  1. I have one on my car, I can't say why as it was fitted by a previous owner. I will take a look at the earthing points myself.
  2. The end thats attached to the car (bush end) tends to be the one thats stuck. I tried everything on mine and in the end took it to Horsham. After telling me they "had to get medieval on it" they welded a bar to the bush and hammered it off. You might get lucky and it will just pop off however if you take it to a garage it should only be a couple of hours of labour. Either way it should cost a lot, lot less than £800. Don't forget to do both sides, if one side has gone the other isn't far behind. Zmanalex almost certainly has given you the parts for both sides.
  3. That is hideous but saveable. The spoiler, skirts and front lip are ok. The stupid and almost certainly fake bonnet scoop and bonnet catches along with the crappy graphics and stickers on the headrests are hideous. For me the worst crime is the pointlessly and badly painted flappy paddles. Under the bonnet, well at least its clean and although totally tasteless the plastics appear to have been well painted. Just paint over it and it will be ok. I don't think anyone in their right mind would buy it in this condition, maybe someone will get a bargain! edit: Oh God the GTR badge on the front grill! Who are you trying to kid?
  4. Good stuff! Beware getting the arms off can be a nightmare, I gave up and took mine to Horsham Developments in the end. Probably a good idea to get a wheel alignment after. Mack
  5. Some good info here, thanks to all. Lucky I keep records of everything. Hopefully it won't be too brutal come renewal.
  6. Thank you all for the info, its given my some idea where I stand. Thanks Tim for the PM. Just to clarify the first one when someone backed into my car the other side accepted liability and paid out. The second one was my dumb mistake, after building 9 years NCD I was kicking myself. I understand there is a slight loading even when the other side accepts liability. I guess I will find out the full answer at renewal time. Thanks again for all the info. Mack
  7. Unfortunately this year has not been a good one. Firstly someone backed into my car in a car park and I claimed on their insurance. Secondly I made a stupid mistake which resulted in a claim on my insurance. I have 9 years protected NCB discount. The cost of the claim on my insurance was £970. I have heard to expect around a 40% loading at renewal time. Can anyone shed some light on the expected uploading? Mack
  8. The compression rod is basically a metal rod, on one end there is a rubber bush and the other there is a ball joint. Its common for the bushes to fail and they can be replaced for around £80 + labour. The ball joint can also fail however in this case the whole arm must be changed. The best course of action is to get it into a garage that really know these cars, I am no where near Whales so I can't offer any recommendations however I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction. Any needed parts can be sourced at reasonable prices from traders on this forum.
  9. Well, Its worth a lot less now. Im gutted for the owner.
  10. I see you mounted your number plate straight on the bumper. If you don't mind me asking what did you use to attach it? Has it stayed on ok? Mack
  11. Thanks for the reply gareth29, Just for info I removed the ABS sensor as there was some oxidation from the hub in the hub carrier and I wasn't happy scraping it off with the sensor in pace. The bolt had some corrosion on but came off easily and the sensor came off. Ive fitted the new hub with no problems, ABS working fine with no lights. If you do this don't forget to put the little plastic cover that protects the ABS sensor in first before you put the brake dust shield and hub on. I had to take it all off again because I forgot! Lucky on the front at least no pullers or messing with bearings are required, the hub, stub axle and bearing are all one unit held on by 4 bolts.
  12. I do my own servicing as well and changing the odd part, I always keep receipts and take a few photos of whats been done.
  13. Just fitted my replacement front wheel hub. Very good service!
  14. Just ordered a replacement hub for the front left wheel as the bearing is on the way out. I had a mechanic friend of mine check it out and he warned to be careful with the ABS sensor when doing it. Not specifically do the with 350z but he warned you can get problems with the gap. Is it better to leave it in place and loosen the hub and be cautions hammering out the hub via the bolts or remove the sensor and place it to one side? Thanks Mack
  15. I have to agree with Alex. Do the basics and start doing tracks days. Keep some money aside initially as if there's is a problem in the car you will find it on the track. Once your happy keep going and see how fast you can be.

    Quick question

Which brand are your tyres? Check out their website and they might have the manufactures specs. This one for Yokohama tyres for example http://www.yokohamat...im_wheel_width/

    350z Rays [CLOSED]

Looking for a set of 350z Rays as track / drift wheels. Doesn't have to be in immaculate condition but must be straight, tyres are not important. I will pay up to £300 + postage. Im based in Bishops Stortford. Mack
  19. I had my compression rod bushes fail and had Super Pro bushes fitted by Horsham Developments. 2 years later they are still tight.
  20. ZZZebady Looks good mate! Is that the direct to rust hammerite?
  21. Thanks Ewen, Any product in particular? POR15 appears to be a range of products.
  22. Thanks GMballistic, I'm looking into it. Ive noticed the brace has a few drilled holes into the top. Thinking of plugging these.
  23. The W brace on my car is horrendous so I ordered an after market replacement from Ultra Racing. Looks well made but the paint has already chipped off in transit. Is there a good paint to use to protect it? I also have replacements for the member stays all the way from New Jersey. They have very, very minor surface rust and almost look new. Again I would like to protect these against the salted roads. Thanks Mack
