  1. I am getting HFC's this week. To be clear, would it be best to have the O2 sensor fitted with the new cats? Where is the sensor located exactly and is it easy to fit (sorry for my ignorance).
  2. 31, senior lecturer at university, exercise physiologist and currently studying part-time for a PhD (roughly the effects of exercise on impaired fasting glucose and impaired glucose tolerance - precursors to type 2 diabetes).
  3. Bugger... I just traded in a load of old games for in store credit at Gamestation. There goes my money! Could be worse though... I still have a job.
  4. Is there an audible click when you twist the key? Perhaps a starter motor problem? This is copied from an issue I had a while back: Car failed to start. Battery fine; power being delivered to solenoid (detected by audible click when turning the key) but no engine crank at all. Started with a bump start. Worked fine for a week. Stopped working again. Then worked intermittently for another week or so. Took the car to Nissan but in typical fashion it worked fine for them so they advised me they could do nothing because they can't diagnose a problem if it is not present when they look at it (makes sense; but obviously didn't help me very much!) All my reading suggested there was a problem with the starter motor (either: 1. faulty hold-on lead, 2. worn bushes, or 3. worn pinion/flywheel? The second one in particular might explain the intermittent failure?) Decided to have the starter reconditioned anyway (there was no obvious fault upon inspection) and it has worked fine since (touch wood!) A new starter from Nissan costs about £540 + VAT by the way!! Been working fine for almost two years now... hope you get it solved?
  5. Stayed in MGM Signature a few years back... very nice, reasonable price... I think in general you get a lot for your money with hotel rooms. I've also stayed in the Platinum Hotel which is not on the strip; stayed there because it was cheap but the room was almost as big and well equipped as my house!! As above: anything Cirque is good - or try the Blue Man Group; made me chuckle. I think there is a canyon nearby which is worth exploring...
  6. Getting the same tyres fitted to all four corners made a difference to mine - was OEM front and Nexen (!?) rear. Falken all round now. Oh and yes... the roads in Leeds are poo!
  7. VX220 Turbo was my first performance car... oh I miss her..! Coming off a roundabout one December lost the back end. The car had loads of mechanical grip but with the mid-engine layout once the back had gone... well it had really gone! Spin... slide... sideways into a curb... a little bit of air... BANG... lamp post. Impacted drivers side just behind me (about 50 cm behind!) Bent the chassis and wrote it off regrettably. I remember thinking three things: 1) thank goodness nobody else was hurt, 2) thank all that is good that I didn't leave my wife a widow or my dear mother without one of her sons, and 3) grateful that I wasn't really hurt. Gutted that I'd ruined my car but it could have been a lot worse! It has made me more cautious in bad weather (I hope) and I try to be very careful if I ever decide to exploit the car's [350Z] performance.
  8. At that price an E46 would get my vote. If you can budget a little higher: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3278791.htm Can't believe they still cost this at 92,000 miles - engine rebuild though!
  9. Sounds ideal. South Leeds if anyone is nearby..!??!??
  10. Sorry: I was not clear I already have the Milltek; would the addition of a HFC make a BIG difference on top of the Milltek? I should have asked that originally
  11. Hmmm.... this could be a future upgrade!? Can I ask: does the Berk HFC make a MASSIVE difference to the volume? I quite like the Milltek - but a bit more noise would be acceptable to me.
  12. Maxxis have a good tyre for each purpose I find. Minion DH super tacky front and High Roller 60a at the rear on a DH/Free-ride bike. For a Trek Fuel Ex: Maxxis Ardent front and rear; they are a decent compromise between grip and rolling resistance and pretty good this time of year. I use a range of tyres (when I can be bothered to change them!) I think the size has a big impact... 2.5 's on big bike feel indestructible... 2.1 Ardents are good... but never going to be as fast as skinny 1.9's (Bontrager).
  13. Still a little white up top. The trails were awesome and even managed to pass a few black bears! I saw some of the hills for the mens elite downhill skiing - now that looks insane!! Steep and fast is not the word!!
  14. Hire a mountain bike... you can take in the coast, bridge, Fort Mason/Presidio area, Golden Gate Park (where I saw my first 370Z before it's release in the UK I think) and then finish with a cycle down Lombard Street back towards Pier 39. All in one nice loop. It's a good route - not too strenuous bar the odd stupidly steep hill (walk them) - and you get a nice feel for the place. If you go near Alamo Square - a bit of a detour - be careful: nearby areas can be a bit iffy! Enjoy.
  15. I think there are enough 350Z's around for you to be choosy... so be patient. Personally I wouldn't let a small amount of bubbling on the alloys or a few stone chips up front put me off an otherwise good car - you could always have them refurbished relatively cheaply?? But if the car was generally not presented well and your gut said no I think you have done the right thing by walking away. Keep looking and best of luck.
  16. Whistler, BC, Canada is just perfect... rather cold this time of year but getting warm soon. Admittedly further to travel... and you do cheat the up-hills!! [img][/img]
  17. Had a Milltek for a while now... Good quality and fit... Not too loud but a little louder (deeper) than OEM and sounds great above 3000 rpm especially combined with JWT popcharger. Certainly more discreet than others but if you don't need to sound like a boy-racer you should be pleased.
  18. Two types of VX/Elise owner. Those who have spun. And those who have spun and hit something. Regrettably I fall into the latter category (a lampost). Great grip... but when they let go... they really let go! I suppose that's a result of the mid-engined layout... and people (like me) surpassing their own driving skill!!
  19. Evo magazines description seems right to me... "It’s a hairy-arsed drivers’ car in the best possible way"... Agreed.
  20. Welcome. I am a previous VX220 Turbo owner. I must be honest and say you will miss your VX. It always felt special driving my VX... the awkward access and wide sills just add character IMO. A genuine driving pleasure and as you suggest: rare (and a possible classic in the making?) I miss the handling... basically a go-kart on steroids! And the VX got so many admiring/what is that? glances. That said: you will love a 350Z. It is clearly a different proposition (which you clearly expect); most importantly (for me) it has strong performance, lots of driver feedback and it looks & sounds great! It does not have the 'immediacy' of the VX Turbo (never driven a na VX)... given the difference in mass this is to be expected... the 350Z is still a strong accelerator (but I thought the VXT was extremely rapid)... once the 350Z is breathing though (past 3000 rpm) it would soon catch the VX I think... Both great cars. You'll love the 350Z but miss the VX (like I do...)... that's great driver cars for you I guess!? One good thing with the hunt for a 350Z compared to a VX will be the relative luxury you can afford yourself looking for a good one - the 350Z clearly not as rare or seasonal as a VX. Don't rush and get a good one. Best of luck.
  21. I agree. A hybrid programme would be great. Evo magazine as a TV programme would be great.
  22. Bought a 3D Samsung TV this month. Pleased with it; the 3D films (I only have Shrek) look pretty good. Also, there is an option to upgrade 2D to 3D; I appreciate it is NOT true 3D but it looks quite good - adds a bit more depth and crispness to normal images and makes the Xbox 360 look pretty cool (this is the thing that has impressed me the most to be honest). I do love a sharp image! Thing is though there is not that much available in 3D - I can't see it being a big thing either!? For me: buy a good TV first and foremost - if it has 3D well that's a bonus... apart from the need for a 3D HDMI cable and 3D Blu-ray player (and a 3D sound system if you choose to go that far..!!!)
  23. Glad to see a Milltek following for the 350Z... had mine a few months now and I agree that it is most enjoyable. I would describe it as a quality sound; it doesn't sound too 'aftermarket' like some. It's also nice to know that others have 'take a detour on the way home syndrome'... It's the sign of a good car when you do that... 2nd and 3rd are usually my choice for aural purposes!!!!
