  1. As the title suggests really... previously I was driving Bridgestone OEM at front and some cheap brand at the rear (Nexen?)... they were on the 350Z when I bought it... and because I'm a tight Northener I couldn't bring myself to bin them..! The 452's feel much more planted, tyre roar is noticeably less and the car does not feel as 'susceptible' to camber changes on the road surface (the latter possibly was perhaps due to the different brands I was running previously). Recommended.
  2. Spun my VX220T this time last year... sideways... kurb... air... lampost!!! Three things: 1) thank the almighty that I didnt't hurt anyone else, 2) thanks that my wife didn't get a phone call explaining the worst... and 3) thanks that my dear mother didn't get the same phone call. Glad you are OK - we live and learn. Hope it is not a total loss but if so: well it's only metal and plastic and you can look forward to spending the insurance payout on something else..!?
  3. Lacto-ovo vegetarian = no meat or fish but eats dairy and eggs Ovo vegetarian = no meat or fish or dairy but eats eggs Lacto vegetarian = no meat or fish or eggs but eats dairy Vegan = does not eat any animal products including honey (and most do not use animal products e.g. leather) A true vegan is hardcore... and I wouldn't recommened vegetarianism for health reasons per se. However, cutting out many meat based meals can reduce a potential source of saturated fat... but ultimately good nutrition is about balance. As suggested already: most vegetarian (or semi-vegetarian) diets can be successful. Potential problems can be sufficient intake of protein, iron, calcium and B-vitamins (meat is a fantastic source for all of these). However, careful meal planning and combinations of foods can cater for this. Regarding the training and fitness/muscle mass thing: this does add an extra challenge. Timing of protein intake is the most important consideration after a workout. Certain food combinations can be useful to ensure you gain all the essential amino acids (building blocks of protein) that your body needs (e.g. grains and legumes together or vegetable with dairy). This will become much easier if you allow yourself dairy. You could also consider protein supplementation (again assuming you are happy if they use animal products). Consider that the protein requirement for humans (even exercising ones) is highly 'embellished' by magazines and supplement companies trying to make money; it is not as hard as you might imagine to meet your daily protein requirements. Finally... it is absolutely your decision. Your digestive system is designed to eat both meat and vegetables but I do not think it can be considered unnatural not to eat meat. It's not like we are hunter gatherers any more... ultimately as adults we are not designed to consume milk... no other mammal as an adult drinks milk... we are rather domesticated animals!! By the way... I am not a vegetarian but I teach some of this stuff at University... I'll stop blabbering on like an enthusiastic lecturer now..!
  4. Not sure about the MASSIVE aerial in this shot..!!! Looks very nice indeed.
  5. I'll try and sort a sound clip if my technological skills will permit...
  6. Well happy! Had a new Milltek Sports exhaust fitted by CS. Pics below... The exhaust is just what I wanted. Not massively different from the OEM sound... a little louder, deeper with more bass from idle to 3000 rpm and then noticeably 'different' beyond that. It doesn't look that different from standard either... again, this is not a bad thing to me - I am no boy racer! As seems to be the normal experience on this forum: the service from CS was excellent so highly recommended. Thanks to Mitz and Andy for fitting me in late on a Friday and being understanding that I was 20 min late!! The exhaust seems high quality and fit the car without any problems. Cheers guys
  7. Now that's an impressive birthday gift... good on your old man! Mine was the second I viewed. Depends on the luck of the draw in terms of what you view I guess..? Actually I didn't go with the intention of buying... just to look. I was initially after a black or Azure but when I saw it in silver I thought it looked amazing... the rest checked out so I bought it.
  8. I think the only difference is what the Nissan brochire blurb calls 'Anti-submarine bolster cutouts for both legs for optimum pedal operation'... in other words the shape of the seat is slightly different under your legs?
  9. I think the 350Z looks more expensive than it actually is and I don't think it has an 'ugly' angle. The vibrating gear knob!? The fact that my 50/60 ish year-old neighbour (who really likes the car) calls it a Datsun.

    Exhaust

I am having a Milltek fitted next week... so I'll feedback when I do. I too was tempted by (hopefully) a 'quality' sound rather than just a loud noise. Vik54 has one and likes the result... described it as one of the more 'refined' exhaust sounds for the 350Z. I guess it's a bit of a shot in the dark because there is not as much info about the Milltek comapred to others.
  11. Hi there, I bought my 350Z from the same dealer last January. They certainly have no expertise in the 350Z per se but I would suggest the condition of their cars in general is quite good. If the ad says good condition I don't think there is a reason to doubt it. To be honest I went to view the 350Z I bought because it was close to home and I didn't expect to buy; however, when I saw it in silver I loved it; it had a full Nissan Service History and was in excellent condition. A few points to consider: I have had one problem with the car since I bought it; 1-2 months after buying the car the starter motor was intermittently not working (fine now it has been refurbished). However, this is perhaps something you can understand the dealer not knowing about; if it started for them... well it wouldn't be an issue. I took out a warranty from the garage (name either 'Olympic Warranties' or 'Warranties 2000' depending on literature). This was perhaps a mistake. They did eventually pay for the starter motor but it took A LOT of p**sing about to get them to agree! That said: what do you expect from such a warranty company... not the dealers fault per se I suppose..!? The salesman that I dealt with (Neil) was a bit of a pain because he was very reluctant to let me test drive it; even though I specifically asked him on the phone before I went to view the car and he said I could. If they have had to replace any tyres they will probably go for a cheap brand (they had OEM Bridgestone at the front and Nexen at the rear when I bought mine). I have seen a couple of other 350Z's in there since I bought mine; they seem to sell them quick. Prices generally seem reasonable... I think? I don't think I will be able to get to the dealer anytime soon but I hope this info helps. Randomly: the owner is my wifes, brothers, wifes, sons, girlfriends, dad... and he has just bought a GTR!! That doesn't help though... I don't know the man..!!
  12. Very nice. The old dear (no insult meant if she is related) in the background is clealry looking at the S2000 rather than the Ferrari..! Result.
  13. If money is an issue and I need to go cheaper = Honda (or Mugen) Integra Type-R (not sure why) or a Clio 172/182 Cup or Trophy Of similar value = another VX220 (Turbo or converted Na to supercharged), Lotus Exige (prefer S1), S2000 Bit more money = 370Z, Megane R26.R, Focus RS Expensive toys that I could never convince my wife to let me buy = at the top Ariel Atom!! Noble M12 TVR's that I'd love but probably wouldn't want to spend the money to maintain = Griffith, Tuscan, T350c or Sagaris (love 'em all) One day = GTR
  14. +2 Fantastic rolls royce engines Ste . +3 great programme! I didn't even bother with watching TG. +4 Jet engine building was impressive stuff. The Robin Reliant stuff has made me laugh though. My old man had several in the 80's. We used to go on family holidays in it! Five of us! Climbing to the high point of the M62 on a windy day was... shall we say scary! And bloody slow. They really are easy to turn over; my dad used to tell me to lean to one side to counter the car tipping when going around corners
  15. Is there any difference at all between the JWT Popcharger and the K&N cone filter (not the drop in filters)..? I suspect not. Thinking of buying for the sound.
  16. Regrettably, had my VX220 Turbo declared a total loss!! Initially, I wanted another VX (or Elise) but decided to try something a bit different. I've always liked the 350Z and research certainly confirmed them as a strong 'drivers car' (ignoring the one obvious negative review - which was covered well on this forum recently!). I do miss the VXT though. Mainly the response and 'connectedness' to the road - you can't beat unassisted steering on the Elise chassis. I also miss the immediacy of the Turbo in such a light car. That said: the 350Z obviously has strong points. The very useable torque, linear power delivery and muscular look (for a seven year old car I think the 350Z looks great). Also, it inspires much more confidence when have some fun on the road. Very happy with the 350Z now... took a while to get used to it after the VXT... after 6 months of ownership I really enjoy the car now.
  17. My first thought would be a Clio 172... Or a loved Mk1 Golf GTI..?
  18. They do look rather nice in Liquid Yellow I must agree... And I'm glad someone corrected Mr Clarkson...
  19. I've had fun in a V6 255 on a track day and it felt very fast... however, at the time it was only the second performance car I had ever driven (after an Impreza) so the memory might be somewhat embellished.!? I agree with the general consensus on here though: you probably wouldn't buy it mainly for performance or the dynamics. You would buy it for what it is... a bonkers car with an amazing road presence. I think they are great! There's an Evo bookmag out at the moment which has a purchase guide for the Clio V6 255 if that helps? Oh and yes... I did spin it (and didn't hit anything)!!
  20. Thanks for that; I'll certainly give it a go.
  21. Hmmm... some polyfiller maybe..!?
  22. Bugger! Someone reversed a mini-bus into my 350Z yesterday and placed a tow-bar shaped hole in the rear bumper! It could have been a lot worse I guess; dissapointing nevertheless! Pics below. [/img] Should be covered by the insurance so not a major issue... I'm getting a Milltek Sports exhaust fitted in the next couple of weeks so glad it didn't happen after the fitting. Anyway: the impact wasn't massive by any means... although big enough to do the obvious damage! Other than the clear need for a new rear bumper is there anything else I should ask the repair company to consider/look for? There doesn't seem to be any other obvious damage and the car drove as normal for 70 miles after the impact. Any advice appreciated. Matt
  23. You have to love TVR's... if I were richer I'd have a Tuscan Mk2 or Sagaris for sure. 400 bhp in a car that weighs little more than a tonne... and with no ABS or safety equipment at all (is that right?)... what could possibly go wrong!? Are TVR making a comeback or have I made that up??

    350z == dead

Nicely done... I enjoyed my time with a VX220 Turbo very much... very responsive with real 'kick in the back of the head acceleration'. Pretty rare and they turn heads constantly. The engine is pretty bombproof also... and the car is quite easily modified (not that it really needs it). The VX220 forum is very good also - much like this one. Happy shopping!

Thankfully you are in one piece. Are you tempted by a different car?? (Not that you necessarily should be?) When I had my VX220T declared a total loss the bright side was that it gave me a reason to try a different, but equally enjoyable, car (a 350Z obviously). All the best
