Good debate on Pistonheads regarding the Zed...
deank93 replied to mrobinson2's topic in 350Z General
I like pistonheads, been browsing the forum for years and only signed up a few weeks back so added my view....90% seem to love the 350 but I'm gob smacked there are people who don't think a car able to hit 100 in 13 seconds isn't quick....fools. -
I'm still lovin you car, the wheels and the bumper are spot on, the perfect example of less is more at it finest! whats the deal with the memorial...is it meant to be ironic?...only, to my mind a war memorial with a plane nose down in the ground seems a little insensitive
-
I spotted that an hour or so ago....it truely beggers belief that someone would actually spend money to make such a beautiful car look so horrific.
-
Thanks very much, i'll give them a call this afternoon.
-
Do you have a web address or contact number for DMS? I'm not having much luck googling them...
-
Excellent....I'm only 20 mins from the Dartford crossing so I'll make a few calls....thanks for that

Morning, I'm due my P3 and at the moment the cheapest solution seems to be to purchase all the service parts and find someone to do the service for me and stamp the book, Ideally I'd rather not go to Nissan or some back street indy type of garage who may never had worked on the Zed. Can anyone recommend a performance type garage somewhere? I'm near Basildon in Essex but don't mind a wee drive if required. Many thanks.

Evening all, My Zed went back on the road today after a couple of months under its cover tucked up in the garage (it was a few weeks earlier than planned thanks to writing off my daily runner yesterday ), MOT was sorted this morning with no agro and taxed online so I'm all legal again, next up at some point this month is a P3 service but I'd rather not pay micky take money for it so wanted to canvas opinion on the cheapest way to get it done. From a re sale point of view some less well educated would prefer to see main dealer history where are I imagine most on here, myself included, would rather a specialist history from somewhere that deals with this type of car on a more regular basis, but i wondered if there was a cheaper way of doing it, ie buying whatever parts are required from some of the trader chaps on here and simply taking it to a decent reputable garage for them to do there thing...possibly a silly question but can you even do that? How much should I expect to pay a specialist for a P3? What sort of a saving would that be over a main dealer as I have one literally 90 seconds drive from where i live so wanted to factor in the time and travel costs? What are the potential £ savings if i get the service items myself? Finally, can anyone suggest somewhere localish Basildon in Essex? Many thanks in advance.

Is it legal to drive a car with deployed air bags?
deank93 replied to deank93's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Thats for the info, I've decided to scrap it and start again.....I also liked the abuse For what it's worth I really wasn't driving to fast or to close, we were within the 40mph speed limit and i was paying attention, the pillock just stamped on the brakes as soon they went amber, the cars in the next lane that were level just sailed through as there was plenty of time until it would have gone to red....the other driver and his passenger were only kids and as much as i wanted to kick his teeth in he was a decent lad and was pretty shook up......poof. -
Afternoon all, I've just had a crash in my daily runner (tit in front of me slammed on the brakes for an amber light ) the windscreen is smashed and there is damage to the bumper, bonnet and driver side wing and although not driving very fast the air bags deployed on impact...as i'm third pary fire and theft I'm not covered for any of the damage or road side relay so as the engine was still running just fine with no leaks i tucked the bags in and drove the car home. I was thinking that although the car looks a bit battered if i replaced the screen it is still usable but I wondered if anyone could confirm if cutting the bags out and cracking on with it was legal?...i'm thinking not as i seem to recall reading somewhere that if a car was built with air bags it is illegal to drive it without them. Cheers, Dean.

I think when kiddies come along unless your rather flush you have to say goodbye to toys for occasional use, maybe i'm on my own but i couldn't in good conscience by an old hack to run my family around in on a daily basis and leave something like the zed tucked away in the garage...if only from a safety point of view I'd sell the zed and buy something that will keep my family far, far safer over an old runner in the event of an accident. If i was working on a 10k budget i'd be spending 8k on a decent family wagon and 2k on something like a pug track car for kicks.

friend of mine has a rallye brilliant little car! They are little fire crackers...I'm off to have a look on the rallye forum, sometimes there are some cracking project threads on there...may snoop in the for sale section too. As much as i love the Zed sometimes it does cross my mind to get something like a deisel BMW estate for work and the dogs and a clio or pug for cheap track day fun....i always used to love the old clio 16v cup racers and if you can find them for sale now they are very reasonable and don't take much to get them road legal to drive to and from your day at the track.

Theres a 500hp 205 GTI for sale on Pistonheads at the moment ......... That would keep me entertained no end.....of course, i would be dead very quickly.
-
In fact, all this has got me thinking about a phase 1/2 106 rallye with the 16v gti engine in it, stripped and ready for some track action again....cheap and bags of fun!
-
I'm a big Renault fan...I've had 2 Williams Clios and thay had fantastic engines, my second willy was a tatty daily runner with 170k on the clock, out of interest i stuck it on the rollers and it made 152bhp! The 182 and 200 clios are cracking motors too and I don't think anyone can be in any doubt that the Megane 250 and 265 is anything other than superb. My brother and pal both had a 106 rallye and those bad boys revved all day long, only 1.3 with 100bhp but so much fun and you couldn't help but ring their neck day in and day out. I nearly bought a phase 2 V6 over the Zed....to be honest if the wife hadn't had such a dislike for them I'd have one tucked up in the garage now....that said i'm chuffed I have the zed in there now.
-
Without....there is way too much going on at the front with them on....i think they cheapen the car.
-
Sounds like a good plan....you've reminded me that my insurance is up at the end of Feb too
-
Thought it might be interesting to see what everyone is planning on doing with/to their Zed this coming year....any road trips planned, track days, mods big or small, selling up and moving on? I'm planning on: Wheel refurb Repair two tiny dents and touch up one scratch on the bonnet Either repaint my standard front bumper or buy an N2 Berks Miltek Uprev.
-
Who are Falcon performance? I'd seen this conversion on TVRs but for some reason had never considered it on the Zed, what sort of costs are involved? I'm asuming they are big...what would be needed for a successful conversion, just the engine and gearbox?
-
Amazing views and roads, where abouts in Scotland are those shots from? I'd love to chuck the wife in the Zed with me and have a few days driving around there....just beautiful.
-
Like the actor Owen Wilsons face all the parts of it on there own are pretty horrible yet throw them all together and it works.....that is a proper sexy motor.
-
I guess it depends if you intend using the car on track, if thats your bag then you've already got plenty of options to explore....other wise you can get started on the exhaust/berks/uprev route.
-
Regardless of colour I'm not a fan...for me badges like that make any car look cheap...sorry.
-
I've got my P3 due any time soon, silly question but based on the above I'm assuming then that i can collect all the bits and bobs required and then just take them and the car to my local Nissan dealer and save a few quid over there p1ss take prices....
-
It was benzeds one that got me thinking about it, i kept looking at the pictures of the drive out and thought the N2 looked great. If its no agro I'd be interested in a price on spraying but I'm not in a position to do much about it this side of Christmas so realistically I'd be looking a Feb (Xmas bonus is paid out), Cheers.
