  1. Noticed this article on Jalopnik today and thought it would interest some of the people on here: http://jalopnik.com/5645068/i-am-not-a- ... od-drinker It doesn't look very comfortable!
  2. Or who managed to spill the most petrol on their shoes!
  3. A word of warning: with aluminium filiform corrosion (which I'm pretty sure this is) if you re-work a section (i.e. sand it back to remove the corrosion) the re-worked area is then far more susceptible to corrosion in the future. There isn't really much you can do about this but to minimise the effect it's best to re-work as small a section as possible. Good luck!
  4. I was reading EVO today and their long-termer GTR reminded me of this thread - it's been wrapped in purple and looks quite good in photos:
  5. I voted nice area with a driveway. You don't want to move closer to work because we're probably all moving site next year plus nearer to work means moving into Coventry If you end up somewhere with only one off-road parking space then I'm pretty sure you wouldn't mind leaving the pug in the road.
  6. I couldn't agree more with this! I've only got a 10 mile drive to work, on not very exciting roads, but I still smile every time I get in the car in the morning and after having a crap day at work there's nothing better than climbing into a nice car to drive home in. I understand the appeal of a shed for moving big/dirty stuff and I'm tempted to get a second car for the winter as I don't really fancy driving the zed in the snow, but if I did get a shed it wouldn't get used much at all.
  7. Different tyres can have a different rolling resistance which will affect fuel economy but I'd be surprised if it makes that much difference. I think cars like the Prius come with special economy tires which means that they have a very low rolling resistance but probably low grip levels as well.
  8. I came across a new website today selling all kinds of automotive goods - KaleCoAuto (http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=index) The best product I spotted was the 'Engine Oil Bypass Kit', the website explains what it does: "Modern synthetic oil is very expensive - so why run the risk of getting it dirty by running it through your motor block? KaleCoAuto bypass kit comes with everything you need to run the oil around your motor block where it will do more good. Oil runs cooler, and as a result, there may be horsepower gains!" It makes sense to me! I'm also thinking of getting a '710 cap' from the same website to use with my new kit:
  9. Sounds like an interesting trip! Just one thing, the red car isn't a Morgan it's a Wiesmann GT MF5.
  10. [GrumpyOldManModeOn]Bloody students!.....[/GrumpyOldManModeOff] I was actually a student there recently, just not one of the ones involved in playing with the fountain. But, yes, bloody students!
  11. The foamy fountain seems to be an annual event in Bath, it normally happens just after the uni students return from their holidays but I'm sure that's just a coincidence...
  12. I hope it wasn't the same driver that did both then, that would be a pretty crap week at work!
  13. Was that at the roundabout linking the M1 and the A45 near Weedon? I drove past a lorry which looked just like that on Tuesday this week.
  14. The heavy vibrations through the brake pedal sounds like the ABS was acting. Possibly some diesel spilt on the hill?
  15. Research!! To buy some buckets and polish. No wonder you work in IT. It's all about buying the right buckets and polish! I spent ages researching the best products to use after I bought the zed, they do keep it looking nice and clean though so it was worth it.
  16. Just don't have the zed parked nearby at the same time in case they enjoy it so much they decide to do your other car for you too!
  17. Fit your spare set of Rays to it. If they don't fit (not sure why I said 'if'!) then get out a jigsaw/hammer/drill/whatever and modify the bodywork to get them to fit.
  18. You can't beat a nice grey car! The front one could be the one I used to see at Gaydon, I don't recognise the boring silver one though.

    My new car!!

I think the denim seats might have actually been a special edition, I could be wrong though. They had one of these on Top Gear on Sunday as well, so you were lucky to get yours when you did as the prices are bound to sky-rocket now!
  20. Someone should have told them that there's only 10 floors though...
  21. I'm guessing I know who this is - Liam at work told me you were getting a 370 and Ray confirmed it on Wednesday! You went for the best colour too.
  22. I was tempted by this car before I got mine, I had a viewing organised but never made it - I viewed a different car the day before and bought that one instead! I've just looked back at the old 'for sale' thread on here and noticed there was someone there who commented: ":scare: very good price. Once again another 350z that I'd love to buy... ...in 5 months time! GLWTS" that was about 5 months ago...
  23. I know someone who lives in Leamington and was asking around recently to see if anyone wanted to go windsurfing with him, I'll send you his details.
  24. I left uni desperate to get a Caterham and once I'd been working for a while and saved up enough I started looking for one. But as it was going to be my only car I decided in the end that it just wasn't practical enough. I then spent along time considering pretty much every car there is (sporty clios, evos, M3s, old Bentleys, TVRs, etc, etc) and narrowed it down to two choices: a 350Z or a VX220. I was leaning more towards the VX220 and the more I read about it the better it sounded but equally the more I read about it the worse it sounded for a day-to-day car. In the end I decided to go down the sensible route and buy a 350Z; funnily enough when I told people I had bought a nice sensible car, a 350Z, they looked at me like I was crazy. When I first started looking at cars I thought that maybe I'd get a 350Z in a couple of cars time (if that makes sense?) as I surely wouldn't be able to afford one yet and it would remain a car to dream of owning in the future. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that I could afford one (just!). Since getting my car a friend at work has bought a VX220 and he took me out for a ride in it. It's a great car but I found out that I don't fit in the drivers seat properly and so I wouldn't have been able to get one anyway. But even before finding out I don't fit in a VX220 I decided that I had definitely made the right decision.
