  1. +1 Also recommend giving the Poorboys wheel sealant a go - I have found the stuff to be absolutely bullet proof!
  2. I am sure that when I SORN'd my last car that you have to leave it that way for a period of time....cannot remember if it was weeks or months though
  3. Are you able to plumb a 12V supply directly to them or would you not feel comfortable doing that yourself? I am not a million miles away but I will struggle for time to do a reading run before Christmas. It sounds very much as though it is the fans at fault here - particularly if the level in the rad isn't changing. I seems a stretch for the garage to tell you that the water isn't circulating if they haven't spotted the fans never coming on. Suposing it is the fans - you can either replace with standards (everyone will jump in and show you the Zedmanalex smiley shortly) or you could go aftermarket. I have used Spal and Kenlowe fans on previous cars and they have always been extremely efficient - be warned though, some are directional and some will go both ways (ooooh matron!) Stick with it...it doesn't sound terminal, although appreciate the confidence knock when you are worried about watching the temp gauge
  4. Did the fans kick in at all? You could try passing a constant 12v supply to the fans...if they come on, the problem is elsewhere Where about are you? Sure a friendly local member could pop by with a spanner (or more usefully, a battery)
  5. +1 My car had a handful of issues when I got it which really got me down and took the shine off of a purchase that I had promised and worked up to. Luckily I am quite handy with spanners so it was just a case of rolling up my sleeves and getting on with it. Your problem sounds predominantly fan related - which is a common 'opportunity' with the zed. I would replace the fans, give it a full service - including fresh coolant and see how you go. Is there any sign of the rad leaking or having had vast numbers of fins cleared?
  6. 06 grey soft top with stubby and cleared rear fog lense Facelift (I think) black gt in standard form Any locals want to own up?
  7. Just fitted my carbon cooling panel...one clip doesn't quite fir and one decided to self destruct. Other than that, very successful
  8. Try photoshopping them in black - keeps the function they perform but ties them in with the blades
  9. One package arrived...one still being held prisoner by parcel force but all good
  10. Jim chases users for the HiRes versions as it stands today, but fair points - was just thinking that (with the exception of some posers) not everyone feels that their car is worthy of nomination and this would over come that.
  11. Get a stubby on there, chop the top off of the standard one or hang a flag on it

  13. Impressed that you made it out of Harlow with those wheels - that or I will assume that it was you that put a car on bricks to remove them Making excellent progress - looking forward to some more pictoral updates!
  14. So that's what makes it Milk chocolate
  15. British gas were doing a deal that they would do loft and cavity walls free if you were a dual fuel customer. As above though, council may also have deals on. I had the loft done by British gas last year and it's made a world of difference - it's about 10" deep all over. One point of note with the BG offer was that for them to do the loft, they have to be able to do the whole thing. That may need you to clear it out or pull up any boarding in there
  16. With all of the hard work that goes into the calendar I have found myself wondering how to make Jim's life easier... What are the chances of getting a button or flag that would allow users to nominate a photo or highlight it for consideration of the calendar review board? Monthly review of nominations or shortlist by vote without the need to pour through every thread to find candidates
