I said, JC was suspended pending an investigation, not even "he" was sacked straight away and if your being politically correct, he was never sacked, they just let his contract lapse, but the beeb are fully behind CE. I wasnt aware that if you committed a crime x amount of years ago it diminishes its relevance

CE was always a bold choice, he is no different to JC, people either love him or hate him, i guess the beeb banked on his popularity to get or keep the numbers. I find it curious how the beeb immediately suspended JC pending an investigation but are "fully behind" CE. Of course i understand JC had history and was on a final warning but it dangerous ground to support CE, they could end up with egg on their face, again....

Staggering, it really is. Every time i flick onto one of these police chase things, 90% of the time the driver they catch is driving without insurance, tax and a valid licence and what do they get, a fine which they probably cant pay anyway and a further ban on their ban.

I am no CE fan, but it wholly wrong that such investigations are revealed before evidence is confirmed to justify an arrest, let alone the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Who knows it might be another Cliff Richard debacle, but the media justs loves to presume guilty until proved innocent - how would we like that to happen to any of us knowing we were totally innocent that could (and does) ruin lives? No different to Jeremy Clarkson what so ever and everyone was keen to jump to on that bandwagon, JC has never been charged does that make him innocent too?

Sadly as mentioned elsewhere, i dont think he/they had the luxury of producing the first episode which wasnt going to blow peoples socks off, if ce and mlb in a relaint robins were your bag, the old tg was infinitely better. Whilst i may not be in a position to comment having only watched the first episode, the success of clarkson, hammond and may wasnt down to individuals, it was the three combined, so CE to JC comparisons are fruitless, it was about much more than one man, it would seem like the Beeb thought CE would be enough, but ironically its the others people have warmed to.

As Stevo points out, anything up the quarter mile in under 14 secs and 0-60 in under 6 is or never was considered slow, its just the game has moved on these days, launch control, fancy diffs and hot hatches/diesel rep mobiles all pushing towards or above 300 hp moves the goal posts, you just got to remember though our tech/design is 15 years old, so we are not doing too bad.
