my first guess would be water ingress in the harness. possibly caused by rubbing somewhere. car heats up, harness dries out a bit, problems can go away temporarily.

There appear to be 5 fuses attached to the + terminal (4 underneath and 1 just on the top right) all appear fine. I'll check the ones in the engine bay a little later as have to go out. Hate to say this, but where are the fuses inside the car mentioned above? something HAS to be a fuse! do not under any circumstances use anything but the correct rated fuse. disregarding this will potentially leave you with a burned out heap in your drive and no insurance pay out.

puddles i can do for you no problem indicators would be a bit harder.

all automotive manufacturers "should" design to protect against user error when connecting chargers etc. but then ive seen nissans design be a bit sloppy before. also the charger should have some protection aswell i would hope. i wouldnt think you've done anything to damage the car but the battery may be damaged.

youd need to remove the sub woofer metal thats there in bose or not but thats no problem, once youve done that theres loads of room

you could probably beef up the cover brackets with aluminuim and put a hidden latch on which would keep your mind at ease if you went really far you could make a new cover that pivoted about the centre allowing you to flip the amp in or out the cubby, would take quite a bit of work and be more a show car thing though. also need to work out how to route the cables at the same time.
