  1. So coming to the end of the year hope you guys have enjoyed the season of whatever you have watched, from a personal prospective MotoGp has been awesome, 7th title for Marquez at just 25 years old , most impressively not on the best bike which i guess could be the same for Hamilton, think this was Ferrari's year imho, never unhappy seeing Vettel loose though. Also massively impressive seeing Loeb win again in Spain this weekend.
  2. ^^^^ Plus one, had crossers in my later teens and early 20's but got so board of going round tracks or the odd foray onto somewhere where you shouldnt i just didnt get the use, tried green laning but too many gates, would be great to have that sort of freedom, would have one in a heartbeat if we did.
  3. Coilovers and arb's, guarantee you car will be "perform" better than anything a remap will give you
  4. I understand keeping it "camo" whilst in the design and pre production phases, but literally no idea at all why its still wearing camo as a finished car soon to be released. I am staggered that anyone would buy a car not knowing what it truly looks like, makes you wonder why, maybe they have something up their sleeve. I think its lines look pretty good and follows the old Supra lines reasonable well, still, once youve seen the FT1 concept, its never going to be as good looking at that.
  5. To be fair, i see your point, but perhaps from my view, maybe its an age thing (when cars were truly unreliable) and wont disagree those manufacturers arent without their niggles and flaws, but unreliable, not in my opinion and i could say that about my Rx7's, they never really let me down in regular fashion, but can understand where the stigma comes from.
  6. And would you not buy a Ferrari 458 because its "unreliable"
  7. Name me an unreliable sports car in this day and age? or at least the last 2 decades? I owned probably the most thought of unreliable car there was, an Rx7 (x 5) and they was utterly brilliant and not one of the "negatives" put me off, mpg, reliability etc etc and nearly got a Rx8 instead of the 350z which again was probably topping the list of least reliable sports cars of our time and funny Illokigal mentions Alfa, its hopefully going to be my next car, pretty much universally disliked. I watch a few reviews from journalists i rate, but mainly just to hear their thoughts, sure if they said it was an absolute dog of a car it would make me think twice, but dont think there is such a thing in this day and age, cant remember many favourable reviews of the 370z Nismo, but most owners on here seem chuffed to bits. But has been said many times with regards to TG, if you want reviews you mention the formats, TG & GT are not that, havent been that for a long time and 5th gear etc would kill for TG or GT ratings, old or new, i think you have mistaken the word downfall for success
  8. I genuinely cant believe anyone watches either for reviews or more so, is interested in said reviews with the intent to purchase and i think you perhaps need to check the viewing figures for the last Clarkson TG series, hardly a downfall. You may well be right that people enjoy watching reviews on any of the formats you mention, but TG and GT are worlds apart and have been for many years and if you really take any interest in what some total and utter tool like shmee thinks of a car, you need your head looked at, that said, i wouldnt buy a car based on any review, if i like the drive i really couldnt care less. I like watching CH reviews, but just because he says a Porsche is great, doesnt mean i am going to go out and buy one.
  9. Patience, just try to make sure everything is tucked away and any bulky plugs are out of the way of the back of the unit, leave the shortest tails you can to plug the unit in and slide back and if its tight, reach under the unit and move the wires out the way.
  10. ^^^ I think thats a massive sweeping statement and far from the truth, there was plenty of love for old TG from the car folk on here and other car forums i am on, i wont disagree its entertainment and probably drew in "regular" folk, but cars were at its core and the reason for me watching, i cant say i have watched anything else with Clarkson, May or Hammond.
  11. I can only speak for myself, i thoroughly enjoyed most TG's with Clarkson and crew, there were of course some poor ones, but did i really want to spend £75 on another viewing platform (already have sky) to just watch the GT, not really, so from a personal prospective, its the wrong viewing platform. In a similar twist, would anyone have paid to watch CE or MLB, i doubt it.
  12. I dont think anyone watched TG for reviews, well certainly not in the last decade and whilst Ekona and Codel, not mentioning any names claimed thats what they wanted at the demise of Clarkson etc it was never going to happen for the very reason you mention and Fifth Gear was always the review based motoring programme. I think they soon realised the format presented by Clarkson (some blokes tw*tting around in exotica etc) was why people watched, hence the quick demise of CE. Shame as i thought MLB and CH were starting to get into their stride as a watchable replacement. I always thought it would be a poisoned chalice and really cant work out how they got to these two, but who knows, might be good, cant but help think its dead in the water though.
  13. Unpopular as it is, i think they should put more duty on fuel, scrap ved and have government 3rd party insurance I will get my coat
  14. Absolutely, i am not saying you are wrong, however, i am not the one saying ev's are the future of motoring so if you, gz or the government want "us" to believe, give us some factual evidence or comparisons. We are the ones that need convincing to change, not the hook line and sinkers like gz, as with anything on this forum, if someone makes a claim it needs backing up, if i told you my 350z had 340hp from an uprev, you wouldnt believe me with good reason, if i provided you with a dyno graph that said showed it has, well...... As said elsewhere, there is so so much more to it than emissions, its not sustainable for the plethora of reasons people have stated, problem is, you want to believe it, so you do, a lot like your religious beliefs, this was the whole failing of the ev thread. not one "doubt" was answered, just brushed aside with some useless info, a nonsensical graph that answered nothing or video showing a tesla out dragging some car or some other distraction about what the amazing Elon has in the pipeline next. Another question then, how do you "think" the government intend to fill the 28 billion void from fuel duty? Will you be happy paying duty on your electric?
  15. Just as an addition with the mention of renewable energy, its far from being the future (at present) the tech isnt even close. I have just built a house and every new home as to have some form of renewable energy, most people opt for pv panels, if i have a 2.5kw panel on my roof that would save me circa £360 over a year, sounds good, however the cost of the panels is £8k, so 22 years to pay it off and i cant help but think in 22 years they will be obsolete and broke. I am not against any of this stuff, ev's included, but to keep stating "its the future" is just so blinkered its borderline insane.
  16. One small snippet of a lifetime of a car from production to death, so it costs less to service, it goes absolutely nowhere near the bigger picture which is what i am asking, all that does show is why you are justifying it in your head, show me some real world data, start to finish, put the discussion to bed, its pretty easy, i am happy to be proved wrong, but please dont just give me fragmented pieces of info that you "think" makes something the truth, show me the data to support your side of the fence, i am happy to jump over and sing the praises if you can.
  17. Sorry Davey, thats typical gangzoom, you just believe it is the case but absolutely nothing factual to back it up and the bit about power stations being away from populated areas is just nonsense, pollution is pollution, no matter where its created. I obviously believe differently about the environmental impact of an ev, but have never said its fact and am more than happy to be proved wrong, but am not going to believe you just because you say its "obvious", give me some data. I seem to recall modern cars are heavily made from recycled materials and recycling of dead cars is also high, can the same be said for ev's, what about when batteries die, we all know the problems with battery disposal, good for the environment, definitely not! The reason manufacturers are producing them is, they have to to meet "emissions" targets, supply/demand and profit, at what point do any of those include being environmentally friendly, i refer you to diesel and with the latest emissions scandals, its pretty clear the manufacturers dont give a flying f about the environment.
  18. I guess it depends on your definition of "a genuine nismo", what it sounds like you have is a 350z with Nissan supplied and fitted Nismo bodykit.
  19. So show me conclusive proof that ev's from production to end are more environmental friendly. I agree with G1en, you cannot argue the average temps are up, however, the planet has been like that (up and down) long before we smoking around in cars and industry was about and dont think again there is any conclusive evidence its solely the fault of "us". Saying that, I cant remember what programme i saw it on but they were talking about the co2 levels that the volcano in iceland put up, it was horrific, however, it actually worked out less than the planes that were grounded during that time, if you want to look at cutting vehicle emissions its got to universal as Daisy says, no good us spinning around on the ground when the highest polluters are still in the air. I just cant help but think motorists are the easy target as ever, green taxes and emissions taxes will get higher and then what when we are all in ev's. whats going to fill the void left from no petrol and diesel sales, oh of course, there will be duty on electric, its the only possible outcome.
  20. I just cant get on board with all this ev thing for just about every reason listed above and i can in no way see its "green", apart from the emissions bit, we are still raping the planet for materials, still polluting with the electricity needed to charge the batteries, i have yet to see any conclusive evidence that over a lifetime of the vehicle with everything considered its actually better for the environment, i cant help but think with the way tech moves, in 25 years time ev will be extinct and something much more viable will be available.
  21. Audi's are the car of choice round my way, much prefer to see a decent BM than Audi.
  22. Ive never known anyone to change their mind as much, well not a male anyway
  23. I am not sure any classic supercar is going to be "reliable", not even 911's, i think i have may have got a bit lost on this thread, is £65-£70k to buy 2 cars or one do it all?
  24. Plenty of E Types within budget and on the road not requiring restoration. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/jaguar/e-type
