  1. I've seen one '50 and absolutely no '70s and I'm now in an area where a fair number of members are based. That said, all but 0.5 miles of my commute is through tunnels these days so that might explain it....
  2. To be fair, they say a lot of stuff they don't actually mean. Like "we can't condone Jeremy Clarkson's actions", when what they really meant was "we will condone his actions until his contract runs out, because: easier". Can't trust a word that Corporation says, y'know. Don't even get me started on their weathermen, they've never once managed to tell the truth...
  3. He's very good value for what he does too, is Ricey. Give the Mrs any other detailer's price first then show her how much you're saving by going to him instead.
  4. Fair chance is not guaranteed though...
  5. When reading these comments about Chris Evans being a "car enthuast", is it just me who mentally changed the word "car" to "Ferrari" every time? I really don't give a toss if he's a car enthuast, rich collector, Ferrari fanboy or just a label whore any more than his previous record in the genre of light entertainment, frankly. Largely because none of that is actually going to determine how good or bad the new Top Gear is going be. I'll wait to see what it's actually like rather than bicker over speculation. ... and then I'll bitch and moan with the rest of you.
  6. Firstly, yes you need to wax over Black Hole, it's not at all durable on it's own. That said, you simply won't get a glass like finish by hand or with a glaze and wax combination. You can improve the finish by hand, by you won't get the look that you're after. This leaves you with a couple of choices; Compromise - get the best finish you can by hand, use the glaze to hide the rest and wax. This will give you a deeper, wetter look rather than the glassy look you're after though. Spend more - buy a machine polisher, spend out on a coating. Much more expensive, but you'll only be doing it once a year and you'll get that glassy look you're after. Pay someone else to do the groundwork - take it to a detailer, they will correct it for you and then you can choose between a wax or a coating depending on what you're willing to spend. If you get the detailer to apply the coating too, you'll get the glassy finish you're after and if they use adecent coating it won't need doing again or 2 years or more. Alternatively you can then apply a wax to keep the costs down a bit. However, despite it likely being a one off cost, good detailers aren't cheap (except Ricey, he's a bargain!).
  7. Depends entirely on what you consider "on a budget" really. Cheapest option is to distract yourself with something else and leave it as it is. Best option is expensive. Also depends on what you already have, how much correction is needed, how much time you want to spend on it, whether you want to fix the swirls or just mask them, whether you want to do this once a year or once a month, whether you'll be working by hand or by machine, and about a dozen other things based on your answers to those... In a slightly more helpful answer, you'll be wanting to wash, clay, decontaminate, deep clean, correct, refine, and then an SiO2 coating for ultimate shine.
  8. And with that any payout will be a price based on a bog standard, non-GT 350Z. At best. At worst, they'll deny the whole conversation, void the policy (undeclared "modifications") and land you in a world of ****. Either way, sack them off and change insurers to someone willing to cover you for what your car actually is.
  9. The closest equivalent they have is the Menz intro kit. It's not specifically compiled nor tried and tested on soft paint like the PB kit is though, but it's not a million miles away. Is there any particular reason you're looking past the PB kit?
  10. It's UV damage that causes it. Not cleaning a red car would probably help it not to fade (certainly help not to notice it if it did)
  11. Think how much better it would have looked if it weren't so faded though...
  12. I simply don't have the attention span for... oh look, squirrels!
  13. The MAF sensor? You'll be wanting to keep that installed!
  14. You'd be best off skipping Monaco then. F1 for me. Regardless of how entertaining it may or may not be to watch these days, it'll be no less exciting to drive the cars today than it was 10/20/30 years ago; it's still the pinnacle of (4 wheeled) motorsport. And I don't do bikes so less wheels doesn't appeal at all.
  15. Jealous. What, all two of them? One of those is the Veneno which isn't exactly mass produced either. If you like them that's great but the OP asked for opinions and my opinion is they look dreadful on the 350Z, because they were a 90's trend to bolt them onto anything and everything, not because I'm jealous or because I haven't read the fitting instructions.
  16. And now it'll annoy you every time you see it. Like it does me!
  17. Looking at the pictures from this thread, yours is a pre-face lift (the centre console is different pre & post, as are the front bumper and headlights) so it won't be a Rev-Up (the UpRev is a remap, the only way you can tell if it's been remapped is to read the ECU assuming you have no receipts for that being done).
  18. Just as I was thinking about it... On it like a bonnet, emailed them, we'll see what happens come Monday I guess ...Graham saves me the effort. They do state this in their FAQ; I'm in a car club and I want me and all my buddies to get a good deal from you. Ok, we have options here. Slim's Rewards allows members to sign up & share points (discounts) between each other. You've also got kick backs for recommending new members & a whole list of options so that you and your club can always maintain a discounted rate. Speaking of which, if you really want to thank me for the original links, I'd be ever so appreciative if you could sign up to Slim's via this link when you go ahead (don't worry it's just my "referral link", nothing dodgy I promise!) or alternatively you could use my referral code (which is obscenely long) as follows; ajhtbDBDL0l6Nnd3dTREWlkzd0hyblN4aE9SaStLUXE3WDNobnRkeHFCYz0= Although if the group buy goes ahead, perhaps Graham might like you use his referral instead (you'll need to sign up first Graham, so feel free to use mine to do that ) and he can benefit from the effort he will be putting into that.
  19. Look what you've done now Stu, you ask one innocent question and it costs everyone money... Might be worth asking Slim's about a group buy.
  20. You've basically got two options for a "detailing" stool; this kind or the creeper kind. The former is more adjustable between certain heights, the later is less adjustable but over a greater range of height. Roughish concrete might be an issue for either/both though. You're probably better off looking for mechanic/DIY oriented varieties rather than the detailing centric market, but I'll admit that I've not investigated that at all so there might not be much more on offer.
  21. Single stage paint, yes. Any car that's lacquered won't noticeably fade (until you remove a badge or sticker a decade later at least). As far as I know, no manufacturer has used single stage paint for about two decades.
  22. My pleasure. The paint hardness chart was from Polished Bliss originally btw (not that I'm that much of a geek to recognise it, you understand...), they're usually right as a rule but even they're not (quite) totally infallible
