I'm in the same boat, not sure to get it re-welded or buy a scorpion or something? I have a feeling mine will be really quiet if I get it fixed because I think the weld has been gradually breaking for the last couple of months and until this week I liked the sound of it still! viewtopic.php?f=9&t=49584&p=724563#p724563

Right so, the rear join with the welded gaskets just before the back box actually moves (they will slide slightly with not too much force so clearly are not air tight!) so through my mechanical expertise I have decided that is where the noise is coming from. The system is 7 years old and has done 46k miles, the front of the system including the Y section seems to be in decent shape, the rear is a bit rusty looking but also seems to have its integrity still. Just that weld that has gone to s**t. Does anyone think I should try and get the join welded again with some new gaskets or replace back section with OEM / scorpion? I'm not into serious mods yet but wouldn't mind a bit more of a cheeky sound which I hear the scorpion might provide, is it mainly the post Y section of the exhaust that produces most of the sound or is it the whole exhaust system from front to back?

That is cheap, for that mileage and spec you would expect to pay around £8k I would suggest. There has to be something wrong there, he only has 2 feedback as an eBayer so I would stay away if I were you. Or take a mechanic with you if you're actually going to see it...

You would be more likely to get shot than get a car if you met them with £5k I think

Also: 3,4,10 is actually 3,4,0 (10 X flashes = 0) Took me a while to figure that out when I did it

Ah well, it's only about £10,000 under priced, so maybe they just didn't get their market research spot on...

I'm with Elephant, just enquired about changing OEM to aftermarket exhaust and was told the exhaust would not make a difference because it is classed as wear and tear. Next up, asked how much it would cost to change from a Yorkshire postcode to a Lincolnshire postcode...answer was an extra £200. Despite the fact that the car will be EXACTLY as secure in both locations because it is locked away behind fences etc. They base far too much on the postcode and don't actually get it right if you are one of the minorities who has a different location. I wonder if there are companies that tailor their polices exactly to the specifics of the customer or is that something of the past?

Common sense did suggest that but it also told me not to go sticking my eyes near places with loose bits of corroded metal and hot gasses when I don't have a clue what's what! The join was looking pretty close to the end of its shelf life last time I saw under the car so that's probably it then. Thanks again all, I'll go have a look down there

Haha, yeah it was a bit strange sounding for the last week or so and then today it started to make 'splutter / cough' type noises too. That's definitely the exhaust though isn't it? Japex will probably be seeing me again soon

I almost bought a silver Z with black alloys. It was just the standard OEM base alloys (not Rays) and they had been painted black. Looks pretty good IMO, then with black Z badges etc it all starts to go together quite well. There will definitely be some people on here with that kind of set up so hopefully you'll get to see some pics soon. Photoshop is also a brilliant way to have a look at that sort of thing.
