z anymore.............
  7. I think its not the assembly thats the issue, its the smaller components that are bought, like sensors, etc. For me, it was also the service received from the dealer and JLR UK that has forced me to have such a harsh opinion of JLR.
  8. Yeah, everything in Switzerland is expensive, especially food and property, but thats because they dont do anything really cheap....
  9. The drifting sounds great! And yep, I managed to hit 175 on the straight, the pro managed to max it out at 186!! Although I was battling with a crazy amount of wind and a lot of rain, that's my excuse anyway!! I would love to get myself into a GTR, need to get some more track time booked! Sounds like a good day then
  10. Been out with ProDrifters as well, thats fun as well..... just look at where you are going, not where the car is pointing Track looks similar to Bruntingthorpe for the ASDA day 160-170mph down the back straight on those events Thats a shame.... they be looking at trying to pull the GTR guys across, like Aston is.... hoping to get a test day with a couple of different cars
  11. I lived in Switzerland and have traveled around a few times..... Scenery is EPIC!!! But be careful on the roads, they dont like modified cars (illegal for locals), they dont like speeding, there are a lot of cameras and they change the speed limit quite often. Got 3 fines in a rental car and luckily 0 when I went across in the GTR. They do love their Maseratis, Astons, etc, seen some awesome cars out there. Post up your basic route and lets see what you have so far! Also, do NOT try and sneak anything meat or alcohol based in (very strict limits), they really dont like it and will take the car apart at the border crossing.
  12. Sounds like a great experience What track did they take you out on? Being driven around by pro driver is an experience on its own. I have been out with Touring car drivers, rally driver (in my own car), etc and its brilliant!!!!
  13. dont blame you, last quote took me a while to figure out You say that, but so many people I know have had bad experiences with LRJ brand, its also the fact that a complete failure resulted in almost no brakes, no brakes lights, etc.... I trust my GTR on track, there is just no way I could put the same amount of trust into the Jag. Well I am not too far from you and do venture down that way quite often v8 supercharged is still the dream You're entitled to your opinion, and if you know that many people who have had issues, then nothing I can say will sway you. I work with Jaguar, so I can only really give you my five eggs on them. I will never say anything particularly derogatory about Land Rover - but will admit that they have had their fair share of issues, and upset customers. With regards to the F-type, I have now done an absurd amount of track mileage in F-type Rs and V8 S models, and (particularly with the Carbon Ceramics) would put my life into it over and over again. Yes, please do. Just drop me your number. I'll try to get you out on a Goodwood day or something, get you out in the F-type R Coupe I'll let you know when we next have space No, it would require me taking a chance on the car (in my mind....). Still love the look and style of it though, will be a very interesting comparison to the Aston Martin, since that is on my list next (but I will be keeping the GTR ). Just let me know when weekdays as well

  15. I see I havent missed much...........
  16. What's led you to believe the build quality is questionable, chap? Number of things:- An ex-GTR owner that bought one and then gave it back after a week or so Jaguar Land Rover...... Having had a new Range Rover, the thing spent more time back at the dealer than at my house Seen quite a few on the roadside and on the back of flatbeds Quite a few posts about issues http://www.jaguarfor...f-type-x152-72/ Recalls http://www.autoblog....ctrical-recall/ Mainly, it comes down to my personal experience with LRJ as a company (that includes the individual franchise and LRJ UK).... the sales service is great, follow-up service is shocking and after-sales was just appalling. A 5 month old recall for America Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That was in the first page of looking.... GTR isnt bad, a few rattles, but nothing like what we had with Land Rover. Evoque and GTR both bought brand new..... issues with GTR (3.5 years @ 600hp and being run for events and track days, so hard life):- new set of headlamps - condensation, replaced under warranty steering lock recall/fix - replaced under warranty bellhousing - replaced with aftermarket fix Evoque (1.5 years), I think we had roughly 10/11 LandRover Assist callouts, the guy doing the callouts was great, very helpful and got to know us quite well:- headlamp draining battery - car wouldnt start door lock - kept popping door open, setting off the alarm and turning on the interior lights, car wouldnt start seatbelt sensor - kept beeping, which although nothing major is bloody annoying after 5 minutes petrol cap locking mech failed in locked position - unable to put fuel in fuel filter failed 40 miles after service - car cut in town alarm kept malfunction Had multiples of some of them.... We even had JLR tell us that they have been testing for the last 3 days and no issues (with a lot of attitude) and while we were sitting the door popped open and the alarm went off. No apology, nothing. Honestly not been in the Jag, it looks great and I dont doubt that it will be a great place to sit, but I do not trust the brand at all. I even looked at the Jag estate, as I really like those, but its the same story. And for those that think the brand nothing short of perfection, a lot of what is described as going wrong on the discos is very similar to what was happening on the Evoque:- http://landroverhell.com/ Number of things:- An ex-GTR owner that bought one and then gave it back after a week or so Jaguar Land Rover...... I'm sorry you've had some bad experiences with the brand Graham. I can honestly say from my position, I've never had a bad word said about the F-type, barring a rattle from the hood of an F-type R Convertible. The early new Range Rovers did indeed have some issues... I feel perhaps they were rushed out a bit early, due to extreme customer waiting times. May I ask why your fellow GTR owner returned his F-type? All I can say really is that I'm sorry you've had these issues, particularly with aftersales. It's something that the company is working quite hard to improve at the moment. I hope that if you ever choose to try the brand again in future, do drop me a line first. Without sounding rude, do you work for them (sounds like it)? Problem is that its the attitude that came from JLR UK as well as the dealer.... JLR UKs response to us, was we will take the Evoque back at 15-20% below trade-in value, but only if we bought another new one. Trying to find the post he wrote about it.......... and found:- http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/213321-my-nearly-new-car-dilemma.html

  18. Lovely sound, but surely it would get annoying on a long road trip or constant cruising. Also a shame that the build quality is questionable!!
  19. There is a black TC or SC 350z just around the corner from me, in Bletchingley.... anyone on here? Its always being polished or worked on, never seen it on the road
  20. I expected more progress in the 4.5 weeks that I have been away
  21. Well my list is: Ford Escort MK1 and 2 Datsun Zs Nissan Skylines - hakosukas Porsche 911 - 60s & 70 Porsche 911 993 Mercedes SL - the old ones NSX
  22. Some of those tweets/comments are just utterly pathetic and UNACCEPTABLE! Threatening someone over a stupid TV show (and yes I am a TG fan) is just unacceptable. One comment "...going to lose money and viewers", is this really what this world has come to? The BBC had no option, or did they??? Oddly, I have a friend that was assaulted on the tube about 18 months ago. The aggressor was prosecuted and was given 200 hours of community service and it went on his permanent file. For Clarkson, maybe it should have been similar, hand the case to the police and allow the courts to do the punishing........ public apology, fine, community service.
