  3. Final piece of the puzzle arrived today Im away on a GTROC Tour from Friday for just over a week and then this goes in once I am back.
  4. That doesnt look very productive, but I will take your word for it
  5. That will be one way of killing the show off for good! Will also depend on the other presenters
  6. Which is why you're trying to find reasons not to like him. Nowt wrong with that, but you're wrong about him not being a petrolhead. Really, try his books, even if you steal them from the internet, it'll change your view. He's a great writer and his life story is just amazing. As an example I used to dislike Bernie, until I read his official biography and now I have a grudging respect for the dwarf. It wasn't the presenters that stopped me watching TG, it was the format and the scripting. If they carry on in the same style then I won't be watching this one either, but if Evans can get half a chance at putting his own spin on it, I strongly suspect it's going to be superb. There are plenty of other petrol heads that I dislike and have no issues with them being a petrol head, just Evans right now. You just put me off reading/listening to any of those books....... Bernie, I hang my head in shame for YOU I know what you mean though, I found a different level of respect for Eric Bana after Love the Beast. I agree, the scripting was bad, but it was still entertaining... Have the BBC announced that there is a different format or just a change in presenters? I still think very little will change in script and format, only the presenters being swapped over. I will be giving it a try, will time how long it takes before I want to throw things at my TV because of Evans.
  7. And you really think that he can be appreciated by the guys driving the 106 GTis or the old BMWs, I dont. So you are good at cleaning it, but not driving it........hmmmmmmmmm I really don't think you could be more wrong. Would a collector let random strangers drive his incredibly rare and expensive Ferraris around the country for charity? Would a collector make sure that they all got used as often as possible? Would a collector give up 3/4 of his collection just to get a single car, that could be written off during said charity drive and leave him with nothing? No, but a petrolhead would. Seriously, go read his books, and then come back and tell me he's not fanatical about cars. Speaking about his Ferraris: Sound like just a collector to you? Yes, he sounds like just a collector - he read the life story of Ferrari........ he reads the brochure Why the hell would I read his books, I cannot describe how annoying I find him!!!!! I dont know any of the TV shows that you speak of (highlighted), maybe thats why we differ in opinion on this. So basically, the 3 people that hated the last few series of TG, refused to watch or watched it and then moaned about how crap it was or how much time they wasted are now happy with Evans as a presenter (explains a lot). Soon it will be the other way around and I will be complaining about wasting a hour watching
  8. Why would fast driving define a petrolhead? I don't like track driving, I am not a fast driver out on the roads, but I spend untolds amount of my life looking after my cars, making them look immaculate, then enjoy driving them - am I therefore not a petrolhead? All my friends say unequivocally that I am? If you lookup the definition of petrolhead there is actually one that simply says 'a car fanatic' it doesn't say anything about driving fast. Even looking up the word fanatic as a definition it means someone who has an 'obsession with zeal' which from what I can see Chris Evans has. I think people are mixing the word petrolhead with some other definition of what they want in the next top gear presenter...just my opinion of course. It's not how you stand by your car, it's how you race your car. sorry, I had to.... And there it is, perspective! I have no doubt in my mind that he is NOT a car enthusiast or a petrol head. He is purely a collector with money, what do you think he would drive if he had no money, like most of us? The car would then become a tool for him, point A to point B. And BTW, my guess would be a diesel BMW.
  9. Of course it needs to be different, but it still needs to be car based entertainment and I just dont see Evans being able to deliver that. Jodie Kidd is part of the same grouping in my head. I completely agree, both lots go to Goodwood.... its just which group we associate Evans with Hope so Thats the sort of thing I would expect him to say, so hope its right.
  10. When I have seen him interviewed by top gear guys and on other occasions (like when he was at Goodwood the other year and I was stood a yard away as he spoke with a few guests) he displays in general good intimate knowledge of cars, events, history - he doesnt strike me as a rich guy sticking cars into a lock up never to be seen again but someone who has that passion and knows his stuff. Disagree..... Goodwood is good, but its also posers heaven!! He strikes me as exactly that..... a car collector, not an enthusiast.
  11. And then they will lose half the viewers.... its entertainment with cars, not a car show. Or run it into the ground You may be right there You do know who Chris Evans is, right? The guy who made his name in irreverant light entertainment, and then brought new life to the Radio 2 Breakfast Show which is now more successful than it's ever been? He's done everything from DFYT and TGI for the young 'uns, right up to proving himself a worthy successor to Terry Wogan and keeping the older generation happy. If he cannot do it, then it cannot be done. Also, he knobbed Rose from Dr Who, which automatically makes him a bit of a legend. By the way, he loves cars too Since when does he love cars? He loves golf (and what was the back story to the rallycross episode - what else could you do for the price of a set of golf bats) and Ferraris...... he is a collector, not a petrolhead. Cars are bought and stored for viewing only. I really dont like him either, but will wait and see what its like.
  12. Cant help with that location, I know a Network Architect in Manchester and I am based in London. As part of your redundancy package is there any education options? Pretty sure a previous placed offered additional training courses to those being made redundant
  13. That will depend entirely on the exhaust system on the GTR, mine has ranged from 106db (at Silverstone), I then changed the ypipe and its now at 90db. I know of others that have passed 110db
  14. You could look at doing a couple of short(er) contracts to try and get your skills up to scratch. Ever job spec I have ever been sent has asked for MS Certification, I dont have it and its never been a problem. However, I do have 15+ years of experience Exams and qualifications will give you some confidence as well. Where are you based?
  15. WRC and RallyCross are good choices, but all take life a little too seriously! Therefore, drift
  16. yes.... should be more than enough to overwhelm the leaf springs
  17. Suffered with it for as long as I can remember... in South Africa I got 1-2 lovely injections a year and it worked a treat!!!! Would have to take tablets 3-4 times per month. Here the doctors love their prescription fee too much so I am not allowed the injection. What works for me is, is simple decongestant tablets, combined with eye drops and the odd anti-histamine 1-3 times a week. 18. I used to shoot recurve, but got tired of being constantly cold when shooting in the British weather so gave it up... shame really as when I went back 2 years later - shot the best round I ever had and the score was county level.
  19. I have been in a few 370z and I wasnt that impressed by the interior. They focused on the stuff that would make a great car... Good point, never thought about that. It depends on the gearbox setting, but I find it tries to go through the gears too quickly and refuses to go down a gear quickly enough. However, for the motorways and fuel eco runs its rather good.
