  1. The crossfire SRT is properly quick... They are poor quality.. but for the money.. probably good value. As for Fiat 20vt .. i always had a soft spot for them, my wife was close to buying a new one back in 95/96 but was put off by the a55hole main dealers in Stockport and a few less than trustworthy reviews in the car press so bought a Pug 305 gti-6.. which was a decent motor if less exotic than the 20vt..
  2. Hmmmm On the positive - The car looks quite good, has a good engine note, is no slouch and comes withe every extra for about the same price as a ford focus lx (kidding.. slightly more but not when 12mths old !!! ) But the scales are tipped in the other direction... on the negative side on eth Joy of Chrysler ownership..... It is the first time in engineering that any company has managed to combine yoghurt pots, tupperware, formica roll on wood, a collection of leftover 1970's chrysler bin parts.. a floored 1990 Merc chassis, 55p worth of USA road wallow spec suspension (that bad it feels like a 1970's leaf springed ford 'tina), An "old school" merc block that isn't too bad if a bit agricultural, alloys made of recycled 4the grade materials that oxidise the minute the showroom wax wears off, pointless cuts and gouges from the bodywork, sit up and beg dashboard, MFi clip together build quality.. (yes much worse than the 350's), switchgear that looks like it is off a £12 beko portable stereo etc etc etc .. i could go on but i won't.. but.. you know what.. i REALLY hate to admit this but.. i like it.. all the above said and all the known issues... i do like the Chrysler SRT's.. the crossfire SRT is rapid and V V cheap.. and the black 300c SRT estate with blacked out windows, wheels and grill was menacing looking... it cornered like the USS nimitz, used so much petrol i was convinced that someone had cut the fuel line but it was still strangely appealing....
  3. Chav... it's not about having no money... it's about having no taste... They are just tasteless..... sorta thing you'd see in dubai... or the Liberace museum... all they need is "homey" hydraulics and tv's where the luggage storage is .. + maybe a saddo 52 year old UK DJ going "u bin pimped homes" in the background .. oh and some Diamond encrusted Dub rims wiv dem spinners..... they should be slapped senseless...
  4. The zed is a deceptively fast car... acceleration feels sorta sluggish.. then you look at the speedo and realise you are actually going pretty quickly.. High seating position feels like it hides a lot .. It's not bang or bust quick like a BM M car or a scooby wrx sti where it feels like you are being forced down the crease at the back of the seat from 800 revs up... but it is rapid.. I have driven a 2004 rx8 (the 220 ish bhp one) and to be honest it felt gutless.. no torque.. unless it was screaming like a stabbed hoodie.. then it felt quick.. but hard work and it, like you said, seemed to hit the drink like David Hasslehoff in an Airport.. I seemed to spend all my time compensating for no torque by fishing round the gearbox and pushing the loud pedal through the floor.... I have a 2007 facelift and had an "acceleration test" Ahem.. against a mate in a stock 2004 wrx scooby (the dog ugly one) ..... it got away up to about 70 (probably got 5 car lengths on me) then it seemed more or less the same up to an undisclosed speed .. word of warning though.. the 20 quid = 80 miles.. hmmm.. i get an average of about 25 during normal sane times of work and back.. but when i hit the loud pedal too much i have run my average down to sub 20.... reckon that would equate to - at 20mpg - 4.55 litres = 1 gallon... 1 litre - 1.01gbp (4.60gbp per gallon)... so 20 quid = 4.35 gallons.. at 20 to a gallon = 87 miles at 25 mpg 4.55 litres = 1 gallon... 1 litre - 1.01gbp (4.60gbp per gallon)... so 20 quid = 4.35 gallons.. at 25 to a gallon = 109 miles So whilst not fantastic.. better than the Rex.. In my opinion.... A few things better in the Rex - 4 seats... if you need em.. The upgraded stereo.. s'nice.. interior trim quality is about twice as good in the Rex the driving position A few things better in the Zed - the sound the handling (it feels more planted than the rex) the oil consumption the fuel economy the ease of use... i found the rex hard work.. even just for the hour or so i borrowed one the rarity.. i see lots more rex's around and about than zeds.. You should go give one a blast... if you do . you'll buy it.... i did and i like it...
  5. You have my deepest and sincerest sympathy. I lost my mum at 44 and my dad at 51 to cancer, various organisations helped including Christies and McMillan nurses.. they are all saints. This is a good call, i just donated. And big up the traders, top people one and all that have partaken.
  6. They look spot on.. I like them a lot. especially suit your colour
  7. Sorry mate.. I think if you borrow xxk gbp you should repay at least xxk gbp, not less.. i am pretty sure the govt. aren't borrowing from the money markets at - 0.4%.. (especially now that our countries credit rating will potentially drop from AAA to AA) Also by reducing the 2+ million student loans below 0% would have a detrimental effect on our already fecked economy.... I agree with the "it should not fall below 0%" line which is, to me and probably every person without a student loan, perfectly sensible and acceptable. Not sure how my tax paying part of your student loan would be a valid use of my hard earned... i repaid my loan, all of it + correct interest rate at the time and am happy it was appropriate and necessary. Your "issue" would only lead to either - Increased govt. borrowing to make up the negative payment for 2.some million student loans = bad which in turn leads to more chance our UK credit rating will drop to AA.. so the countries cost to borrow money increases on the money markets.. which means we will ultimately have to pay higher tax and Ni to cover this.. The change to AA from AAA puts our whole debt burden up and increases UK PLC's yearly interest burden.. I think the above is not beyond the understanding of most students.... i would rather see the money used to pay for something useful.. like MP's expenses I agree.. the govt. bend us over quite regularly as did the previous flavour.. but.. sorry .. i don't think this is a bending over at all.. just sensible legislation. (for a change)
  8. Sorry to hear that, my appointment went to plan but i suppose it varies depending on the specific person they send.
  9. Hi. I used event tyres for my re040's and they were the cheapest and came to me to fit.. they balanced them well.. only thing they don't do is tracking.. I would definately recommend event tyres in the Manchester area.. V.Good.. and they fitted my spacers whilst changing the tyres.. The guy knew his stuff..
  10. That looks the puppies privates.. V.Jealous. I've seen a "supra" (i think it was.. could've been a soarer or a skyline) on a forum somewhere (could i be more vague....) maybe .. with a full rising sun vinyl on in starting font RH corner then accross the whole car.. it looked banzai !!!
  11. I've seen an 80's capri track car... it was a beast, highly tuned 2.8i v6 with major weight reduction, i.e. all the interior had left was 1 seat, dials, a stering wheel, door handles, and an ignition start / cutoff and light switches.. it also had a cage, competition fuel tank, a decent brake conversion , upgraded wheel / tyre combo and some trick suspension upgrades.. oh yeah..and the funniest mod i have ever seen - about 80kilos of concrete in the back where the spare wheel was supposed to be... it was quick and looked controllable. It turned up at an open trackday at Oulton.. it embaressed a lot of expensive metal and the geezer driving it was good... I reckon it was worth a lot more than a bag of sand though.. the cage and fuel tank alone would have been about that much! I'd settle for one as a fun drifting car .. ok maybe not the jaffa orange 79 'tina mk4.. that is asking for it really...
  12. Ok.. leftfield and gutless... but tuneable.. possibly will only ever be worth more than you pay as well.. and you can get the backend out by just looking at these - 1983 ford capri 1.6 laser - One on autotrader at 995quid... ! 1979 2.0ghia mk4 ford cortina (manual) in bright orange.. looks ok .. 500 quid ! Especially the orange 'tina.. class.. pure class..
  13. Whoa... GTR look.. i'm convinced... Well i say convinced i actualy mean horrfied Front end looks like some 10k americano pontiac crappo - http://www.carstyling.ru/resources/concept/94pontiac_sunfire_1.jpg well.. 10k.. probably about 3k the minute you get the pink slip and the back looks like - http://www.sillyjokes.co.uk/images/p-jokes/toilet/round-turd.jpg Only i prefer the plastic turd.. at least it has the correct description which is actually what those bumpers should be listed under on fleabay.... All it needs is lasers and the buck rogers theme tune.... i'd rather douse my car in 98ron and torch it ..
  14. I missed one artist of my list - Tricky Class....
  15. Top job ! You need to name the company.. plenty of people always ask about refurbing and it is hard to get a good job.. the people you used did a top notch job.. worth plugging them
  16. i like the prodigy for spirited driving... any prodigy song generally will do but serial thriller is my fave.. or aphex twin - window licker and come to daddy.. old, strange and catchy tunes. (they have two of the bizarrest videos i've ever seen) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Az_7U0-cK0 Still like old school .. cypress hill makes me smile when driving as does papa roach and linkin park Or if chilled mode... well come to think of it.. don't think i have a favourite chilled.. maybe william orbit - Adagio for strings - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRqndwCqa5g&feature=PlayList&p=22EB6E0F69307A97&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=5 Or Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death Would also go with massive attack unfinished sympathy, angel and protection..
  17. Whoa... all it needs is a retractable jack hammer and chainsaw and it is all the tools you'll ever need... i'd hate to meet the bloke with that hung from his tool belt...
  18. Nice Evo.. they are a proper "stealth" motor.. they don't have the image problem of the scoobies ! Loving the colour and wheel combo..
  19. Hi Rosco600 and welcome.. You'll get lots of good info from the guys and girls on this forum, car and non car related ! Chilli red is a great colour.. as for gt ~vs~ non gt.. i would say GT is less important if you are going to mod and replace wheels / audio / satnav .. Brembo's are good though.. saved me a few times ! I like the type r's, they are a sorted little package.. i drove a new one about a year ago and it got me smiling.. i also love the integra type r's (h5) .. they have a different rear suspension setup from the civic's and handle a bit better on the limit.. If you've never had a rear wheel drive and have got used to "spirited" driving in the type R then you are in for a laugh !! Welcome manc350z.

  21. OK.. i'm sure we've all had them.. been really looking forward to test driving a car then drove and thought "well that was a let down". I have had a few, please add yours.. i could do with a laugh.. so the first few are mainly written in a sarcastic style ! 1989 golf gti - hahahahahaha... noooo ... really... . what, this is a GTi... can you check only it feels like a 1.4l.. and the interior looks like one... Alfa Brera 3.2 q4 - fab looking.. but stupid to drive and had a drink problem... also made me think i might as well burn my cash as this had the potential to get through cash faster than a 3rd world dictator..... Saab 9-3 aero "hot" - what.. it has a turbo.. is it actually spinning only this thing feels like a ford transit under acceleration Audi a4 cabriolet 1.8t - WTF... is this thing running only i pressed the go pedal and it just wouldn't.. it is heavier than france with all the acceleration of glaciel drift. BMW x5 4.8is - whoa.. where do that 20 quid go.. i only put it in 22 miles ago.... so .. reason for posting this is i have a new one we test drove today for my wife which i need to add to the above .. Audi s6 - 2008, 08 plate - v10 petrol... Readers digest version of the test drive - It is .. well... dull.. no more fun or better to drive than the A6 3.0 quattro.. which is duller than milton keynes... It has body control issues and is a numb car to drive.. i understand the 2.0, 2.7, 3.0 feeling dull and "salesman" like as that is what they were designed for.. but i expected the S6 to be different, more edgy, like an M5 is compared to a 520d repspec and it just isn't... the M5 pulls the audi's pants down in all areas apart from internal opulence... the m5 is functional inside wheras the audi is a mix between bling and gin palace.. actually looked a bit liberace .... Tell me yours !!!
  22. you need to install and leave it running for a few hours as it will run internal optimisation and actually get a little more efficient.. it should be considerably faster and more stable than vista on the same platform . I quite like w7 as a business laptop user OS , vista was poo... this is basically vista R2.. October 23rd is supposed to be full boxed ship date... still more tweaks yet to the RC version...
  23. It's 100% the best £ for £ BHP gain the 350 can get (unless you replace the ecu / piggybak) well i for one am convinced.....
  24. needs spacers and lowering.... then burning crushing and scrapping... and the owner slapping.... if you want crappo car fun go see barryboys.co.uk
  25. i gagged liek a cat with a fur ball and was sick a little in my mouth when i saw that 300c .. some questions... was it built in the dark.. why doesn't the roof fit at the windscreen pillar.. did stevie wonder pass the drawings... did somebody actually pay to have that done.. aren't 300c's crappy enough quality without nearly fitting a soft top.. aren't only fascist dictators supposed to have 4 door convertibles... does the roof swell up like a bloated baloon on the motorway due to the approximate nature of the cloth top fitmet.. was it "coachbuilt" by the same autistic that did the mini metro and rover 200 series convertibles ? i would love to see what bit of the car survived after a roll-over.. my money would be on only the the carpet being salvageable.... and that would need quite some cleaning before re-use..... there are more questions.. main one being.. why ?
