  1. I drive over 600 miles on my weekly commute, so I sold my 370 and bought a 350 roadster and a Saab 93 1.9TDi last year to use for work. Done over 130k miles in the Saab now and getting a few wee clunks and clanks when go over uneven road, probably just needs bushes renewed etc but feel it's time to get another diesel. So looking to spend between £4.5k-£5k or a decent diesel car which I need to do over 30k miles per year in so needs to be very reliable and want a bit of poke, as a lot of my commute is on a country road and need to overtake lorries etc The Saab has 150bhp and is decent enough, so wouldn't want anything slower than that. Next requirement is preferably have under 90k miles so I can look to have car for 2 years, take it up to around 150k then trade it in. First things I have looked at were Lexus IS 220d's, that's right on the budget, but have seen one in mid 80k miles inside my budget. Next one looked briefly at was a Mondeo, the new shape, around 07-08 plates. As I get my diesel for nothing, I wouldn't mind getting something with a bigger engine, thought maybe a big A8 or BMW 530, slightly older and maybe a bit more miles to get within budget but that's maybe aiming a bit high. So just wondering if anyone can think of something I haven't thought of?
  2. Not been on here for ages so can't remember if I posted my gamertag which is maxi1969 Not played too much of Forza, just a few career races and not tried multiplayer yet, I got stuck into Ryse till I completed that and now I have completed Battlefield 4 so time to dedicate to Forza.... So is there a club setup and if so how do I join? Are you having races on specific nights or is it just a case of whenever people are online?
  3. Can add my gamertag maxi1969 That's me completed Ryse so time to move onto Forza, had a quick blast at Battlefield 4 but got wiped out early on so moved onto Ryse pretty quickly At least there will be one guy getting lapped when we do organise some races
  4. When do you think stores will receive their allocation, I have my preorder with PC World and went in yesterday to ask if they know how many they are getting yet, guy behind counter says they are sold out, I say i have a preorder so just wondering how many consoles they expect as then ill know for sure if im getting it on launch day or not, to which he replied we dont know yet, you will get phone call couple of days before if successful... WTF, so if you dont know your allocation why tell me they are sold out. People that work in these stores should be lined up and punched
  5. Went into Game at weekend and asked young guy on shop floor about the new facility that if you pay in full 2 days early your guaranteed the X1 for launch, he went and asked manager and said that is only available for pre-orders, so I asked if I go pay for a pre-order will I be able to do it and he said yes. So I strolls up to the counter and says the same thing, guy doesn't know what I am talking about so goes and speaks to manager, comes out and says it's only available for phase one pre-orders only, so I replied isn't that a bit pointless since phase one pre-orders should have been guaranteed for launch day only and was only met with a shrug of the shoulders. So i walked out very unhappy at the service level. Thought I would try PC World as surely Know How must be one of the biggest retailers in the UK now with the demise of Comet, finally got the guy who specialises on consoles and he said they have been told not to guarantee for launch day but let me know that he looked at the book that morning and they only had 6 pre-orders already booked. As they are a massive customer of Microsoft he reckoned they would get a very large consignment of X1s, so I pre-ordered with them, when he was processing it he said it was still showing availability of Day One consoles so happy days. Only downside is I need to wait till 8am on the 22nd rather than a midnight launch. So that's the day off booked
  6. Is that a typo as don't know what doe stores are?
  7. I had put off pre-ordering an Xbox One as I was due to travel abroad in early November so couldn't justify cost of holiday and console, but had to cancel trip last week so thought I would get the One after all. Went into game and asked young lad on the floor if you can still pre-order for launch day, he says yes, so went to counter and offered my £20 only to be told they can only guarantee delivery before Christmas!!!! So now I am stuck in limbo without a launch day console, does anyone know any chain still taking orders for launch day? I have read that Microsoft were not releasing more consoles for pre-order only due to wanting to have consoles in the stores so people can walk in and buy them rather than purely pre-orders but this makes no sense. Why would you leave stock in stores if you could sell all your first allocation upfront??
  8. Beautiful looking car, so love the GTR and in red it looks even better. I can't see past the standard wheels though, maybe the new wheels would look a lot better if they were shiny rather than a matte finish, matte black on the wheels make them actually look dirty all the time and in need of a good clean.
  9. It's disgusting what these companies get away with, it's just like all these webuyanycar type companies sprouting up. When I had trouble selling my 370Z I tried a few of them and two of them came back with close to what I was looking to sell for, at least £2,500 more than webuyanycar. Just before I went ahead I happened to type their name into google and found reviews of these companies and I'm glad I did, one of them don't clear the funds to you until 4 days after they take your car away, another will send an inspector out, if he finds anything you failed to declare he will make a counter offer, now this can be thousands lower than they originally offered and if you turn it down you need to pay an admin fee of £75!!!!! If you fail to read the terms and conditions properly you can get truly humped.
  10. I couldn't believe at start of the clip when there must have been 5 or 6 cops all pointing their guns at her that they allowed her to drive off nearly knocking a few of them down. Why didn't they just end it right there and then?
  11. From some angles it reminds me of the newest Lotus, is it the Avora or something like that??
  12. Main reason I sold the 370 was due to me spending £180 a week on petrol for my commute to work. I bought a shed Saab diesel and a 350 roadster for weekends when it's nice and now spending at most £80 a week on diesel.
  13. A few years ago I bought a set of GT4 wheels off a member on here and they had the Avons, have never looked back since. Never lost traction even though pushing it on a bit, albeit I don't drive to extremes, and very good price compared the premium tyres. Fortunately when I bought my Roadster the lady had brand new Z33's installed all round, and grip is superb round my daily commute country roads.
  14. Don't know if this is a repost but just read this on the BBC Technology section:- http://www.bbc.co.uk...nology-23964797 A smartwatch that monitors the performance of a vehicle as well as the driver has been launched by car manufacturer Nissan. Just like a traditional smartwatch, the Nissan Nismo measures the user's heart rate, temperature and other biometrics. But it also allows users to keep an eye on their car's performance - including average speeds and fuel consumption. Experts say that the watch could be an important step towards greater connectivity in cars. "Connectivity is the new battleground for car manufacturers," said Chas Hallett, editor-in-chief of What Car? "In-car internet is coming and now with consumer electronics focusing on watch-based connections, Nissan is getting ahead of the game and joining the two together very cleverly." The Nismo watch can be connected to the car's on-board computer system to allow users to monitor vehicle telematics and performance data. Users can also receive tailored messages from Nissan via the gadget. It was unveiled ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show, which runs until 22 September. A glut of smartwatches has hit the market recently, including Samsung's Galaxy Gear and Sony's Smartwatch 2. Car-connected watches could be even more useful than those offered by consumer electronic firms, thinks Mr Hallett. "Imagine if you could heat up your car on a cold day before you got into it or shut the roof of your convertible when it started raining and it was parked outside," he said. The Nissan Leaf electric car already allows users to interact with it via their mobile phone, said Mr Dunsmore, and such functionality should be available in the firm's next-generation watches. The current gadget is one of the first products to come out of its Nismo laboratory, which captures live biometric and telematics data from Nissan racing cars and their drivers. The lab plans to use electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG) in the future to capture a range of heart and brainwave data. The eventual aim would be to create wearable technology for drivers that can spot fatigue, monitor drivers' levels of concentration and emotions and record hydration levels. The Nismo, which comes in three colours and has a battery life of around a week, can be controlled by two buttons on the screen.
  15. So why don't you get a multicar quote, should never be as much as that to insure a second car, I only pay £300 for my roadster zed due to it being a second car.
  16. Actually read a scientific report put together in the US where it is legal to use a mobile phone and they concluded that there is no link between an increase in road accidents and use of a mobile phone. This was only published last week, but it won't make big news will it, as it doesn't suit the ministry of making more money out of motorists. There are a million and one things to distract a driver, stereo, sat nav, using rear view mirror, looking at the scenery etc etc It is more distracting if your texting on your phone while driving than actually talking, at least if you were talking you are looking at the road and not your handset..
  17. That's about what I pay with esure on my 350 roadster and having 7 penalty points so I thought it was a good price.
  18. After watching the 4x4 video this was one of the little videos linked. Do you think the cop is a bit excessive?? I reckon he will have a big lawsuit coming
  19. I would say it's a bit expensive, I just bought an 05 Roadster with around same miles for exact same price.
  20. I never experienced tramlining on my 370 once. And that was even with me having done 30k, and still having the original bridgestones on the front and Falkens on the rear when they needed replacing about 15k mark. Never experienced any kind of movement no matter how hard I drove it, and I was doing a 115 mile round trip commute every day with half that trip on a twisty A road which was a dream for the 370. Exhaust is pathetic on the standard car, whatever were Nissan thinking. I had a custom made exhaust put on for £400 and would put a smile on your face every time you used that right foot, never had Syncrorev disabled because of it I am now back in a 350 roadster, only for weekend use and the difference is like night and day, the 350 is completely raw in feel and sound, although mines has a great HKS exhaust which really growls. Clyde tunnel is almost worn out with me going back and forward But the 370 is a million times better in every department, from cockpit, to handling. Only area it gets let down is the exhaust from standard, as even the 350 standard is good sounding.
  21. GOOD LORD! i want a roadster! jeezas amaze BALLS Thanks, it got a LOT of attention during the drive to Italy via Switzerland. What kit have you fitted? And do all kits fit the 313 models as well as -06 models?
  22. I bought a set of GT4 alloys off Bennett a few years ago and they came with Avon's and Ive never looked back. Never had any experience of grip being lost and I really push it round the twisty country roads. I was getting the fronts for roughly £117 a corner so very good price as well.
  23. If your doing the legal limit of 30 approaching a traffic light and your 20 feet away and it turns amber, would you stop? Since the highway code states the stopping distance at 30mph is 75 feet that would seem to be safe
  24. On a somewhat related question, at what point are you regarded as going thru a red light, by that I mean if it's amber when you cross the white line could you ever be done for going thru a red light if it then goes red as your full car is going over the white line? Just trying to find out where it starts and ends?
  25. In my case I insured my 06 plate Saab 93 1.9TDI diesel for something like £340 for the year with roughly 10 years no claims and I am 44. I bought the 350Z 05 plate Roadster and said I would only drive 5000 miles per year and they added it on a multicar policy with esure for roughly the same price of £340 a year. I was actually surprised because when I had phoned previously when I was thinking about it I am sure they said my 350Z would cost over £500 And I have two driving convictions, one an SP30 and one an SP50 gained in the last 2 years.
