  1. Thanks for the replies, I'm going to have a look at prices of the Shine bumper.
  2. I spent 3 hours cleaning mine on Friday then drove it straight into my garage and put the cover on...I keep checking the bbc weather page and thinking i could get away with a few more weeks driving...my tax runs out at the end of the month then I'll just sorn until the weather dries out a bit which i guess won't be until March, if i'm remembering correctly April was a scorcher this year so fingers crossed for 2012. I do miss driving mine and its only been 4 days its just that after spending all that time cleaning it i really dont want it getting filthy again....I know I'm being a tart but i cant help it, i hate it dirty....the car that is.
  3. Morning, Following last months Essex drive out I've found myself taken with the N2 front bumper and have a couple of questions I'm hoping some may be able to answer for me. I have a 313 spec car which has the bonnet bulge and on looking at some pictures of the N2 bumper it looks like the bonnet grooves from the older style bonnet continue down into the N2 bumper, am i seeing things or are they all like that? is there one without the grooves as this would look odd on my car? What should i be looking at paying? can anyone suggest a few places to look? I really do not like the canards (think thats what they are called) things on the side of the bumper, are they optional? Do i really need to spend top money on an original one or are there good copies which are cheaper? if so does anyone know where i shpould be looking. Anyone got any idea on how much a reasonable body shop would charge to paint and fit? Thanks. Dean.

    my zed

Different isn't always good..... This forum does confuse me from time to time, it seems to me that you can criticise a car as long as the owner doesn't see it....regardless of the forum my view has always been that if someone is happy to post up pics then they are fair game for comment, good or bad...and why is there carbon wrap on the headlights?
  6. Whats the deal with the HR engine seeming to be making quite a few ponies less than the quoted 309bhp? as mentioned earlier in the thread i had a look through the garage at a few other HR cars and must admit was quite disapointed....I know it shouldn't matter and it's only numbers but I kind of does a little bit. what does 288bhp at the hubs equate too at the fly? had you had an uprev or just the cats and exhaust?
  7. I've spent some time investigating this myself and will have a similar budget for my 313, I'll be going for a miltek system, berks HFCs, cosworth panel filters and an uprev, I'm not expecting massive gains but what I do expect are much improved accoustics which is something i feel is lacking in the standard car...it needs to sound like a 3.5 litre V6...I suspect power will improve, if my car is running at the claimed 309bhp i guess i might reach 330bhp with those mods. 330bhp from a beautiful looking 3.5 litre V6 front engined rear wheel drive car and a matching sound track sounds like just what i'm after from my weekend toy Roll on the Xmas bonus.
  8. Does anyone know? It was sat in the meets section and i was hoping to see some of the pictures of the day being as me and my car were in attendance....surely it wasn't removed because of the minor mishap with the lovely porsche getting left behind at the start?
  9. As per the title, what mods have you got or have had that you most regret and why....no reason really just thought there might be a few interesting answers.
  10. I know I'll be on my own but i loved how it looked as standard....love the Rosso 313, i narrowly missed out on one just before i brought mine.
  11. What about a VX220 turbo? Great standard but throw a little bit of money at it and your looking at 250bhp in a car that weighs as must as a moist flannel. Was driving in this morning and thought to myself I should suggest a VX220T 0-60 in something like four and a half seconds, a very rapid and fun car. A mate of mine took his westfield up to a track a month or so ago and said he saw these things beating everything on the track Porsches the lot. The are rapid litte beggers, I could be wrong but I think 0-60 is in 4.7 on a standard car....and you can pick up a beaut for 12k, courtney sport have packages for over 300bhp and tourque to match...I could be tempted to have one of these in the garage as a weekend/track day toy with ease....i'm off to pistonheads for a look
  12. Couldn't agree more...i test drove a Zed and RX8 PZ back to back and can honestly say i've never been so dissapointed in a car....totally and utterly gutless, i wasn't expecting it to knock spots of the Zed but i was cetainly expecting more than it delivered, I pressed the loud peddle and after what seemed an eternity it made some progress but it was such a let down after the Zed. Check for full service history, i was lucky in that mine was a private sale but had just been serviced and had a 2 year extended warrenty so I've got no real worries....touch wood.
  13. Had mine for a just over a month now I think and was worried I'd miss a turbo.... (last 6 cars where tuned up turbos) and haven't so far surprisingly! enough torque from all gears for me and enough speed that feels safe to lose my license if I want! That was one of the things I was worried about too. Im used to my turbos and love the kick in the pants they give you when you floor it. But I had no need to worry as the zed certainly does throw you back in the seats! The thing for me is that sometimes it just doesn't give me a big buzz when pressing on due to the smooth delivery, i know the car is quick which is why i think the mods i mentioned earlier will add to the accoustics and help better convince my brain....as soon as cash flow allows I'll be miltek'd, berk'd and upreved up!!!
  14. What about a VX220 turbo? Great standard but throw a little bit of money at it and your looking at 250bhp in a car that weighs as must as a moist flannel.
  15. Good shout on the FD2....love those and so rare.
  16. I'll be 8 months into ownership on October 24th...to date i've had zero expenditure, I bought mine on a private sale with a 2 year extended nissan warranty and having only been serviced the month before i got I've got a couple of months until i need to open my wallet. Despite it being a third car I've still managed to rack up 6k, too often i've walked out in the morning with the intention of getting into my Focus oil burner only to convince myself i should take the Zed as winter is coming and I'll not be using it too much when it's wet and snowing. I went on a tunnel run through the streets of London a week into ownership which was fun and went on the Kent/Sussex drive out which i really enjoyed, plans for the future include: Performance: Milltek Berks HFCs Uprev Cosworth panel filters I feel i need some more grunt and some audio enhancement to fall 100% in love with the car. Cosmetics: Wheel refurbishment, one or two chips that most wouldn't notice but i want it perfect 3 teeny tiny dents that no one but me will know are there Front end respray thanks to too many stone chips I really wanted to get the performance mods done now but my wife got sick and 4 months later she still isn't back at work so until she is I just can't justify the expense, cosmetics are planned for early next year. Overall i'm really enjoying Zed ownership but i can't help but miss the whiz bang of a turbo...hopefully the performance mods will ease that just a little.
  17. Mrzed, that is one lovely looking car, looks box fresh.
  18. Sadly you don't see to mant well looked after R32s these days, but when you do they are very tempting. I quite like the blob eye litchfield fettled T20 and Spec C....super quick.
  19. The wife put an stop to me getting a Tommi...i think i need to part ex her to be honest....I've still got the itch and I'm sure I'll scratch it next time around but you right about the service intervals, 4500 is a bit mental however like my Zed it would be a third car so it would be racking up miles too much. TVR would be very nice and huge fun until service time, I've always lusted after a Cerbra....if i went fast ford I'd have to go Focus RS rather than ST....as much as i like them i think of them like the boxster in that it considered the poor mans 911.
  20. An Escort Cosworth has always been on my 'must own before i die' list.....but then i am from Essex so it is a legal requirement to own a fast ford at some stage in your car buying life.
  21. Same budget give or take a couple of quid. Otherwise hook me up with a 800bhp GTR!!!!!!
  22. I did the same...only my mind was changed for me by when my wife when had a look and decided she hated them
  23. If someone had a gun to your head and you had to lose the Zed in favour for another car, what would it be and why? I think I'd be torn between a 255 Clio V6 and an Evo Tommi Makkinen. Both are as rare as hens teeth, turn the heads of those in the know and by all accounts stunning drivers cars....and throw a few quid at the evo and your looking at some serious performance
