  1. without a remap, performance gains are negligible, so try and declare it as a cosmetic mod. if they aren't able to do that, id either replace the exhaust with a standard one, or find another insurer! admiral work just fine for me, i'm 27 with 3 yrs NCB, with exhaust and wheels declared its £580. EDIT - even if you did the whole shebang of air filter, plenum spacer, HFCs, exhaust and an uprev you'd be lucky to get a 10% performance increase!
  2. admiral aren't bad for mods either, worth a ring if only for a comparison.
  3. well I spent the day making it lighter, Ken spent the day making it Shinier! But should be a lot lighter now, and still more to come once front seats, door cards and airbags come out after mot.
  4. Ah ha those were the days... went to an all boys school and some of the female teachers were gorgeous, very hard to Concentrate!
  5. Short answer, don't call them anything until they reply to you, then use whatever they address themselves as. Had one girl from Bulgaria on email once, she signed off as Alexandre for a while, but I knew she was really an Alex, but had to keep calling her Alexandre until she switched her reply to Alex. On a mildly related note, I always sign off as Andrew, but then gets shortened to Andy, even tho I hate Andy!
  6. Not Jaws! best bond henchman ever! probably in other stuff as well. RIP.
  7. if you can separate wheels from tyres we might have the tyres off you since we need a decent set of tyres for the track beemer. unfortunately don't have any need for the wheels though!
  8. its possible! though not with mine, mine has a rust patch
  9. 15th November with Javelin
  10. oh man wanna know what this is like on track! come along to snetterton in mid november so we can compare the beemer to the (now considerably faster) mr2! You'll fly round snetterton, great track.
  11. nowt wrong with a B16 VTEC engine! had one in an old civic VTI, vtec'd with a kick at 5600rpm, redlined at 8k. from what I read the more modern engines have a smoother transition between being off and on cam, but the early engines were very schizophrenic!
  12. haven't had a VTEC yet? that'll be an S2000 then, Shirley?
  13. i'd leave it a few days for the springs to settle... after all, they have never supported the full 1.5 tonnes of car weight before, whereas the old ones will have been doing it for years.
  14. this is probably a silly question, but if the button only lowers the roof, how do you get it back up again???
  15. /\ is everyone reading the same jokes columns or something?!?
  16. you've lost me.
  17. I have to say, I like it a lot. most definitely a jag, and looks low and sleek and purposeful, which I don't get from bmws and merc c classes. however I wonder where they can go with the coupe as this already has a very sloping roofline, not sure what headroom will be like in the back. I really hope these sell well, will be great to take some of this enormous sector back into british built, indeed MIDLANDS built cars.
  18. Heathrow is not a million miles away from Jez at Horsham Developments, over near newbury. im sure he can do supply and fit for you.
  19. Rimtuck is never useless, theres always a need to look at many an awesome stanced zed! Just wish we had the roads for them over here!
  20. What he said... first thing i'd be looking at is alignment and tyre pressures. if you're running relatively soft sidewalled tyres you may find an extra 2-3psi helps as well.
  21. how little space are we talking about here? as long as a second car is taxed and insured it can be kept on a road - that's what we do with ours, its just parked outside my flat. are there any quiet streets around or are you under proper inner city pressure? I think if you want a car for track work you'd have just as much fun in a £1000 MX5 as you would in a £20,000 BRZ86 - get one with an LSD, and you can drive the nuts off it on road and on track, and parts are dirt cheap. heck parts are so cheap you can get a second set of wheels with winter tyres on and you'll be mobile in winter as well.
  22. MPSS do have very good durability - last a very long time. However if wet weather performance is important id go for Goodyears.
  23. they arent - read most tests and difference between MPSS, GY Eagle F1s, Conti Sport contact 5s and even Hankook Ventus S1 Evo2 is negligable. While MPSSs often win the dry grip test, GY and Hankook frequently perform better in the wet. Personally i went for Hankooks, get excellent reviews but since they're not a 'premium' top 4 brand (Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Continental) they're a lot cheaper. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre-Tests/#summer
  24. have you considered a DC Sports true dual? im my opinion sounds a bit meatier than the invidia, and theres a trader on here at the moment (funkypower) who is doing an excellent price on them! EDIT: this one: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/89841-dc-sports-dual-exhaust-system-with-x-pipe/
  25. haha sounds perfect for me then!
