  1. As usual with internet based stuff, I have seen pages suggesting its more, but lets say is the same, thats per passenger and if you took a return flight to New York, thats around a years average motoring in one sitting into the upper atmosphere + your std years motoring. The car industry is being forced to meet emissions targets, but airline industries are unregulated, if co2 is an issue as suggested in the world, surely this is an area that needs focus, rather than just ever increasing motoring taxes?
  2. http://www.wanderlust.co.uk/magazine/articles/destinations/to-fly-or-not-to-fly?page=all
  3. Of course, but if the cost of motoring came down (which it wouldnt) because of it, I think its a good thing. Motorists are just too easy a target.
  4. I am going to come up regardless, I spoke to the organisers today and if there are spaces on the day and they can get me through the noise test I can pay there and then, if not can have a watch.
  5. Agree 100%. They have found a nice niche "emissions", great way to tax us more and let us believe its for the good of the environment. Either way, its total wrong that aviation fuel is zero rated and duty free. especially if its now an "emission" based tax.
  6. I would prefer to pay more for maybe one or two flights a year and less for my car, although i doubt it would ever be like that. Surely though if its emissions based, you have to tax the worst offenders and air travel is most certainly it?
  7. Aftermarket alloys, spacers, wrap, talk of using Federals.....who would have thought it
  8. Absolutely as above, would without doubt be the fairest system. Tax collect at source (system is already in place), i would imagine the savings to the dvla would be vast, would be near impossible to avoid if your on the road, unless you have nicked your petrol. All foreign vehicles using our roads would also be contributing. The only problem that needs solving, vehicles that are now tax exempt. And how aviation fuel remains tax free is beyond me.
  9. I followed an old lady home from work today and it was positively scary. She was literally driving in the middle of the road, barely reached 20, if a car was coming the other way she veered violently towards the pavement and at any turns or roundabouts she came to a near stop and kept shuffling the wheel to be able to get round. Compulsory retest at retirement age and every 5 afterwards.
  10. I would go 275, but thats up to you
  11. Below is 245 on a 9", god knows how you managed to avoid stretch with a 235
  12. Oh dear, poor old gangzooms tesla will be taxed
  13. Varying results really, some built full on time attack, some built drag cars, some just built road/track cars. One guy was building a 20b (triple rotor) rx7 and had the engine rebuild 3 or 4 times as he keep blowing it up with a bad fuel set up, your probably looking at minimum 7.5k each build, he ended up with 550hp from memory as he got to scared to run anything but pussy boost. Another guy did a Veislide, 20k just for a paint job and some fiberglass panels. A mate has a body shop/garage, he was building a Supra for a guy, the "first" delivery of parts came in a 7.5 tonne lorry just for his car and was circa £50k, bride seats x 4 as he wanted the back seats to match, wheels, turbo, exhaust, hks fcon, abflug bodykit, bbk, the list goes on. Its been there 4 years, haha, every time he gets some more money, he turns up with more parts and pay off some of the work done I have done with my modifying to that extend, i enjoyed the journey but when i got my first 350 it always surprised me how much i enjoyed the very basics of motoring, having a car in my garage that i could get in and just drive
  14. It will be a hell of a car and what else can you buy for that money with 650hp, its just residual value that puts me off things like this these days. There were guys putting 40 to 50k plus into rx7's when i had mine, obscene money, prefer to keep my powder dry now and keep the pot stacked up until other things hove into my price range.
  15. Because it makes no difference to condition of engine or chassis good luck in your search.
  16. I know some people enjoy the build but after enjoying a big build on at least 2 of my previous rx7's I would say, never again. I recently fancied a fi 350 so bought one done, there is/was a few decent builds for sale at £12k, its a no brainer if thats the route you want imho.
  17. 235 on a 9" is absolute minimum and will give you stretch, much better with a 245/40 1% out or 7mm and on that basis would get a 275/45 for the rear which is .15% out or 1mm http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/tyre-size-for-rim-width_topic60146.html
  18. Barely even run in at that kind of mileage what is the concern re anything with probably average miles for a 10+ year old car, 80k or above?
  19. Woah, failure rates already at 50%, no wonder standards on the road are shocking. I agree with Ekona, much more emphasis needs to be put on driving awareness than being able to, reverse round a corner, parallel park, three point turn etc and definitely a motorway section or option of if you want to drive on them.
  20. The numbers could be very relevant, what are they?
  21. Will take this too with interior plastics please.
  22. £50 for gear stick surround and centre consul?
  23. Dont get too hung up on low mileage, buy the best condition car for your budget
