  1. Hi.. We manage multiple R/3 ERP, SCM and BW installations on Unix, Windows and Solaris .. we have learned over the last few years that clock goes forward = ok...let it roll even clusters can deal with it... But.. clocks go back = bad... recently we had to deal with a customer in Melbourne Au. as AU had changed the date from 26th to 12th for their clock changes we had a spate of mad patching to change the systems auto update parameters.... We have ended up with an operational process for stopping the systems for an hour either side of the clock changes..... which seems to allow a clean startup.. good luck..
  2. OK.. Update to my problems (opportunities) Bluetooth - Not bluetooth at all... failed Microphone, new one on order. Apparently the car must have a different microphone for voice command input than it does for phone conversation.... ??? Clutch - Noise just "vanished" after a trip to the dealers.. they came for a drive .. took it in the workshop for a while, brought it back and said "can't find anything serious apart from a noisy bearing which is too minor to need attention.. " they could hear something on a test drive otherwise they wouldn't have taken it in for a check.. either way they fiddled, noise has gone and the bite point is ok.. or maybe i have just got used to the bite point ! Either way is good for me.. Alloys - I am being WAY too picky.. i'm gonna leave them for a while to see if the very minor bubble gets bigger.. or i will leave it untill the next service is due and get them sorted then. Top and bottom is i am now 1 month in and loving it ! Will post some pics once i get the scuffed wheel arch sorted later this week..
  3. Folks.. Due to wanting, (i use the term loosely), to carry one of my young kids in the 350 i need to make a safety mod... i want to disable the passenger airbags + ,(if it has one), the seat belt pre-tensioner rig . I know that there is no magic switch or key combo as the car was Japan manufactured (all sunderland nissan cars apparently have airbag cut out switches ???)... Last car i owned that could not switch it's pass. airbags off was a BMW z3mcoupe back in '99 .. For like 120 quid to the main stealer they swapped the seat belt, pre-tensioner, pulled all the passenger airbag connections and then cleared the fault light so that the dash lights went off... I had to sign a waiver clearing BMW of any blame should a passenger die because the airbags did not fire.. nice Anyone had Nissan do this ?? Any help appreciated
  4. Shiny black 04 plater.. first other zed i've seen on the road in the month since i got mine...
  5. I agree with the honda customer service statement.. my sife had a cr-v a few years ago and service was excellent .. every time ethe car was in they gave us a decent spec either civic or on a couple of occasions an HR-v .. My 350 went into the local dealer for some work earlier this week and i got a QashQai 2.5 d 7 seater.. it was pretty good... it is going back next week to be finished and they are lending me a murano.. i quite like them.. Decent small car of choice would either be the civic (excellent quality and a good drive) or the new fiesta as it seems to be a good little car and they look quite roomy..
  6. Hi.. I am a newbie here but i ran a 2006 z4m coupe from new for 2 years but had to change cars due to a job change + the BMW select 2yr was up and at that price for return i had there was no way i was going to keep it. so about a month ago I got myself an 07 coupe in gt spec with 5k miles which i am very pleased with.. i love 2 seat 6cyl rwd coupes so getting the 350 was a no brainer.. i tried an alfa brera 3.2q4 as well but it felt slow + i don't trust alfa's .... In comparison to the z4m coupe i would say - Z4mcoupe is much faster accross all rev ranges .. the gearing in the z4m was longer through the top of 3rd gear 100+ .. speed wise it was especially rapid up to 100 and at the top end the z4m keeps going whereas the 350 seems to run out of steam... Handling wise the z4m was sharper and had a lot more mechanical grip than the 350z especially in the wet... but if you got it wrong it was a proper handful to get straight.. it loved understeer with the stock ex factory continental tyres.. Brakes - the z4m had really very good brakes almost impossible to get them to fade in normal use and that self drying isn't a gizzmo.. the brakes were always spot on in even in torrential rain. The 350z brembo's are really very good but seem to need more pedal force .. still stops realy well. Suspension is more relaxed in the 350, it rides bad roads better and you don't feel as battered and bruised when you have had a long bumpy drive... the z4m wants to skip you all over the road on an uneven surface and any bumps are trying to smash your spine.... Fuel economy on the z4m gave me 24.9 over 26k miles .. i am getting 25.1 from the z so not much difference there... Insurance.. hmmmm... 990 for the z4m, 527 for the 350z.. bargain Repair bills... first z4m service was 175, second z4m service + brake fluid change was.. are you sat down..... 778... from what i see on here the 350Z is much cheeaper to maintian ! Tyre wear on the mcoupe was a problem.. i got through two sets of tyres in two years at 1000 a set.. so pretty nasty really.. not sure what the tyres will cost me for the 350z but they are not z rated so must be cheaper. Interior quality.. neither car is made of the best materials .. both rattle.. the 350 is more comfortable but you seemed to be part of the z4m, the ergonomics of armrests, seat position and the height + reach adjustable steering meant it was easy to get a very good driving position. depreciation... hmm.. bad on the z4m if you bought it.. good if you were an early adopter of the car with the BMW select agreement.. woudl i get another on select.. no .. they have worked out the depreciation now and the monthly prices have gone up... Carrying anything in the boot of the 350z is not so good.. the z4m was better but again compromised. Everyday use i think the 350z no hesitation.... on the right day with the right road the z4mcoupe ... financial sanity the 350z... ability to keep your licence the 350z.. rarity value the z4mcoupe but not by much... on the looks front both are pretty ugly in their own ways which makes them attractive... if you get what i mean... Practicality.. the z4mcoupe... i could de-activate the passenger airbags and carry one of my kids... i can't do that in the 350 whcih will be a problem... I also drove a specced up z4 3.0s coupe and i have to say it was a better day to day drive than the mcoupe, very rapid and better suspension.. the fact i bought a 350z speaks a lot though as i could have got a 30.s coupe for a couple of grand more but didn't... also the coupe over the roadster every day.. i drove a z4m roadster and preferred the handling of the coupe... for the money the 350z is a bargain...
  7. Hi. I'm new here.. been reading for the last week or so and driving my new Z.. i have posted an intro message and i have a few questions that i thought i might get some advise from you guys on. .. after reading and searching i wanted some opinions on my cars problems from the community ! I am new to Nissan ownership.. have been admiring the 350z's since they were launched .. so after i stopped admiring them I bought an 07 plate 313 gt in blade silver, 5k miles from a dealer in stockport, Manchester a week ago.. I have run 650 miles so far and am Very Very pleased with the car . It is going back shortly to have some paint done.. (the day i was picking it up some muppett had scraped down the rear wheel arch portion of the bumper, dealer was v helpful and pi55ed it happened so said to book it in to have paint done and any other issues sorted after i have run it for a week or two). My issues Bluetooth - Acquires phone, accepts voice commands, dials numbers then when person i call answers they get no sound at all, like i have a muted microphone at my end..... Dealer stole another BT unit and fitted it on collection day, no change.. i tried 5 different phones since, an SE k850i, an SE 610, an N80 Nokia, an N60 Nokia and a LG shine, all produced same issue. Clutch - Ok, it has the noisy bearing problem and i have had that on BMW's before.. also has the rattle rattle when you tun the engine off with the clutch lifted from the transmission after it has had some beans... but i have some bad transmission noise when i pull off.. you can hear it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd but hard to tell in 4th (too much other noise !).. the noise sounds like metal on metal grinding.. imagine scraping 2 worn steel brake disks together without too much pressure forcing them together and you have the sound... it is not brake related because only happens when gears are engaged, if you are driving along and dip the clutch it goes... gear change is good and smooth, there is no clutch slip but the noise is .. well.. just wrong !!! i also get some juddering pulling off and what i would call a tricky biting point.... oh and some occsional burning clutch smells which i can't say only occur during specific driving habits..... Rays alloys - Car has the Rays fitted and after reading the forum and stories of wheel corrosion i went and had a much closer look at mine... the wheels are unmarked, no curbing at all but 2 of them have corrosion starting where the alloy legs meet the rim.. .. do you think this is something Nissan warranty covers ? And my general obeservations - i love the way the car rides, you get little rebound from the suspension, it feels really well planted for it's weight, the chassis feels really rigid and the brembo brakes work well.... bad points.. the traction control interferes too much (easy to fix that though) and the engine noise is fab .. but a bit muted (also easy to fix) ! Basically i love it ! So.. any advice appreciated b4 i visit the dealers ! Cheers David
