  1. Similar price and performance credentials to a Cayman, A110, 4c so i would suggest thats where its aimed at. As per current turbo BM's it will be massively tuneable and as above, i doubt it will be long before the likes of Failside and Rocket Bunny are all over it, a jdm tuners dream to agree with Ekona, i think it pays a lot more homage to the mk1v than ft1, which as mentioned is shame imho and a lot more like a bigger brother to the gt86 than again a very sleek sports coupe. Although i am not sure i put the cult following and high prices down to f&f, there were a lot of good cars in those films that havent got the "status", rx7 and dare i say even 350z as main feature cars. Seen no mention of the weight, would be interested to see what it weighs in at.
  2. Just had a read on the mk1v Supra forum, not a lot of love over there either, but there was a post that made an interesting point (for me anyway) and that was the mkv was in no way going to outshine their premium branded Lexus LC500 in looks or power, never thought of like that but to me that makes a lot of sense to me. There is already a mkv forum where all and sundry is discussed, pricing, servicing etc etc
  3. I meant the ft1 , so your saying they were scared of releasing the ft1 without the power to match?
  4. Of what, making a really good looking car
  5. Yes i guess it depends on your definition of groundbreaking, the Alpine certainly looks "different" to anything else on the meerkat though, not as discussed necessarily a good thing!
  6. I dont think there is anything groundbreaking about the ft1 in the looks department, its just a proportionally good looking sports coupe, they have carried over the basic shape (nose, rear, sides) but not kept the low sleek look, i certainly dont think they are stealing away any Z4 buyers. The well discussed Alpine is far more groundbreaking than this and as you say, selling loads (retrospectively)
  7. Its difficult to fathom how they took something so stunning and made it look just bland/ordinary which that photo highlights. Imho the Ft1 will be the downfall ironically, I wouldnt be far away on budget for my next car and would have pushed like mad to get one had it looked like the Ft1.
  8. Mmmm, the jury is still out for me imho, will definitely like to see one in the flesh!
  9. It is definitely very hot hatch now you mention it, but then i guess that is what the French are good at maybe it appeals to the ex Clio/Megane etc owners that have out grown/got older/increased earnings and want something a bit more sophisticated but still a decent drive. Its not a looker like the 4C, but i like it, i wouldnt buy one but nice to see something a bit different imho
  10. ^^^ That could just be down to exhaust setup, i believe both have sports options
  11. A Z car is a completely different market and demographic, it wont go toe to toe with muscle cars and wouldnt even try, I am sure they would love to steal a few customers away, but that will be about as high as their aspirations get, Nissan is after ze Germans, Porsche and BMW, most comparisons are 350z/370z to Cayman/Boxster/M cars, GTR to 911 Turbo S.
  12. As Ekona points out, the probable only reason there is a Supra is the joint development. Sounds simple enough with 800+ engineers, but there is so so much more to building a new car. Numerous sites that want a refresh of the 370z that was an absolute sales disaster, not sure i would paying too much focus on what rose tinted spec wearing 370z owners want, like the dude on the infinti thread who would pay £50k for a nismo bodykitted roadster in a "heartbeat", or the others who would buy the sema 370z with 3.0ltr turbo.....yeah right! Anywho, lets all come back and chat the specifics when some actual physical model release is announced
  13. There has always been much chat about single flywheel noise, cant say i really noticed much difference to be honest and the benefits outweighed any very minor noise increase
  14. Why? Whats the point, if its driven with any enthusiasm to make use of the aero the range wont be anywhere near 250 miles, you wouldnt even make a track day and home again. Keep the dull sh*t looking dull and appealing to people who just arent into cars!
  15. I would purely guess that something in similar numbers to the 350z. The 2nd gen qashqai has not long been out (in relative terms) and selling well as you say, the Juke has been around for years and desperately needs a refresh but still sold 90k cars in 2017 in the Eu, i am no expert, but business head on, what do you really think Nissan will be prioritising, a small market segment 2 seater sports/gt car or a unit that still currently sells 90k a year in the EU. I hate to agree with Ekona so much but a sketch "might" be it, they really wont start designing and producing a car until they know the drivetrain, a concept maybe, but a concept is nowhere near the start of a new model or anything you have been suggesting you are "sure" of. Sorry, i would love you to be right, but just nothing stacks up in regards to a replacement in the near future.
  16. If they havent decided on the drivetrain there is zero chance they have started on anything, there is nothing in the press with any credibility that suggests a new one is imminent, its all circumspect and hearsay to fill pages. They just wont bother if 1-2000 units a year, Alpine is a completely different kettle of fish, it is a reestablishing brand hoping to break into the market place with alleged future models to follow (see SUV as a clue to where they think the market is), the A110 may well be a loss financially, but if reestablishes the brand, mission achieved, much the same as the 4C, a start at reinventing themselves and making some interesting cars again. The Z cars started life with the 240z as an line six, the heritage is a two seater sports/gt car, nothing to do with engine configuration or nomination. We all love a sports/gt car hence why we are here, but Ekona is on the money, the sports/gt market is tiny. As ever, i hope i am wrong, but i keep asking myself why would Nissan want to release another Z car, GTR/Juke is where its at for them!
  17. Its got to get started first

  19. And take a look at the American market for a relative guide on whats good, the 350z sold 36728 into the US in its best year, compared to a best year of just 10215 for the 370z. The 350z was definitely a good seller. Ekona is on the money, we are a fraction of sales, its whatever is going to appeal to the yanks if you want to see which way the 370z will go.
  20. The flywheel wont really make much difference to the feel of the pedal, thats all down to the clutch and being you are running decent hp, you will need a clutch to cope with that and those type clutches can be a bit on/off. I bought an Xtreme clutch from Clark Motorsport and it was the closest you will get to oem pedal feel that will handle the power.
  21. I think the whole recession reason is just a thinly veiled excuse to account for the poor sales, the m3 went from 3.2 straight six to 4.0 v8 and sold bucket loads at 50k at a very similar time, I think you are probably a lot closer with it just having some very big shoes to fill and it just wasnt a significant step up in the game to draw current z car owners to "upgrade", it also wouldnt be the first time Nissan sat on their laurels either, 240/260z to the 280z. Everyone else had moved the goalposts, the 370z was pretty much out of date the moment it came out, imho of course. Being an avid enthusiast of the two and recognising your recent purchases of 4 pot turbos and being an advocate of, do you think a new z car will hash out something of close to its old platform, high capacity v6 maybe with turbo just because they have that engine lying around or do you think they will go a more modern direction? Personally I hope its new, modern tech and not some parts bin special to keep the z car alive.
  22. I just used bullet connectors when i did mine.
  23. Are you a betting man?
