Reminds me of a story my dad has from working in sales in Saudi Arabia, he used to sell fork lifts, cranes, tipper trucks etc. Not the usuall stuff, we are talking quarter million pound cranes and 200k forklifts etc. One day a guy came round carrying his washing in two carrier bags (not an uncommon sight). Walked round the yard saying, "two of those, one of those with its lifting gear, and one of those, etc, etc". When asked how he would like to pay, he said cash, and promptly dumped the two carrier bags on the table which had money under a shirt in each. Something like £1.5m.

The FIA couldn't just withdraw from a circuit based on the fact that the circuit allows some other series to race there, they would find themselves on the sharp end of a writ in the blink of an eye, meaning any threat of a financial loss for the circuit would be a moot point anyway. They could however move to another circuit at the end of that circuits particular agreed term - like the move from Silverstone to Donnington. But then they would be the ones moving away from the "brand name" circuits, paving the way for the new breakaway series to move in, leaving them with the teams, the drivers and the circuits. If Bernie and Spanky dont back down on this one then they are a hell of a lot more stupid than they are funny looking. If smaller teams can only be competitive if there is a budget cap in place, then how can it be considered the pinnacle of motorsport? Its like me saying I want to play for a premiership football team, but I'll only play as long as all the other players agree to weigh a minimum 19 stone and do less than 2hrs exercise a week.

The problem is, that the fan base in large follows Ferrari, Mclaren, BMW, Renault. All credit to new entrants, but there is an argument that this is the pinnacle of motorsport, if buget cap restrictions start to infringe on how much effort can be put into developing a racing car, then we are no longer watching the pinnacle. Why wouldnt the BBC show it? Just because they are tied to F1, doesnt mean they cant show another motor racing series - they pay for the rights to show what they want dont they? Why would the circuits also not want to allow the races. Why would they be afraid of upsetting the governing body of F1 in favour of pleasing the likes of Ferrari, Mclaren, BMW, Renault etc.... Put it this way, Id bet ticket sales would be higher for the "big name" races and money talks. I'd agree that this will only be resolved by one side backing down. But I wouldnt be surprised if that didnt happen. Spanky and Bernie are just too pig headed to see sense. Slashing budgets from the current £500M+ to £40M is just too much way too fast.

Shameless bump of this thread.... -
What name would you like?
-
If you look in one of the pics, you can see some of the problem at chesterfield - its right next door to the Renault dealership (also Gordon Lamb), and they fill half the spaces with Renault stock too - as in the pic, Kangol (or whatever) vans get pride of place.
-
It never ceases to amaze the prices that dalers try to charge for some items. Especially when it comes to enthusiast car, who in their right mind would pay £65 or £80 for bloody windscreen wipers!
-
Yes we can change it without affecting anything else. Any particular reason you would want it changing?
-
I may pop down and have a look too - but Ill be taking the transit van not the Z, as the car parking at Gordon Lamb Nissan is utter toss. Lucky if you can find a space as they are al full of stock rather than available for customers, and when you do they are about three feet wide - door ding heaven.

Combined meet with GTROC - 20th June - Oxfordshire
Chesterfield replied to H5's topic in Meets, Shows and Events
Hi Mo, welcome aboard If you decide on making the event regular, i.e. a certain day of each month, then we can get it added to the events calendar for visibility, should hopefuly get the numbers up. As the met grows, it would be good to have activities etc as you say. -

Clicking Axle-Fault at manufacture-any Proof?
Chesterfield replied to rtbiscuit's topic in 350Z General
The TSB's arent written by "anyone" - they are their own bulletins issued to Dealerships to advise on how to fix common problems. It shows that the issue you are complaiing about is common knowledge within Nissan and certainly something that has been fixed for many people. The lady whom you spoke to may have the opinion that what is written on a forum could be "written by anybody". I am sure the sales director of Nissan is well aware, or at least should be, that anything written on a web forum could also be read by anybody, including people who may be about to consider the purchase of a new vehicle, but are getting real customer perceptions before making the decision... -
Clicking Axle-Fault at manufacture-any Proof?
Chesterfield replied to rtbiscuit's topic in 350Z General
The fact it happens to a VAST number of the cars is evidence in itself that the fault is due to something during manufacture, otherwise it wouldnt be so widespread. The fact they have a TSB for it is evidence enough that it is a common fault, revising the parts so that they no longer suffer this issue hoists them by their own petard as far as it not being a manufacture fault. If its just a matter of writing letters, including a copy of the TSB, and pointing to how widespread the issue is (perhaps a search for the word "clicky" on 350z forums around the world), then I would take it up with the motor industry, as I am sure Nissan will have to respond to any customer complaint raised by them. Eventually it will have cost more in Nissans time responding to your complaints and any questions posed by the watchdog, than it would to replace the parts - whos the mug then? -
I used a Halfords rattle can for doing the under bonnet bits on mine (yellow), it was one that they mixed up in store if you have the paint code. It was pretty good, but I wouldnt want to be painting bits of bodywork with them and hoping for a good colour match. Engine bay plastic bits is one thing, bits on show stuck right up against another section of bodywork is another. Id probably get them taken to a bodyshop who can match to the car itself.

Bentley Grill should be on a Bentley I like the estate of the 300c in black, black windows and the fine chrome grill though, not that drain cover standard grill it comes with. What surprised me when looking at the grills on these cars, the XF, the Chrysler and even the Bentley GT, they are all plastic. No chrome in sight. Easier to prevent it rusting I suppose.

Have gone of these I think they are looking a little too dated to soon. Though the Yanks have got it right with the new Camaro though (on looks at least). For a saloon, I quite like the Jaguar XF.
-
They should come through almost instantly, but any that have been caught in a backlog will be being processed at intervals, while new ones should come through staright away now. Thats the theory anyway.

You should only get email updates for threads which you have subscribed to (link at top left of the thread). Are you not being updated for threads which you have subscribed to?
-
Which ones arent being received? PM notifications or email updates for threads.
-
Ive made an interim change, this may improve things, but please continue to post up here if you dont receive the notifications.

It may have been me guys - I have been having to flush the cache on the site a few times during the day to get the calendar up and running, this was done several times yesterday. Although having said that the email notification has been a little eratic as of late. The underlying cause is that we are so busy on the site, that with PM email notification and with many having email notification enabled for responses to threads, the server is given litterally hundreds of emails per hour to send out. This is causing conflict in that I believe there is a frequency limit for outgoing mail on from our hosts, to prevent people setting up spam servers. It is on the to do list for resolution, but I have no time frame as yet unfortunately.

Those who are not coming to the Jockland Hoon fear not. Trax 09 is on this weekend, an if there is enough interest from those not able to make the Hoon, we can have a club stand. Please add names to a list below if you would like to attend this event Click the banner below for more details:

Anyone else wanting to come along to this? -
Unfortunately its a case of setting it yourself for every month. Quickest way is to set it for one month, click submit, then click your browsers back button, change the dates for the next month then click submit again, and so on..
