95ron fuel & engine malfunction light
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to samsniss350z's topic in 350Z Technical
the engine that failed had been run on unleaded prior to arriving with us @ Abbey, seems it had had been run hard while running unleaded fuel , the early cars the DE and Rev Up motors only have knock control to around 5100rpm By abbeymotorsport at 2012-09-10 the knock control when the car hears knock(detonation) reverts to a retarded ignition map this is reset when the ignition is turned off and back on. The ignition isn't long termed adjusted ( By this I mean it wont remove ignition timing and keep this amount removed from the map) Neil , do you have the new Haltech fully standalone ECU or the older Haltech that has to runt he stock ECU as piggy back? I thought only the newer Haltech had knock control? The 370Z does have better knock control but running unleaded will loose a lot more BHP than you think, the car is designed to run on 98 octane fuel running, the 370Z knock control is a better system than the 350 as the Gen 4 ECU is a lot more developed than the Gen 1_2 ECU (DE and Rev up) and the Gen 3 ECU (HR) it will adjust ignition timing all the time with regards knock but the car isn't multi-fuelled tuned like other modern cars. If I was going to run a 370Z on unleaded I would definitely have a few degrees timing pulled from the base ignition map so the car will tune to the unleaded fuel far quicker. The stock fuel map is very rich at full throttle so this isnt as much as a worry. Back the main question thou , the knock control wont flag a CEL on the Zeds I just think the car has flagged a fault while you been running unleaded, get the code read , seems as he car are getting older and the lambda'a re degrading we are seeing more CEL code for rear O2 lambd'a's -
Does that mean a jdm de 350z can have more If the car has cruise switches on the steering wheel yes. I thouhg JDM cars generally dont have cruise? If you got a steering wheel with cruise buttons on it is all the wiring ready at the back? Yes all the car have the wiring in the car looms we have founds , they will need are flash as strange it seems a car with cruise has a different ROM to a car with out cruise.
-
Eprom isn't removable from the ECU I am afraid, you could use a US or a JDM ECU with the corresponding Cruise control switch but your have to have the NATS turned off then to allow the car to run.

-
Afraid not UK de 350 Zeds can only have 1 map, the Eprom in these cars doesn't have enough capacity to take the whole Uprev patch that enables live tuning and multi maps.
-
UK DE 276bhp cars can't have multi maps I am afraid

Help. Please. One for CS, Jez, Abbey, Attkin666.
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to tez162003's topic in Brakes
Sounds like you still have air in the system , did you bleed 1 caliper @ a time? Modern cars you need to bleed a front and rear caliper at the same time as the brake system is split diagonal and to get the full movement on the brake pedal you need to open a front and rear caliper bleed nipple at the same time. Also when bleeding the brakes start with booth nipples open then once you getting no air from the outside nipple close this and carry on bleeding for a while then shut the inner nipple. You do need to use a bleed bottle with clear bleed pipes so you can see air bubbles in the fluid. -
We have a S/H set of HFC's , there where for a DE/REV UP car but have had the flanges changed to allow them to fit a HR, not been used on a F/I car. £150-00 inc vat + shipping. (these are S/H part so therefore are sold with no warranty)
-
We have removed a set of S/H HFC's from a HR engined 350Z , these where originally DE HFC's and we have converted to fit a HR car thou buy welding on HR flanges. Will get some pictures up shortly. £150-00 inc vat + postage. NO WARRANTY ON THESE S/H parts

Andy, thanks for the kind words, pleased your enjoying the car after the conversion. Mark -
not got a firm price yet, as we are still adding stuff; The UK DE cars will use the stock Wide band sensors , at the moment it may be we can only use 1 lambda sensor for closed loop control as the S6 only has 1 Lambda control , we can run 2 lambda's if we use the S8 Syvecs ECU thou; Or we can use 2 external lambda sensors to supply AFR into the ECU. any US or JDM car before 05 2005 will have to fit a wideband system to enable closed loop fueling as the earlier cars don't have 5 wire sensors fitted; We will be working on getting the S6 working on a HR soon as well. The traction control on the Syvecs is so awesome.

Ryan and Abbey did a lot of work on the set up last week on our in house dyno. ( Jez has had input into the base set up as well) Ryan had the knowledge on the Syvecs and we had the knowledge on the VQ , we had all the cam maps and ignition maps all ready built from the time we have been tuning the VQ's , I have tuned over 150 278bhp 350Z's on our dyno with Uprev software and this includes a few twin turbo cars and a lot of Supercharged cars. The cars I have removed the Unichip and Split second boxes from and re-tuned the stock ECU have all driven and made better power only negative items from that is the stock ECU cant have boost control. The Syvecs will allow boost control and a number of different calibrations via a CAL switch if you want. Hope to have the ECU back with me soon after Syvecs are updating some firmware and wiring on the prototype ECU.

Turbo build on a 350Z @ Abbey Motorsport
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to Mark@Abbey m/s's topic in Abbey Motorsport
next week I hope , last kit supplied to the UK thou , no more stock in Japan either. -
It will be interesting to see what unit is it and who the tuner is It is Syvecs S6 ECU , both us @ Abbey and Jez @ Horsham Developments have had input into the development , just waiting for some more updates. Was giving good number son my totally stock UK 276bhp last week.
-
We aren't far from being able to supply a stand alone ECU, that allows the stock ECU to be removed , new ECU will only lose the cruise control but will gain a huge amount of other tunable/tweakable items. Everything else will work like a stock car.

HKS single kit. comes with heat shields all included, sadly the kit is no longer made. -
sneak preview of a turbo build in the Abbey workshop. Stock Motor so will be low boost but should have an awesome flat torque curve. By abbeymotorsport at 2012-08-30

Abbey Motorsport take a trip to Silverstone.
Mark@Abbey m/s replied to Mark@Abbey m/s's topic in Abbey Motorsport
thanks guys , I didn't get there till 9PM on the Friday night left at 11pm it was only generic reflash's we uploaded. Seeing 7 cars was pretty awesome thou. -
Abbey Motorsport got a phone call from RJN motorsport's http://uk.playstation.com/home/events/d ... T-Academy/ > Abbey having being tuning the RJN race cars with Uprev for over 2 years. The car where going into limp mode due to heat soak after pit stops even thought hey had large oil coolers fitted and Bob from RJN knew Abbey had a fix using the Uprev software , so it was a last minute deal , just so happened Abbey where at Santa Pod that weekend so Mark went to Silverstone to flash these car’s on the way to Santa Pod. 6 cars where flashed on the Friday night but they had 1 car that the Rom wasn’t supported but we just dumped the ECU and with the time difference Uprev Patched the ROM for me that night and after the meeting on the Saturday I returned to Silverstone to flash the 7 and last car. Cars are going great now no heat soak issues. Abbey Motorsport, Uprev,Nissan and Sony all working together.
