  1. As per Wills comment, if some **** has been burning it up out back then then they could have done damage to the clutch? I would NEVER use a main dealer simply because they hire the cheapest labour they can and charge stupid rates just because they have a Brand name on the door. Having family who have been in the business for over half a century they all say the same thing, well dressed sales man behind the counter, YTS kid given free reign on your car behind the scenes. I have heard umpteen stories of people dropping their cars off at dealerships only to see their own car drive past them as they are out later in the day with some kid revving the crap out of it. To your question, if you are in a low gear (try 3rd at 15/20mph) for the speed and floor it and the revs pick up and the car doesnt gain speed you are looking at a slipping clutch. If its slipping its a full clutch and flywheel replacement.
  2. Yeah because the GTR definitely needed more power, speed etc

    Bye 350z:(

Love the replacement, I did nose around at those when I briefly slipped into my sensible mode just before buying my VX220...
  4. Looking forwards to this. And well done for coming to a good solution for all involved and a good job well done as well chaps
  5. Super cheers mate - just put an order in on a monthly basis see how it goes.
  6. More money gone on the car...sure it will be worth it though!
  7. ...how have I only just stumbled upon this! I presume any codes/group buys are used up (yes I am being lazy and not reading thread pages 2-24!)
  8. I found it very clunky, too much movement, not tight. Short throw yes but far too much play in it even within that short throw. Clutch is really heavy and doesn't mate up well to a short throw if you ask me. Synchro's go far too early on a Zed for my liking also, lots of threads on here covering that. Super engine, a good noise once you change the exhaust, but that transmission, its a shocker. Having got my go kart VX after the Zed, have to say the gear change in that made it feel like I was changing gear in a lorry in the Zed.
  9. These are getting cheaper by the day! Good price at £50.
  10. Went out and got one, and over a time of ownership came to a conclusion that the gearbox and clutch is pretty crap, yes
  11. Wasso has standard back box but some magic in-between it and the engine and have to say its one of the best sounds I have ever heard on a Zed
  12. Clutch and gearbox on a Zed is really a let down on what is in general a pretty decent car.
  13. Fortune Mazda RX7 though...
  14. Always pop this little article out when I see rising sun stuff, it looks 'cool' but worth knowing the history - I have a rising sun flag on my stick from when I climbed Mount Fuji, had a friend who is chinese/indian visit and found it really offensive! Having lived in Japan, they feel it means more than what WWII pushed it out as but for a lot of nations it is a symbol of WWII oppression! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rising_Sun_Flag
  15. The only reason they say that is because it doesnt sit with the theme of the show. Given the millions of modified cars that exist without going bang out there they can't truely believe the claims they make about them.
  16. Have to say I would have bought another Zed but due to the amount of money and time spent on the previous one, I just couldnt bring myself to start over Still love coming along to meets and looking over them - noticed a real shift to engine bling in the last year or so!
  17. Well if you are only talking two seater sports cars, then 'for the money' its up against the Audi TT, S2000, Z4, Boxster etc. All very good cars. Well TT is debateable. But 'for the money' you can get all sorts of really fantastic drivers cars - love my VX
  18. Still think Zeds look fantastic and loved going out driving in them - I would disagree with Clarkson's comments, actually I would also disagree with zippy that 'for the money its the best car on the road'
  19. Go for as low a mileage you can get in your budget with a good history of servicing receipts (stamps in a book mean naff all). Personally I wouldn't buy a high miler even with lots of service history simply because selling the car at a decent price quickly would be an utter ball ache. As with any used car purchase there are risks, its up to you to minimise the risks and lower miles is one of those you can minimise.
  20. Starts off very chavy, then to his credit puts together a rather comical car ad! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mazda/rx-7/eagle-thrust-death-panther-fighter-jet--black-edition/1592982#
  21. Did you want the weave pattern to go in opposite directions where it meets between the gear surround and the stereo surround?
  22. ...and I owe you brekkie for the roof cable Maybe an adjusted Kent route without the closed M25!
  23. Exactly. I mean lets think about it logically. Does Shell get first dibs on the good stuff, or is it more likely that the UK is supplied with fuel from distributors in exactly the same format within which each company adds their own additives then sells it on forecourts? Can these additives substantially change the power of the fuel? Course not, otherwise there would be huge claims all over the forecourts such as 'proven to be better than BP' - which there isn't. Does Tesco drill for and convert its own fuel? Or does it buy it from the same place BP or Shell or anyone else buys it from? Its 99% the same stuff on the whole - the rest are company specific additives and some very good marketing.
