  1. Allegedly from the window of Jessops in Liverpool...
  2. Costs a fortune in rent and business rates in huge shops like HMV. Not really a shock though, albums sales including downloads have plummeted from the heydays of the 70's and early 80's, there used to be at least 4 independent record shops in Chester plus an HMV and Virgin in the early 80's, now they've all gone. The downfall began when they stopped making vinyl, half the fun was admiring the art on the album sleeve, CD's are just so impersonal. Pete As someone who has the costs of rent and rates coming off my bottom line, I do realise this, but my point was the fact they encourage customers to shop online with this policy. We match our online prices which gets customers into the stores as hopefully they prefer the experience of one to one service. Also, they will hopefully see something else they like, whether to purchase straight away or in the future. Their free delivery policy, albeit a correct policy, costs them a fortune. They should have matched their online price to dicourage their customers from buying from their online store. You're right about the failing/changing market, they should have reduced the number of stores they have and really pushed the download market more.
  3. Yep, no surprise really. A shame though, especially as HMV have so much history. They just haven't adapted their business model enough I guess; they should really have been looking to be the market leaders in music downloads. And I'll never understand why their prices were so much more in store than online and they why they wouldn't match it. I would just order online and get their free delivery, which I think a lot of people did. If they'd match the price in store they'd have saved a fortune in P&P costs.
  4. Get it bought! I'm quite happy with impulse buys, especially when it's something that holds its value relatively well (which I gather this is one of those cases?).
  5. I should probably not disclose this, but I dreamt about Top Gear last night (I didn't know it was coming back soon), and both Clarkson and Hammond had had really bad collagen lip enhancements done!
  6. It seems online companies aren't completely immune; Play.com will soon no longer sell products themselves and only trade as a marketplace. This is due to the tax relief they used to get before the government changed the rules last year.
  7. I'm with you BBK; it must be an age thing? I was an impressionable eleven years old when I saw it at the cinema
  8. We're doing great, thanks It's sad to see Jessops go though; we lost Jacobs camera stores last year too.
  9. Is amazing how the prices have fallen so quickly. I paid over eleven grand for mine less than two years ago and am looking to sell it now for some extra seats (the missus says having two two-seaters is just daft!). Going by everyone's comments it looks like I'm going to have to stay 'daft' for a while longer!
  10. Those speakers are TDL Studio 5 and Studio 10s respectively. Really great value speakers.
  11. I'm selling the Zed, so the bike rack will have to go too. I never actually got a chance to use it other than to trial the fitting as seen in the photos. If anyone want to make me an offer on it then let me know. It's still boxed as new.
  12. Well, it looks like it has sold by the "deposit taken" in the title?
  13. Well I certainly hope so. I'll be looking to sell mine before long as I need some thing with four seats, and I'm certainly not selling the 260z!
  14. Boo, no arrow keys on an iPad. 53.1 sec
  15. Today's forecast for the weekend looks good, so I'm gonna say... ...this.
  16. The women's shot put gold medal winner, or a fat Ewan McGregor?
  17. LED washer jets are a bit pointless...and a bit pants!
  18. American goalkeeper, Hope Solo.
  19. It looks like the juice and the coffee are more expensive than normal, but the rest seem the same as say Asda. Well, I guess if I'm getting a load of beans, I'm gonna need a load of bog roll!
  20. A belated thanks to Martin for organising a great weekend, and thanks to Liz and Ian too. Both Mandy and myself had a brilliant time and will almost certainly be joining in again next year. What an amazing venue too! The hospitality from the hotel was very much appreciated, with above and beyond service than what we would normally expect, and set in the perfect surroundings for a car meet. It was also great to get to personally meet so many of my 'internet chums', and to make some new friends from other forums too. There was plenty to do there too, and although I'd have enjoyed a bit of karting or a blast around the windy roads, we decided to do the 'couples' thing on Saturday and have a trip on the steam train and (steam?) boat, which was fantastic. We even had another couple to do the trip with who both seemed to have a lovely time too, eh Steve?! I'm ashamed to say it, but I didn't take any pictures of any of our cars apart from one dodgy phone pic from our bedroom window shortly after arriving on the Friday. Anyway, thanks again Martin. Looking foraward to the next one.

  22. This is probably my all time favourite YouTube video. Be warned if you're at work though, it has a few naughty words in it, but you do need the volume up for full effect.
