  1. That's incredible! Awesome power and looks.. must've set you back a fair bit! As others have said a proper build thread would make for a great read. Only thing I noticed... lots and lots of horsepower... and... STANDARD BRAKES!?

  3. I had the same dreams as you when I first got the Zed. Unfortunately, £/hp supercharging is by FAR the best option. Getting 350bhp Naturally Aspirated, I am led to believe, requires so much money and effort it really isn't worth it. And where were you dyno'd? Don't mean to sound offensive but to have 314bhp with those mods on an 05 car sounds like you have a very optimistic dyno, or a very strong car!

  5. Firstly, thanks for the guide, its certainly something I never understood before! One question though, if a POSITIVE offset is closer to the outside of the wheel, how could adding a spacer reduce the offset? Assuming the positive offset is measured between the centre line and the outside, if it was already 30, then adding a spacer would take it further from the center and increase it???

Bit of a late reply, sorry mate, but yes it's my RPG It's really a showpiece, scares the s*** out of newbies at games, but it's basically a glorified moscart launcher, and a pretty poor one at that. Because the rocket 'shell' houses the moscarts, there's a tiny hole at the tip of the rocket, so all the bbs fly out of the moscart, bounce around inside the shell and sort of dribble out of the end. 10m if you're lucky! However, with the moscarts designed for paintball it works very well. Their bore size is the same as the hole at the end of the rocket, so paintballs come FLYING out and go about 50m. You can get SO much gas in the paintball moscarts!

  9. balls. thanks for the input dude. As much as I am still clinging to the hope that half the forum comes on and says 'it'll be fine, I've done hundreds of hot laps on a repaired tyre' it's looking like two new rears for me then, just to be safe!
  10. Sorry to necropost here, but at least I used the search, and thought this would be an appropriate thread to post in! So today I went down to the local garage to check my wheel balancing, which was corrected so no more vibration on the motorway! The downside was, we found a 1.5 inch nail dug in to one of my rears, in the tread groove. amazingly the tyre pressure have been OK so I never would've known otherwise, but of course got the nail removed and the tyre repaired. Its an almost brand new Bridgestone so there was no way I was replacing it unless I had to! Anyway, just wanted to ask how 'good' these tyre repairs are. The repair they did was to drill out the hole (!) to make it circular, then threaded this plastic tube thing in to seal it. I assume that's the standard way of doing it but I thought I'd better mention the method just in case it made a difference. Now I'm planning to track the car very soon, will that sort of repair stand up to track work? Or will hard cornering/sliding/wheelspin/heat in the tyres be too much for it? Garage seemed confident, but thought it safest to get a second opinion!
  11. Hahah, I do have a G36. It's the K version. Shorter and more usable than the standard rifle, I don't like the C version personally but that is generally the most favoured as it has a rail for mounting optics. Armed police love it. Afraid I'm not looking to sell though, I do love my collection and the G36 is a cracking performer. Plenty of G36s out there though!
  12. Awesome, well like I said I'd recommend a G36. Very functional and I think they look great. Plus the Bundeswehr loadout is quite rare and also looks really good! I need to get back into skirmishing! Got an arsenal of about 30 different weapons that I haven't used in months!
  13. Exactly that You have to be honest about being 'hit'. Most people are generally good with it, because when you are killed you go back to a respawn point where you can rejoin the game. So there isn't much incentive to cheat really. Also on a lot of occasions if you get laced up by a burst of full auto, it's uncomfortable enough that you WANT it to stop so you call yourself out! Marshalling at sites is very good these days too, and very intolerant of anybody found cheating! As for the OP, flecktarn is awesome! Personally I think you should do the full Bundeswehr loadout and get a nice Classic Army G36!
  14. Yup, have been airsofting for the last 5 or so years. It's my chance to play soldiers without having to use crappy waterguns over the park... or at the other end of the scale have to play with real bullets It's such an awesome sport to play, I find it much more immersive and fun than paintball (plus it hurts less and pellets are cheaper!). It's great fun, and the community in general is very friendly and helpful. Not to mention you get to run around the woods shooting them with AK47s and M16s and Desert Eagles and the like! If you really are thinking about taking it seriously, then I've broken down all the things you need to know before getting your own kit! LEGALITY: Before you can BUY your own gun you must be over 18 (which I'm assuming you are.. haha) but you also have to be able to prove in a court of law that you are a 'regular player'. It is illegal to BUY (but not OWN) an airsoft gun if you cannot fulfil those criteria. You can be gifted them, regardless of age or playing status, the law related to buying the weapons. To my knowledge there has been no case law of any offences relating to the purchase of airsoft guns under the new legislation (Violent Crime Reduction Act), so as of yet no one actually knows for certain how to 'prove' you are a regular skirmisher. There is also no definition of what would be considered 'regular' playing. But the way most people use is to sign up and get a UKARA membership. UKARA (United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association) was set up by retailers and site owners as a membership scheme for players. To earn your membership, fill out the form at your local site, and then you must play THREE games in NO LESS than 2 weeks. They will then grant you UKARA membership. Most retailers in the UK will only sell guns to UKARA members. UKARA is not the only way of purchasing a gun. As I said, the seller only needs to be satisfied that you are over 18 and a regular player. (To try and stop kids/maniacs buying replica weapons and holding up banks every week). How you go about proving you are a regular player is up to you, but getting UKARA is by far the easiest, and most probably safest way, seeing as most people in the community use it as their 'defence' that would be relied on in court. Buying camo outfits, vests, holsters, helmets and all the other gear is perfectly legal for anyone to buy. COST: Getting your own airsoft kit can be expensive, but doesn't have to be. A decent set of brown or green old clothes will do you fine, and some sturdy walking or builder's boots are needed. Surplus camo uniform can be had pretty cheaply if you want to look a bit more serious, and if your pockets aren't good enough then a cheap tactical vest would be about £30. Budgeting £150 would get you a very decent set of kit. Boots and eye protection are the most vital though. You CAN play in your t shirt and jeans, but you will be easy to spot and won't look the part, haha! Guns aren't even that expensive anymore. Chinese clone guns (e.g. Jing gong, CYMA, Dboys) are vastly better than they used to be, and second hand ones can be had for around £150. You'll usually get a couple of magazines and a battery in second hand sales too. The cost ultimately depends on how much you want, and how good quality, and how realistic you want your look to be.   15. Definitely worth checking. Mine did the same a couple of weeks ago, and it was the switch that was broken. Found that out after taking the whole door apart to get at the motor as I assumed it was the normal motor problems, haha. Took it to Abbey who got me a nice new switch block
  16. On my first car, my Saxo.. I initially resisted Chavvy mods. But the one thing I did do to it was awful. Bought some 'racing pedals' from Halfords. Had to drill the original ones to fit them, and when they were on, they were so close together that you could hardly press an individual pedal without touching the one next to it! Saxo pedals are close enough as it is! But hey, I thought they looked 'cool' at the time
  17. This is definitely the best £/hp mod you can do! Haha. My Zed was with Abbey whilst I was on holiday, and for a few days I was driving around my Saxo. It 's a VTR so felt quite nippy once upon a time, but is a complete and utter shed nowadays, dirty and falling apart! Stepping back in to the Zed was a wonderful feeling.. I had to double check that I hadn't asked Abbey to supercharge it!
  18. Thanks for the kind words, shame I didn't have a good camera with me though really! The roads round there are really epic, but I was mainly just cruising along enjoying the view: 1) Because my Nan was in the car and she didn't fancy the steep drops into water! and 2) it was raining ever so slightly, and the little iron fences cordoning off 60ft drops made ME want to be cautious! Downside of that was that tyres and brakes were bone cold, so if I did see a particularly fun looking twisty bit.. the car didn't exactly feel at it's best anyway! Nevertheless it was a good day. And was particularly nice for my Nan as her late gentleman friend grew up in the farm at the bottom of the first dam. And it also gave her an opportunity to visit his stone in Rhayader cemetery. And strangely enough, for a 76 year old woman, she wasn't too phased by the 3rd gear overtaking on the road back! When there's another meet down that way I will try my best to attend!
  19. Went to see my Nan in Hereford today... she suggested taking the car up to the Elan Valley (and she knows someone in Rhayader anyway) so we went! Round trip from London > Hereford > Wales and back again Anyway, some of you will recognise the scenery from the Fifth Gear review of the HR Zed. I took the opportunity to take a few pics of my own. I'm no photographer and they are only from an iPhone but enjoy them anyway!

  22. I put down 20-24 as I'm 20 now, but I technically got my Zed at 19. I only bought the Zed when I knew I could properly afford it (including everything, and when my older family members were sure I was mature and sensible enough to drive it. I bought it because it was the perfect blend of looks, performance, exclusivity, condition, costs and reliability. None of the other cars in my price bracket ticked all the boxes so easily. (Could never afford to run a Merc CL600, M3s didn't get the best record of reliability and common as muck, Boxsters cost too much and were older with more miles...etc). Yes it is a status symbol for a young man and people notice me in it, but isn't that partly why some of us spend whole weekends polishing our cars? So people notice and give nice comments? Not every young man with a nice car rides along with his bass blaring out with neon lights under the car and his arm in a ridiculous position over the top of the steering wheel trying to look like a 'G'. Makes me sad that it ALWAYS gets said when this topic comes up. In my experience those losers aren't drawn to Zeds. SOME see it as a Need for Speed/Fast and Furious type car, but most of them prefer Supras, BMWs and Evos and Golfs and stuff (all scraping the ground, with too many spoilers and stupid coloured lights everywhere) and generally would rather replicate that look with their 106s and Corsas. The Zed is usually held amongst a higher class of competition, like the Cayman, Z4, TT. These are not generally gangster chav cars, and that's what appealed to me about the Zed. People see it as a more mature sportscar, and (hopefully) see me as a more mature person because of it. Rather than seeing me as a complete t**t in some souped up old monstrosity
